Art & Design Faculty Enhances Staff Efficiency with Workshops on File Management and Artificial Intelligence

​The Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University held two training workshops in the faculty laboratories. The first focused on managing OneDrive files, while the second addressed the use of artificial intelligence applications to support the academic process.

The workshops were delivered by a group of distinguished faculty members: from the Department of Graphic Design and Visual Communication, Lec. Hadeel Mustafa and Lec. Hassan Al-Tarawneh; and from the Department of Interior Design, Lec. Oraib Al-Sbaihi and Lec. Izzeldeen shela. They shared their practical expertise and presented the latest digital tools that help enhance academic work.

The sessions covered mechanisms for organizing, uploading, and sharing files via OneDrive. As for the AI applications workshop, it highlighted a range of websites and tools that can support the educational process, whether in content creation, idea generation, developing presentations, or improving the quality of academic outputs. The trainers emphasized the importance of conscious and responsible use of these technologies to serve educational objectives and enhance knowledge production.

These workshops come as part of a series of training programs implemented by the university to enhance the impact of professional development and to strengthen a culture of digital transformation and continuous improvement among faculty members.​

Fashion and Accessory Design at Applied Science Private University enhances its European presence via Erasmus+ in Spain

​The Fashion Design and Accessories Department at the Faculty of Art & Design, Applied Science Private University, participated in the training workshop “FASHION Forward: Mastering the Art of Design through a Vocational Training Diploma,” organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme and hosted by WUSMED in Banyoles – Girona, Spain, from February 9 to 13, 2026. The department was represented by the Head of Department, Dr. Sarah Alkhateeb, and Dr. Olivia Hijaz.

The five-day program focused on developing competence-based teaching methodologies within vocational education and training (VET), particularly in fashion and applied arts disciplines. The workshop emphasized the design of innovative learning activities aligned with professional diploma structures and European academic standards.

The program also included a study visit to La Garrotxa Institute in Catalonia, where participants explored official vocational curricula and practical training facilities. In addition, the delegation visited the ateliers and showroom of Rita Row in Figueres to gain insights into brand management strategies within the fashion industry. The experience was further enriched by a cultural visit to the birthplace of the renowned artist Salvador Dalí.

This participation reflects the Department’s ongoing commitment to advancing teaching methodologies, aligning academic programs with labor market demands, and engaging with European best practices in fashion education.​

Memorandum of Understanding between Applied Science Private University and Greater Amman Municipality

​Applied Science Private University and Greater Amman Municipality signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday, 16 February 2026, to strengthen cooperation and joint efforts between the two institutions.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the University by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Haitham Abu Khdeijah, and on behalf of Greater Amman Municipality by the Chairman of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee, Dr. Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, in the presence of the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Eng. Ziad Al-Rihani, the City Manager, Eng. Nabil Al-Jariri, at the Municipality’s headquarters, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, Professor Emad Al-Fahmawee, and Lec. Enas Dradkeh from the Department of Visual Communication Design.

The MoU aims to enhance collaboration in implementing design and creative projects that highlight the cultural identity of the capital, Amman. It also seeks to engage students and faculty members in cultural initiatives launched by the Municipality, involve students in field-based artistic programs and projects to strengthen their practical experience, and execute design projects within competitions organized by the Municipality, such as developing visual identities for cultural events. In addition, the agreement includes hosting and organizing lectures, workshops, and artistic and cultural seminars at the facilities of both parties.

The MoU further aims to provide academic and creative expertise to support cultural programs and activities, align art education outcomes with the cultural and artistic needs of the city of Amman, support student training programs at the Municipality’s cultural centers, and organize workshops and lectures that contribute to enhancing artistic and cultural awareness within the local community.

Al-Shawarbeh stated that the signing of this memorandum formalizes constructive cooperation with various institutions, particularly academic ones, to benefit from development and training opportunities, integrate scientific and practical expertise to elevate service standards, and reinforce the role of universities as active partners in development.

For his part, Abu Khdeijah affirmed that the University believes in the role of applied education and strategic partnerships in driving meaningful change, noting that this memorandum represents a practical step toward empowering young talents.

Through this collaboration, both institutions seek to strengthen cooperation between the public and academic sectors, with the aim of integrating youth energies and innovative ideas into decision-making processes and the development of municipal services in a manner that serves the future of the city.

Towards Promising Creative Horizons: A Student Visit to the Faculty of Art & Design

The Faculty of Art & Design at Applied Science Private University welcomed a group of students from Science Generation Academy and Scientific Principles Schools on Tuesday, February 10th, for an introductory field visit that included a tour of the faculty’s facilities. The students explored the art exhibition, the materials laboratory, and the fashion and accessories design labs.

The visiting delegation was accompanied by several faculty members including Lec. Baha Mualla, Lec. Mahmoud Salem, and Lec. Naji Al-Najjar, who provided a comprehensive explanation of the faculty’s academic programs, study structure, and the key skills students acquire throughout their academic journey. They also showcased selected examples of outstanding student projects.

This visit aligns with the Faculty’s the University’s commitment to supporting students, enhancing their awareness of artistic and creative disciplines, and helping them choose future academic paths that match their interests and abilities, while also meeting the evolving demands of the job market.

A Creative Presence of the Faculty of Art and Design at an Introductory Event for School Students

​​​The Faculty of Art and Design organized an introductory booth as part of an event hosted by Applied Science Private University for high school students, where it showcased its academic programs and creative projects, in the presence of academic and administrative staff from the faculty.

The event was held over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, February 11–12, with the participation of more than 800 students from various schools. Through its introductory booth, the faculty was keen to present a comprehensive overview of its specializations, including Fashion and Accessories Design, Interior Design, Graphic Design, and Digital Media Design, by exhibiting a distinguished selection of student projects that reflected a high level of creativity and professionalism.

The displayed works varied between artistic drawings, technical drawings, character design, models, and applied prototypes, attracting significant interest from students due to their innovative design approaches and contemporary ideas, which demonstrated the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application within the educational process.

The participation of the Faculty of Art and Design in this event reflects Applied Science Private University’s commitment to strengthening communication with school students, introducing them to available academic majors, and helping them explore their interests and abilities in order to guide them toward choosing their future university paths with confidence and awareness. Arts and Design… One Family Celebrating Its Academic Contributions

​The Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University honored a number of part-time lecturers who taught various courses during the first semester, in appreciation of their efforts and academic contributions. The recognition took place during an iftar gathering attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee, along with the heads of departments.

During the event, the Dean delivered a speech expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the lecturers, commending their active role and distinguished contributions to the educational process, and emphasizing the importance of cooperation and teamwork in advancing the Faculty’s academic and creative standards. At the conclusion of the gathering, certificates of appreciation were presented to the honored lecturers in an atmosphere marked by warmth and respect.

Enhancing Sustainability & Designing the Future: The Faculty of Art and Design Participates in the International MENATEX Program

​As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening its academic and professional presence at regional & international levels, the Faculty of Art & Design at ASU participated in the advanced Training of Trainers (ToT) program on “Compliance with Sustainability Standards and Frameworks in the Textile and Apparel Sector.”

The program was organised within the framework of the international MENATEX initiative, in cooperation with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, it was hosted in Amman at the Signia by Hilton Hotel from the 20th to 22nd of January 2026.

The first two days of the program focused on deepening technical knowledge of global sustainability standards, European Union regulatory requirements, and the use of International Trade Centre (ITC) tools to support small and medium-sized enterprises. The third day featured active participation in a high-level workshop that brought together representatives from the industrial sector, policymakers, and institutional partners to discuss practical mechanisms for implementing sustainability on the ground.

This participation reflects the vision of the Faculty in integrating sustainability concepts into fashion design curricula in alignment with contemporary global trends. It also reaffirms the commitment of ASU to empowering its staff and students by engaging in global dialogues that shape the future of the textile and fashion sectors, thereby contributing to supporting the national economy on scientific and sustainable foundations.​

A New Partnership Enhancing Academic and Creative Publishing at the Faculty of Art and Design

​The Faculty of Art and Design at the Applied Science Private University signed a partnership and cooperation agreement with Dar Al-Manhal Publishers, aiming to strengthen collaboration in the fields of academic and cultural publishing and the exchange of expertise. This partnership seeks to support academic and creative output and to develop joint projects that serve students and faculty members.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Applied Science Private University by Professor Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee, while Mr. Khaled Al-Bilbeisi represented Dar Al-Manhal Publishers. The signing ceremony was attended by the Head of the Visual Design and Communication Department, Dr. Haneen.

Five Master’s Theses at the Faculty of Art & Design Reflect the Latest Research Trends in Interior Design.

​The Department of Interior Design at the Faculty of Art & Design at Applied Science Private University concluded this month the defense of five master’s theses that addressed significant and specialized research topics in the field of interior design. These theses reflected the diversity of contemporary research directions and their strong connection to issues of sustainability, health, and the quality of the indoor environment.

The theses explored a wide range of advanced research issues in interior design, including:

1- The impact of using artificial intelligence applications on the design process and its outcomes in interior design firms in Jordan, by Aya Abu Ghazal.

2- The impact of smart architecture systems and technologies on the interior design of administrative buildings and their reflection on functional performance, by Sarah Fouad Al-Tamimi.

3- The impact of biophilic interior design in educational buildings on the psychological and behavioral aspects of students in Jordan, by Mais Basem Shaltaf.

4- An investigation of the role of Feng Shui theory and its effect on the health and behavior of occupants in interior environments, by Areej Ibrahim Hamdan.

5- The impact of using smart materials in architectural openings on achieving thermal efficiency of the indoor environment in residential buildings in Amman, by Dana Yousef Al-Badawi.

The thesis defenses were held in an academic atmosphere characterized by seriousness and constructive scientific dialogue. The examination committees praised the high academic quality of the theses and their importance in supporting scientific research and advancing professional practices in the field of interior design.

Coloring and Creativity: A Special Art Day for Students of the Faculty of Art and Design

As part of a series of artistic workshops held during the semester, the Drawing Club Committee at the Faculty of Art and Design organized an open art day on Thursday, January 8, at the club's studio within the faculty.

​The workshop was supervised by Lec. Mohammad Sobuh and was attended by a number of students from various specializations within the faculty. Participants engaged in sketching, drawing, and coloring a collection of artworks under direct supervision, with the aim of refining their artistic talents and channeling their creative energy.

The workshop resulted in the production of three large mural artworks, which will be installed and displayed in the faculty building as a distinctive artistic addition reflecting the students' creativity and efforts.​​

This activity falls within the framework of the Drawing Club's plan at the faculty, which aims to enhance the aesthetic appearance of the Faculty of Art and Design and reflect its artistic and creative identity, with direct support and guidance from the Faculty Deanship. The initiative emphasizes the importance of providing a stimulating educational environment that enables students to express their talents and develop their creative skills.

Design Insights: Fashion and Accessories Design Workshops Between Innovation and Practical Application

​As part of its ongoing commitment to providing students with the latest developments in knowledge and the arts, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University organized the event Design Insights on Tuesday, January 6, with wide participation from academics and specialists, and a large attendance of faculty students.

The Fashion and Accessories Design Department contributed through two workshops addressing diverse themes. The first workshop, titled Sublimation Printing for Apparel, was delivered by Eng. Mutasim Aljabari at the Accessories Lab. The workshop focused on digital printing techniques for garments, presenting the latest contemporary methods and technologies, and demonstrating how they can be innovatively and effectively applied in fashion design, while exploring the future prospects of modern printing in this field.

​The second workshop, titled Fabric Selection: From Concept to Execution, was delivered by Designer Zainab Kisswani. During this session, students were introduced to various types of fabrics and their commercial names, the characteristics of each type, methods for selecting appropriate fabrics for specific designs, and techniques for draping on the mannequin, leading to the final product.

At the conclusion of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design honored the participating speakers in appreciation of their academic and professional efforts, commending the high quality of the workshops and the valuable practical expertise transferred from real-world professional practice to students. Design Insights: Creative Pathways in Graphic Design and Digital Media

As part of its ongoing commitment to providing students with the latest developments in knowledge and the arts, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University organized the event Design Insights: Creative Pathways in Graphic Design and Digital Media on Tuesday, January 6. The event witnessed wide participation from academics and specialists, along with a large attendance of faculty students.

The Graphic Design Department and the Digital Media Design Department contributed through five specialized workshops addressing a variety of themes. The event commenced with a workshop titled Building a Portfolio, delivered by Eng. Razan Mohammed at the Faculty of Dentistry Auditorium. The session focused on strategies for creating a professional portfolio that reflects the designer’s personality and way of thinking, highlights creative capabilities, and aligns with the requirements of the job market.

In addition, Eng. Samer Abbas presented a specialized workshop on Game Development, discussing the concept of digital games, development mechanisms, their growing importance, and the latest advancements in this rapidly evolving industry. In the context of modern digital technologies, Eng. Zuhdi Shbeita delivered a workshop on Animation and Virtual Reality, highlighting the creative applications of these technologies and their expanding role in the fields of art and design.

The fourth workshop, titled Digital Media with a Realistic Touch, was presented by Lec. Lama Khalifa, Lec. Rawaa Harb, and Lec. Farah Al-Sayyed, addressing the realities of the job market and emphasizing the importance of the digital media specialization in the success of advertising campaigns and the creation of impactful visual content.

​The workshops concluded with a session titled Printed Color Improvisations, delivered by Dr. Tarek Mossaad and Lec. Fatma Samara at the Printmaking and Etching Lab. This workshop focused on learning new techniques in printmaking and provided space for creative experimentation using contemporary printing methods.

Design Insights: Interior Design Between Academic Creativity and Professional Practice

​As part of its ongoing commitment to providing students with the latest developments in knowledge and arts, the Faculty of Art & Design at Applied Science Private University organized an event on Tuesday, January 6, titled “Design Insights”. Receiving wide participation from academics and specialists, as well as a large number of students.

The event featured nearly thirteen workshops across various fields of art & design, with each department offering a set of workshops aimed at supporting students academically and practically, and strengthening their connection to the job market and its evolving requirements.

The Interior Design Department participated with five workshops covering diverse topics. Arch. Stephanie AlKhoury delivered a workshop on heritage preservation, during which she showcased restoration elements in Southminster Church in Ottawa, highlighting the importance of documenting architectural heritage and methods of preserving it.

Arch. Ahmad Al-Maghribi presented a workshop titled “Principles of Furniture Design”, discussing mechanisms for integrating leather craftsmanship into contemporary home furniture in a way that blends authenticity with modernity.

In a related context, Arch. Iman Bani Hani gave a workshop on residential projects, discussing major design challenges and practical solutions employed in these types of projects. 

Another workshop given was by the Jordan Green Building Council, it explored sustainability in practical applications, from residential buildings to heritage structures. The series of workshops by the Interior Design Department concluded with a session by Arch. Tareq Abdul Hadi titled “Interior Design and Psychology”, which examined the relationship between interior spaces and their psychological and behavioral impact on users.

These workshops were held in the facilities of the Faculty and the Dentistry Faculty Auditorium, providing an interactive educational environment that offered students the opportunity for direct dialogue with professionals and practitioners in the field.

At the conclusion of the event, the Faculty Dean honored the participating lecturers in appreciation of their efforts and their scientific and professional contributions. He praised the high quality of the workshops and the valuable practical expertise shared with students from real-world professional practice. Students also expressed their appreciation for this activity, noting the unique knowledge and experiences it provided, which enhanced their practical understanding and strengthened the link between academic learning and professional reality.​​

Occupational Safety and Health… A Step Toward a Safer University Environment

As part of its commitment to promoting a culture of safety and professional preparedness within the university environment, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University, through the activities of the Faculty Emergency Committee, organized a workshop entitled “Occupational Safety and Health” in cooperation and coordination with the Faculty of Nursing. The workshop targeted academic and administrative staff and was held on Thursday, December 18, at the Faculty of Art and Design building. 

The workshop focused on first aid procedures for dealing with a range of injuries and emergency cases, including burns, their classification and proper treatment, cases of tongue swallowing, various types of injuries, and the mechanisms for rapid and correct response in such situations. 

The workshop was delivered by Ms. Ferial Al-Hajjaj, Ms. Lina Jaafar, and Ms. Amani Abu Shahadeh from the Faculty of Nursing. At the conclusion of the workshop, the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Professor Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee, honored the presenters, commending their efforts and the continuous role of the Faculty of Nursing in delivering such important awareness workshops. He also praised the efforts of the Emergency Committee in organizing and successfully conducting these workshops, highlighting their effective role in raising awareness and strengthening the culture of first aid and occupational safety. ​​​

A New Global Achievement Added to the Faculty of Art and Design’s Record of Excellence

​As part of Applied Science Private University’s ongoing commitment to supporting creativity and innovation, and its distinguished approach to achieving success in international forums, the Faculty of Art and Design specifically the Department of Design and Visual Communication (Digital Media Design) has achieved a new accomplishment that adds to its academic excellence. 

A joint project by students Aleen AlAttas and Hanna Katib received an Honorable Mention among the works submitted to the TITAN Design Challenge, a European initiative focused on creating interactive experiences and designs that enhance critical thinking and combat misinformation, with participation from universities and academic institutions from around the world. 

This recognition was awarded in appreciation of their innovative project, which focused on redesigning the user experience of the TITAN platform by developing modern user interfaces that make the content easier to understand, strengthen critical thinking skills, and improve the platform’s usability and user appeal. The students were also invited to attend the competition’s results announcement ceremony, held in Rome, Italy, via online participation, in recognition of the project’s quality and distinction.  The project was carried out under the academic supervision of Lec. Hadeel Quraan, reflecting the college’s dedication to integrating creative design with international standards in global competitions. 

Through this achievement, the university reaffirms its commitment to supporting and empowering its students to compete globally, showcasing the level of academic excellence and creativity that the College of Arts and Design strives to foster across all its programs. ​

Student "Layan Hossam" Wins Two Awards at the Arab StarPack Student Awards 2025

​Student Layan Hossam Mohammad Zaid from Applied Science Private University – Faculty of Art and Design / Department of Design and Visual Communication / Graphic Design Major achieved a distinguished accomplishment by winning two First Prize awards in the Arab StarPack Student Packaging Awards 2025, in the following categories:

- Save the Food – First Prize Winner

​- Visual Packaging – First Prize Winner

This achievement resulted from two projects developed within the Packaging Design course, under the supervision of Lec. Ahmad Issa. The works demonstrated an advanced level of design thinking and visual innovation, addressing sustainability issues and reducing food waste through creative and practical packaging solutions.

The Arab StarPack Student Awards is considered one of the most important Arab competitions specialized in packaging design and development. It aims to support student creativity and connect academic education with the needs of the labor market and the packaging industry, with a focus on sustainable and innovative solutions in the packaging sector.

The 2025 edition witnessed the participation of 111 students from several Jordanian universities, reflecting the scale of competition and the strength of the submitted works.

Winners are scheduled to be honored during the awards ceremony to be held in the Arab Republic of Egypt in June, in the presence of representatives from Arab universities and experts and specialists in the packaging sector.​

Promoting Innovation and Training: The Faculty of Art & Design Participates in Fashion Sector Development Activities

​The Fashion Design and Accessories Department at the Faculty of Art & Design, at ASU, took part in a distinguished and active manner in the workshop and closing meeting held in cooperation with the International Trade Centre (ITC). The event took place on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, at the Signia Hilton Hotel in Amman, as part of the MENATEX 2026 project.

This participation aimed to strengthen the role of Jordanian universities in developing the fashion sector and creative industries, while exploring opportunities for academic and industrial collaboration. The meeting witnessed broad attendance from representatives of universities and the industrial sector, in addition to international participation via Zoom.

The event included a review of the key activities of the 2025 project, including field visits inside and outside Jordan, and a discussion of the outcomes that contributed to enhancing students’ skills and promoting the exchange of expertise. At the end of the workshop, the priorities for 2026 were approved, focusing on sustainability, digitalization, improving product quality, and strengthening academic and industrial partnerships, through cooperation between ITC, academic and industrial bodies, and in partnership with government entities.

Dr. Sarah AlKhateeb, Head of the Fashion Design and Accessories Department, emphasized the importance of ensuring that the training programs designed within these activities contribute to developing students’ practical skills and enhancing their academic and professional readiness. Dr. Ahmad ElBarbary, a faculty member, also expressed his pride in the department’s participation in these events, affirming that such cooperation opens new horizons for students and contributes to the development of academic programs.​

Mosaic of Resilience: Art as a Force for Healing and Psychological Support

The Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University, in collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), organized an art exhibition titled “Mosaic of Resilience” on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to support mental health and highlight the transformative power of art as a means of expression and empowerment. Held at the Faculty’s Art Gallery under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Samiha Jarrah, President of Applied Science Private University, and attended by Mr. Cyril Cappai, Head of Mission of Médecins Sans Frontières in Jordan, the exhibition opened at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8. 

The showcased artworks were the outcome of a series of collaborative workshops between the Faculty and MSF, in addition to creations made by patients who participated in specialized art therapy sessions. The training program featured three main workshops: “Thread of Hope”, which introduced the fundamentals of sewing and product design with participants from Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Palestine; an Advanced Fashion Design workshop that encouraged participants to translate their personal stories and experiences into creative designs; and a Painting and Art Formation workshop that provided a free space for emotional exploration through color, line, and texture. Mosaic Creativity Lights Up the Accessories Lab at the Faculty of Art & Design

​The Department of Fashion and Accessories Design at the Faculty of Art and Design organized an art workshop titled “Mosaic Touch for Fashion Accessories” on Thursday, November 27, in the faculty’s Accessories Lab. The workshop, led by Lec. Mohammad Salem, focused on creatively integrating mosaic art into various types of accessories.

Several students attended the workshop and successfully produced a collection of unique artistic pieces such as rings, bracelets, and pendants. The process combined creativity, design, and skillful craftsmanship in using mosaic techniques in an elegant and refined manner.

A Creative Tour for Al Ittihad International School Students at the Faculty of Art and Design

In line with Applied Science Private University’s commitment to strengthening collaboration between educational institutions, Al Ittihad International School organized a special visit to the university over several days. The visit included tours of various faculties and facilities, among them the Faculty of Art and Design, where students explored the world of art and design through a visit that covered the student exhibition gallery and the materials lab, in addition to the fashion and accessories laboratories. The Spirit of Giving & Creativity Shines at the Faculty of Art & Design Bazaar

​The Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University organized a special charity bazaar under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Samiha Jarrah, and the Faculty Dean, Prof. Emad Al-Fahmawee, bringing together generosity and creativity in service of the community.

The bazaar received wide participation, featuring a variety of products including food items, sweets, accessories, and handmade crafts; some created by students and others contributed from outside the faculty. A large number of students also helped organize the event, which hopes to support underprivileged families by providing food packages and Eid clothing.

When Color Becomes an Experience… Workshops that Inspire & Create

​​Set up by the Drawing Club Committee at the Faculty of Art and Design, two watercolor workshops - using aquarelle and acrylic techniques- were held on Thursday, November 20th, in the faculty studios, led by Dr. Manal Barqawi and Lec. Mahmoud Salem.

The workshops saw strong participation from students across various majors. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals and techniques of watercolor painting, its types, and methods of application. They also explored dry and wet coloring techniques, as well as different approaches to acrylic painting and its diverse possibilities.

At the end of the workshops, students presented a collection of creative artworks that reflected their artistic sensibility and the diversity of their expressive styles. These workshops are part of the Drawing Club’s ongoing activities within its semester plan, aimed at refining students’ artistic skills and nurturing their creative spirit.​​

Art and Design Shines with Colors of Modernity & Creativity

​The Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University participated in the “Visual Rhythms” forum organized by Baqa’a Association for Culture and Arts, with the participation of a distinguished group of Jordanian artists. The event aimed to promote artistic and cultural exchange and to integrate emerging creative talent with diverse artistic experiences.

The Faculty was represented by artist and lecturer Mohammad Sobuh, who showcased a collection of artworks executed in various modern styles. His works received great admiration from attendees, who praised their uniqueness and artistic value.

At the end of the forum, an art exhibition was inaugurated featuring nearly twenty diverse works presented by participating artists. The artworks reflected a range of techniques and styles, from modernism to abstraction to impressionism, highlighting the richness of the visual arts scene.

The exhibition was opened by Mr. Wasfi Al-Taweel, Director of the Royal Cultural Center, on behalf of the Minister of Culture and Secretary-General. The opening ceremony included honoring the participating artists in recognition of their artistic contributions.

From Concept to Execution: A Field Experience for Interior Design Students at Atlanta Factory

​As part of the Faculty of Art and Design’s efforts at Applied Science Private University to connect academic learning with practical application, the Department of Interior Design organized a field visit to the Atlanta Wood Manufacturing Factory for students enrolled in the “Technical Drawings 1” and “Principles of Furniture Design” courses. The visit took place the morning of Thursday, November 20th, 2025, under the supervision of Dr. Noor Abu Madi, Lec. Baha Mualla, Lec. Ezz El-Din Suhaila, and Lec. Tasneem Al-Adwan.

Around seventy male and female students from four different sections participated in the four-hour visit, which focused on hands-on practice, strengthening field knowledge, and linking theoretical understanding with practical application. Students observed the stages of furniture design and production across various departments of the factory such as carpentry, manufacturing, upholstery, and glasswork, accompanied by explanations from the engineers and an  opportunity to ask questions. This contributed to enhancing students’ precision, creativity, and teamwork skills.

A Creative Journey Through the Halls of Art and Design

​The Faculty of Arts and Design at Applied Science Private University hosted a student delegation from the Islamic Educational College Schools as part of a series of workshops organized by the Faculty’s Community Service Committee. The workshops were held in two stages: the first on Thursday, November 13, and the second on Thursday, November 20, with the participation of thirty-six female students. The delegation was accompanied by Lec. Fatma Samara, who introduced them to the faculty exhibition and the various majors offered at the faculty.

The students participated in a variety of workshops representing the different specialties within the Faculty of Art and Design. Dr. Ahmad El-Barbary and Dr. Olivea Hejaz led a workshop on fashion sketching & design, and model body proportions. While Dr. Sarah AlKhateeb delivered a workshop on designing & creating accessories as well as drawing on gemstones. In Addition, Dr. Ruba Jadallah and Lec. Mohammad Sobuh conducted a workshop titled “Design Your Room”, focusing on recycling and using different materials.

Both visits concluded with the accompanying teachers expressing their appreciation for the Faculty’s role in supporting and guiding student talent, emphasizing the importance of such experiences in enriching the students’ artistic sensibilities. ​​As part of its commitment to strengthening the practical aspect of learning and linking theoretical study with real-world application, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University organized a field visit to Feras Printing Press within the course “Materials and Techniques in Graphic Design.” The visit was supervised by Dr. Ali Hammouri and Tahreer  AlQaryouti, and the university delegation was warmly received by Mr. Badr Safadi, Chairman of the Board, and Eng. Zahir Safdi, who provided a detailed presentation on the advanced technologies and high standards adopted at the printing press. The presentation included an overview of the various printing stages, samples of materials and substrates, and the types of equipment and software used in production. Design and Heritage: Interior Design Students Engage in a Field Experience at the Wasfi Al-Tal Museum

​In alignment with the vision of the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University to offer students a comprehensive and practical learning experience integrated with academic knowledge, the Department of Interior Design organized a field visit to the Wasfi Al-Tal Museum in Al-Balqa as part of the “Rehabilitation of Heritage Buildings” course.

The visit brought together around one hundred students from several class sections, accompanied by Dr. Ruba Jadallah and Lec. Oraib Alsbaihi. During the visit, students had the opportunity to closely examine the architectural details of the heritage building and identify areas that had undergone restoration, enhancing their understanding of how to approach and preserve historic structures. The museum served as a practical case study that students will continue to analyze and develop as part of their coursework.

This field experience also provided valuable insights into the principles of heritage architecture and the methods of preserving its historical character, contributing to the enhancement of students’ practical and creative skills.

Four Awards for Interior Design Students from Applied Science Private University at the 7th Jordanian Universities Competition

​Applied Science Private University reaffirmed its distinguished presence in academic and creative forums, as students from the Department of Interior Design at the Faculty of Art and Design won four awards in the 7th Interior Design Students Competition for Jordanian Universities, organized by the Jordanian Interior Design Association (JIDA). The results were announced on Monday, 10 November 2025.

This year’s competition centered on a project titled “Study Hub”, a two-floor facility located at St. George Resort in Al-Fuheis, designed for third-year students within the Tourism Interior Design module. A total of 29 projects from six public and private Jordanian universities participated, reflecting a competitive and inspiring environment.

ASU students excelled in the competition, securing four distinguished awards:

Second Place (tie): Ahmad Alahmad for the project “JFT”

Third Place: Noor Abushakra for the project “Core and Code”

Excellence Award for Best Concept Design: Yasmin Sammour for the project “Suhail”

Special Excellence Award: Hanan Sa’Deh, in recognition by the jury for the outstanding quality of her concept and design approach

The award ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Dr. Saeed Alhmoud, Head of the Interior Design Department, and Lec. Baha Mualla. Faculty of Art and Design Opens Its Doors to Creativity and Welcomes New Students

​​The Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University welcomed its new students for the 2025–2026 academic year in an atmosphere filled with creativity, joy, and inspiration.

The welcoming ceremony was held on Monday, November 11, 2025, at Al-Haj Abdullah Abu Khadija Auditorium in the Faculty of Dentistry, in the presence of the Dean, faculty and administrative members, and a large gathering of students.

The event commenced with an opening speech delivered by the Dean, who warmly welcomed the new students and expressed his pride in their joining the Faculty of Art and Design family. He emphasized the faculty’s commitment to supporting students throughout their academic and creative journey, encouraging them to explore their potential and cultivate their talents across the diverse disciplines of art and design.

The ceremony featured an artistic theatrical sketch organized by the Cultural Committee and performed by a group of students. The performance carried a set of awareness and educational messages introducing the university’s systems and academic terms such as Incomplete, Student Guide, Blended Learning, and On-Campus Classes, along with useful instructions and guidelines for first-year students.

The event concluded with the honoring of outstanding students from various departments. A Real-World Experience in the Heart of Retail Spaces – Interior Design Students at Taj Mall

​The Department of Interior Design at the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University organized a field visit to Taj Mall on Thursday, November 6, 2025, as part of the Retail Interior Design course requirements, under the supervision of the course instructors.

The visit aimed to provide students with a practical opportunity to observe real-world design applications in retail environments, and to analyze their elements from a comprehensive professional perspective. During the tour, students examined a range of design aspects, including spatial layout, circulation paths, storefront design, lighting systems, material and finish selection, and product display methods.

They also analyzed the relationship between brand visual identity and in-store design elements, as well as, studying visual guidance mechanisms, that enhance visitor experience within retail spaces.

At the end of the visit, students prepared documentation reports that included their field observations and analyses, supported by photos and diagrams, along with proposals to improve existing design aspects.

This visit served to deepen the students’ applied understanding and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of retail design, contributing to the refinement of their skills and preparing them to enter the job market with efficiency and a well-rounded aesthetic and functional awareness.

The Journey of Creativity in the World of Printmaking

​As part of the activities organized by the Drawing Club Committee at the Faculty of Art and Design, a Printmaking Workshop was held on Thursday, November 6, in the faculty’s printmaking laboratories, conducted by Lec. Fatma Samara.

The workshop brought together around 30 students from various departments of the faculty, who were introduced to the history of printmaking, the tools and techniques used in this art, and the proper ways to handle and apply them.

During the session, students engaged in hands-on practice using linoleum, producing creative works inspired by portraits, nature, and Arabic calligraphy. By the end of the workshop, they learned how to apply printing techniques on different materials, including cardboard and fabrics such as T-shirts and tote bags.

This workshop is part of the Drawing Club’s semester plan of activities, which aims to enhance students’ artistic skills, encourage creative expression, and connect them with practical experiences in the field of art and design.​​

Interior Design Students from the Faculty of Art and Design Participate in an International Design Event in Indonesia

​As part of the academic cooperation agreement between Applied Science Private University (ASU) and Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) in Indonesia, the Faculty of Art and Design—represented by the Department of Interior Design—participated in an international design event hosted by UNISSULA, with a delegation of five distinguished students.

The program featured a series of academic and experiential activities, including field visits to several mixed-use buildings, offering students valuable exposure to diverse architectural and design models. The event also provided an opportunity for cross-cultural exchange and collaboration with students from various regional and international universities. This enriching experience broadened participants’ perspectives and enhanced their creative and analytical skills in interior design and applied arts.

​The Faculty of Art and Design at ASU — represented by the Department of Interior Design — participated with a student delegation in the activities of the 3rd Fall Design Week organized by FIU in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. This participation comes as part of the activation of the academic cooperation agreement signed between the two universities.

The theme of the event was: “How Can Fun Learning Meet Knowledge?”

The program included more than 13 design and interactive workshops with students from various international universities, offering participants an intensive practical learning experience, and a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, and develop their skills in interior design and visual arts.

In that context, Dr. Shrouq Al-Tamimi - the academic supervisor of the delegation -  clarified that such activities encourage creative thinking, and provides students with hands-on field experience that goes beyond traditional classroom education.

The agreement aims to strengthen the practical and training aspects of the Graphic Design program by providing students with opportunities for hands-on training and orientation workshops in digital printing, file preparation, and archiving. It also seeks to familiarize students with the realities of the printing industry and its professional requirements.

The Faculty of Art and Design held its second meeting on Thursday, October 9, addressing a number of important topics that contribute to the academic and artistic development of the faculty.

During the meeting, Lec. Oraib Al-Sbaihi presented an overview of the faculty’s strategic plan, outlining future steps aimed at enhancing the quality of education and expanding opportunities for creativity and innovation within the faculty. During the meeting several issues related to the faculty’s various departments was also discussed, with the goal of strengthening interdepartmental collaboration and developing both academic and artistic programs in alignment with the faculty’s vision and objectives. These efforts are consistent with the goals of ASU, which strives to achieve academic and research excellence, foster an educational environment that encourages creativity and innovation, and prepare qualified graduates equipped with the skills and knowledge that meet the needs of the job market and serve the community. 

At the end of the meeting, and in an atmosphere filled with creativity, warmth, and appreciation, several distinguished colleagues were congratulated for their achievements in scientific research, as well as those who had received academic promotions in recognition of their efforts and outstanding accomplishments. A Journey into Creativity: Al-Hussein School Students Explore the World of Art and Design

The Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University welcomed a group of 25 students from Al-Hussein Secondary Profesional School for Girls – Zarqa, enrolled in the British International BTEC Program, accompanied by four teachers. The visit aimed to introduce the students to the disciplines of art and design and their various creative fields. 

This initiative reflects the faculty’s role in supporting the university’s vision to promote awareness of its academic programs and provide students with opportunities to explore diverse areas of art and creativity. 

The visiting group was welcomed by Dr. Ali Hamouri, Dr.Ahmad Elbarbary, Lec. Ines Daradkeh, Lec. Baha Mualla, and Lec. Ahmad Issa, who accompanied them on a tour that included the faculty’s art gallery, materials lab, design studios, and fashion department. Throughout the visit, the students were introduced to the nature of artistic and practical work carried out within the faculty. The visit was concluded with a lecture by Mr. Ahmad Issa in one of the college’s laboratories, where he highlighted the creative and academic aspects of art disciplines. ​The Faculty of Art and Design – Interior Design Department participated in the launch event of the Net Zero Energy Buildings Guide, held on October 6, 2025, through a dedicated exhibition booth where students presented two outstanding academic projects in the field of sustainable interior design. The showcased projects included the National Library Project by student Aheda Bsisu and the Cultural Heritage Preservation Project for a historic building in Downtown Amman by student Mohammad Hamadeh.

Fashion Design and Accessories Concludes an Exceptional Training Course in Design and Innovation in Collaboration with Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières)

​​The Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Fashion and Accessories Design at Applied Science Private University, concluded its second training course in collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), titled “The Advanced Fashion Course.” The course was conducted by Lec. Nancy Najeeb in the Fashion Design Studio at the faculty from September 22 to 29. The program aimed to advance participants’ skills in fashion design and garment construction by introducing them to pattern templates for abayas, trousers, and skirts, as well as training them to cut and assemble fabric pieces with precision. It also explored different cutting techniques and the appropriate fabric types for each design. Additionally, the course featured a creative component that focused on incorporating traditional elements using distinctive trims, reflecting the participants’ cultural identities. 

Eleven trainees from Gaza, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen—women affected by war—took part in the course. Their participation added a powerful humanitarian dimension to the workshop, highlighting the transformative power of art in supporting recovery, empowering individuals to express themselves, and rebuilding hope through creativity. 

This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to supporting applied programs that empower vulnerable communities and strengthen their creative potential. Under the emblem of His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Mr. Mustafa Rawashdeh, the Faculty of Art and Design at the Applied Science Private University took part in the 10th Dana Creative Camp, organized by the Directorate of Culture in Tafila Governorate from October 4 to 6. 

The Faculty was represented by Lec. Mohammad Sobuh, who served on the Art and Fine Arts Exhibition Committees, contributing to the selection of artworks showcased in the fields of sculpture, painting, visual arts, and Arabic calligraphy. These distinguished works were featured in the general exhibition of the camp’s tenth edition. 

The Faculty of Art and Design has previously participated in several editions of the Dana Creative Camp through Lec. Mohammad Sobuh, who has conducted training workshops for the youth of Tafila Governorate. Through his artistic contributions and supervision, he has played an active role in showcasing the aesthetic richness and environmental diversity of the Dana region.  At the closing ceremony, participants were honored by His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Mr. Mustafa Rawashdeh, and Dr. Salem Al-Faqeer, Tafila Director of Culture. The Faculty of Art and Design Launches the Journey Toward Professionalism in Fashion Design

Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University Explores New Horizons through ERASMUS “Fashion Forward” Project in Spain

As part of its participation in the European ERASMUS project “Fashion Forward,” the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University – represented by the Department of Fashion and Accessories Design – took part in the second steering committee meeting, hosted in Banyoles – Girona (Spain) and organized by WUSMED Foundation on 17–18 September 2025. 

The Faculty was represented by a distinguished delegation including Professor Dr. Mohammad Hamdan, Assistant to the President for Global Projects, Dr. Olivia Hejaz, and Dr. Sarah Al-Khatib from the Department of Fashion and Accessories Design. The delegation made valuable contributions to discussions on the project’s progress and future plans. 

The “Fashion Forward” project aims to develop an advanced professional diploma in fashion design, bridging the gap between academia and labor market needs while strengthening capacity-building and knowledge exchange between European and Arab universities.

Applied Science Private University and Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization Launch Women’s Empowerment Workshop

As part of its pioneering efforts in community service and women’s empowerment, Applied Science Private University – Faculty of Art and Design, in collaboration with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, organized a specialized training workshop targeting a group of refugees and survivors of gender-based violence. The workshop was supervised by Lecturer Nancy Najeeb from the Department of Fashion and Accessories Design. 

Seventeen students participated in the workshop, which focused on the fundamentals of sewing and its practical applications, including the design and production of bedspreads, covers, aprons, traditional cloaks, and abayas. Lecturer Najeeb ensured that the training combined both theoretical and practical components, providing close follow-up with each participant to guarantee effective skill acquisition. 

This initiative reflects the university’s mission to promote the role of art and design as tools for community development and to empower women by creating practical opportunities that open new avenues for work and creativity.

Faculty of Art and Design Opens New Horizons of Artistic Expression for Al Rajaa School for Deaf or Hearing-Impaired Children

As part of its ongoing commitment to integrating art into community service and enhancing its role as a bridge for communication and self-expression, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University organized an art workshop at Al Rajaa School for Deaf or Hearing-Impaired Children, in coordination with Al-Hayat Association for the Care of People with Disabilities. 

​This workshop is part of a series of artistic events and workshops regularly organized by the Faculty, aimed at developing students’ skills, integrating them into their community, and providing them with a space to express themselves through visual arts and crafts. 

The workshop was led by Lec. Mohammad Sobuh from the Faculty of Art and Design, who trained approximately 15 students in various drawing and coloring techniques, closely following their progress and helping them refine their expressive styles. The students showed remarkable engagement, which was clearly reflected in their unique artworks carrying a distinct and personal touch. 

The administration of Al Rajaa School expressed its gratitude to Applied Science Private University and the Faculty of Art and Design for this initiative, which contributed to boosting students’ morale and nurturing their creativity. Field Trip for Digital Media Design Students to Mundo Media company

As part of its ongoing commitment to developing student skills and preparing highly qualified professionals for the digital industry, Applied Science Private University organized a field trip for students enrolled in the 2D Animation II course — a core subject in the Digital Media Design program, offered by the Department of Design and Visual Communication at the Faculty of Art and Design. 

Under the supervision of Dr. Haneen Al-Mashayekh and Ms. Hadeel Hassan, the students visited Mundo Media, a creative content production company. The visit provided a rare glimpse behind the scenes of a dynamic industry, where students explored real projects that had made an impact in the market and resonated with audiences. 

During the tour, students engaged directly with the creative teams behind the work — gaining insight into the full production process, from idea conception to final execution. They explored various departments, including video editing, animation, graphic design, and even visited live filming sets, witnessing firsthand how concepts are transformed into engaging visual content.

Applied Science University and Doctors Without Borders “Reconstructive Surgery Hospital” Organize the Thread of Hope Workshop to Professionally Rehabilitate War Survivors

The Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University, in collaboration with the Mental Health Department of Doctors Without Borders, organized a specialized training workshop entitled Thread of Hope on the fundamentals of tailoring, with the aim of empowering and professionally rehabilitating survivors of war injuries.

The workshop targeted a group of patients currently receiving treatment through MSF programs, representing various nationalities including Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Palestine. Its objective was to develop their practical skills, contribute to improving their quality of life, and strengthen their economic independence. Training was delivered by Ms. Nancy Najeeb, a specialist in the field.

At the conclusion of the workshop, certificates of participation were presented to the attendees by Prof. Feras Darwish El Hajji, Vice President of the University; Prof. Emad Al Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design; and Mr. Obada Al-Asami, MSF Patient Training Officer, in recognition of the participants’ determination and commitment to learning.

"Fashion Forward" Project: A Professional Fashion Design Program Rooted in Heritage and Aimed at the Global Market

Applied Science Private University, in collaboration with Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, organized a specialized workshop under the European Erasmus+ project “Fashion Forward: Mastering the Art of Design through a Professional Diploma.” The workshop aimed to develop an advanced professional diploma in fashion design that merges cultural identity with industrial innovation, with the participation of both local and international partners.

Academic and professional institutions from several countries took part in the workshop, including CNA Ferrara (Italy), the Technical University of Crete (Greece), World University Service of the Mediterranean – WUSMED (Spain), and the Universities of Sfax and Monastir (Tunisia), in addition to the two organizing Jordanian universities.

​Participants discussed the academic structure and curriculum of the diploma, accreditation mechanisms, and ways to integrate elements of heritage into applied education in a manner that aligns with the demands of the local and international job market. The advisory board and expert council delivered specialized presentations, featuring professional designers and representatives from industrial sectors in Jordan and Tunisia, with the aim of enhancing the professional content and applied competencies of the diploma.

From Applied Science Private University, the participants included Prof. Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee, Dr. Mohammad Hamdan, Dr. Ahmad Al-Barbari, Dr. Olivia Hijaz, and Ms. Sara Al-Khatib. As part of its firm commitment to supporting cultural and artistic movements, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University participated in the “Aqaba Waves” Art Symposium, organized by the Ayla Society for Culture and Arts in the city of Aqaba, from June 17 to 20, 2025.
The faculty was represented by Lec. Mohammad Sobuh, who presented a collection of visual artworks inspired by the features of Aqaba. His modernist approach reflected the artist’s interaction with the local environment, offering a distinctive and compelling artistic experience.
The symposium brought together a distinguished group of artists and academics from Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, and Jordan, creating a platform for dialogue and the exchange of artistic and intellectual perspectives. This contributed to strengthening cultural ties among the participating countries.
The event concluded with the opening of an art exhibition showcasing the works produced during the symposium. Bridges of Art and Humanity: Applied Science Private University and Médecins Sans Frontières Launch a Unique Partnership

​​Under the guidance and coordination of the Faculty of Art and Design, Applied Science Private University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the international humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders). The agreement aims to establish collaboration in academic, professional, and humanitarian fields, in line with the university’s mission of serving the community.

The MoU focuses on implementing specialized vocational training programs designed to support individuals with disabilities and those affected by wars and disasters. These programs aim to help participants reintegrate into society and rebuild self-confidence through the supervision of faculty members and the use of the Faculty of Art and Design’s technical facilities and laboratories.

The agreement also seeks to develop appropriate training materials and educational curricula, in full coordination between both parties, and in accordance with the humanitarian principles and professional neutrality upheld by Médecins Sans Frontières.

The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from both sides, including: Prof. Samiha Jarrah, President of the University; Prof. Feras El Hajji, Vice President; Prof. Mohammad Ahmad Hamdan, Assistant to the President for International Research Projects; Prof. Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design; Lec. Mahmoud Salem and Lec. Fatma Samara from the Department of Design and Visual Communication. ​From May 27 to 29, 2025, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University held thesis defenses for graduate students in the Department of Interior Design. These sessions were conducted in the presence of esteemed academic committees composed of distinguished scholars from both within and outside the university. This initiative reflects the faculty’s continued commitment to graduating researchers equipped with critical thinking and advanced analytical skills.

The internal committee included Professor Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee, Professor Dr. Essam Odah, Professor Dr. Osama Hassan, Dr. Mahmuod Ismael, Dr. Anas Shamaileh, Dr. Saeed Alhmoud, and Dr. Ruba Jadallah. ​As part of its continuous efforts to integrate academic k​nowledge with practical application, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University – Department of Fashion and Accessories Design – organized a specialized workshop titled “Building Brands in the Field of Leather Products”, in collaboration with Eng. Ahmad Al-Maghrabi, founder of the brands Jeld and Jeld Home.

The workshop attracted remarkable participation from students of the department and addressed key topics related to establishing a successful brand and the challenges faced by designers in the leather goods market. Eng. Students from the Faculty of Art and Design Among the Top 100 Designs in a Prestigious International Competition in Turkey

​In an international achievement that reflects the academic and creative excellence of students from the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University, three female students from the Department of Design and Visual Communication earned a distinguished spot among the top 100 posters in the “International Juried Poster Festival Exhibition for Bandırma Bird Paradise,” recently held in the city of Bandırma, Turkey. The festival featured approximately 300 poster designs from various countries around the world.

​This participation was part of the “Portfolio Design and Competitions” course, under the supervision of Lecturer Enas Daradkeh. The works of students Razan Al-Banna, Heba Taftanazi, and Dania Al-Heresh were selected among the elite entries, alongside renowned international designers such as Goyo Rodríguez, Erwan Harnoko, and Orhan Erdanlı.

The festival’s opening ceremony was attended by prominent official and academic figures, including Mr. Niyazi Yeloglu, Deputy Mayor of Bandırma, and Professor Dr. Mehmet Emin Erçakar, Vice President of Bandırma University. The Ninth Interior Design Forum at Applied Science University: A Leading Platform for the Future of Design

​Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Samiha Jarrah, President of Applied Science Private University, and organized by the Faculty of Art and Design, the Ninth Interior Design Forum commenced on Monday, May 19, 2025. The event served as a prominent platform blending academic creativity with forward-looking visions, with broad participation from professionals, students, and representatives of the design industry.

​In light of the rapid developments in design and technology, this year’s forum was held under the theme “Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Design.” The event highlighted the growing impact of technology in reshaping the tools and methodologies of interior and architectural design, while emphasizing the role of AI in enhancing the quality of designed spaces in alignment with future demands.

The forum witnessed outstanding participation from 16 interior design departments representing various public and private Jordanian universities, and was attended by over 350 participants, including professors, students, experts, and key industry stakeholders.

The program featured engaging panel discussions with AI specialists, welcome speeches, and a creative theatrical performance by students of the Faculty. The performance showcased the evolution of design from ancient civilizations to the digital age.

The accompanying art exhibition was inaugurated by the University’s Vice President, Professor Dr. Feras Al-Hajji. The exhibition included student projects from the participating universities and reflected innovative student perspectives on integrating modern technologies into architectural spaces.

The forum’s sessions were broadcast live on the "ArchiNet" platform, broadening digital engagement and outreach across social media channels.

Applied Science Private University Translates Its Vision into Innovation: A New Achievement in the “Water Management and Entrepreneurship 2025” Competition

​In a true reflection of Applied Science Private University’s commitment to fostering creativity and promoting sustainability, the university proudly participated in the “Water Management and Entrepreneurship 2025” competition through a distinguished team of Interior Design students from the Faculty of Art and Design: Ahida Bseiso, Noor Mowafaq, and Yara Guevara.

The competition took place between March and May 14, 2025, with support from the French Development Agency (AFD), in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, and in partnership with the Jordan Youth Innovation Forum and the Jordan Green Building Council (GBC). The event aimed to empower youth to develop innovative solutions to water management challenges and to raise awareness about the importance of the sustainable use of this vital resource.

​During the competition, the students participated in a specialized two-week training program that included intensive workshops on entrepreneurship and design thinking, as well as mentoring sessions with experts and engineers from southern Jordan. The experience also featured a field visit to the Samra Wastewater Treatment Plant, offering participants a unique opportunity to gain deeper insights into real-world challenges and to propose practical, impactful solutions.

This journey culminated in a remarkable achievement: the team secured fourth place at the national level with their innovative project “Noqta”, which was praised by the judging panel for its concept, creativity, and execution. As a result of their excellence, the team was awarded a fully-funded, one-year training grant in green building practices, provided by the Jordan Green Building Council.

​The Department of Interior Design at the Faculty of Art and Design, Applied Science Private University, hosted Eng. Omar Al-Najjar for a distinguished lecture titled "Advanced Lighting Technology" on Monday, May 12, 2025.
This topic constitutes a significant component of the graduate course "Advanced Technology in Interior Design," taught to master's students in the Interior Design program under the supervision of Dr. Nasser Al-Maghrabi, with all sixteen enrolled students in attendance.
The lecture covered several key themes, including:​​
- The Historical Dimension of industrial lighting technology and the discovery of electricity.
​- The Expressive Value of electrical technology and its relationship to industrial lighting as a design element that conveys spatial identity and enhances both aesthetics and functionality.
- Electricity and Industrial Lighting as expressive tools in interior design and modern/contemporary architecture, used to create a nighttime visual identity for buildings, highlighting architectural details and transforming structures into artistic landmarks.
- Contemporary Lighting Technologies, including methods for selecting and distributing lighting in projects and buildings, as well as how to calculate appropriate lighting levels in interior spaces based on their function—contributing to energy efficiency through the use of modern lighting technologies and smart control systems.

The Faculty of Art and Design Welcomes a Student Delegation from Shams Al-Kawn School

​As part of Applied Science Private University’s ongoing efforts to enhance its community engagement and foster connections with educational institutions, the Faculty of Art and Design welcomed a student delegation from Shams Al-Kawn School on May 8, 2025. The visit was organized under a collaborative program aimed at introducing school students to the various disciplines within arts and design, and inspiring creativity and innovation among youth.

The visit included a tour of the faculty's facilities and laboratories, such as the materials lab, the accessories and fashion lab, the photography studio, and other key spaces. During the tour, students received an overview of the vision, mission, and identity of the Faculty of Art and Design. They were introduced to the different departments and academic specializations, as part of a broader community outreach initiative that seeks to build bridges between the university and the community, and to encourage young students to explore creative fields from an early age.

At the conclusion of the visit, the students expressed their excitement and appreciation for the diversity of creative design processes they witnessed. Accompanying teachers and students alike conveyed their gratitude for the warm reception and the rich educational experience provided, emphasizing the importance of continuing such constructive collaboration between public and higher education institutions.​​

The Faculty of Art and Design Enhances Academic-Industrial Collaboration in the Apparel Sector Through a Specialized Workshop

​Several faculty members from the Department of Fashion and Accessories Design at the Faculty of Art and Design, Applied Science Private University, participated in a specialized workshop organized in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Amman Chamber of Industry. The event was part of the second phase of the MENATEX project.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the integration between the academic sector and the apparel industry in Jordan, with a focus on circular economy concepts, supporting student research projects, and developing effective partnerships between universities and industrial companies. It also addressed mechanisms for aligning academic education with actual labor market needs and encouraged practical training and sustainable innovation in the textile sector.
This participation reflects the university’s commitment to developing practice-based educational programs in cooperation with industrial partners, contributing to the preparation of qualified graduates who meet the demands of the industrial sector and support sustainable development.​​

A Specialized Workshop on “Packaging” to Enhance the Skills of Design Students at the Faculty of Arts and Design

The Department of Design and Visual Communication at the Faculty of Arts and Design organized a specialized workshop titled “Fundamentals and Techniques of Packaging,” presented by Mr. Yousef Abu Atieh and Ms. Sarah Hudeib from the National Center for Packaging. The workshop was attended by a large number of students from the department and aimed to introduce participants to the importance of design in the packaging sector and its role in maintaining product quality and enhancing market presence.

The workshop covered several key areas, including:

​- An overview of the packaging sector in Jordan

- A review of the types of materials used and the latest technologies in the industry

- The steps for designing aesthetically and functionally effective packaging

- The importance of sustainability and innovation in packaging design

Students also had the opportunity to discuss real-life projects and case studies carried out by the National Center, adding valuable practical insight to the experience. Cooperation Agreement between Applied Science Private University and Umbrella Company to Support Training, Advertising, and Entrepreneurship

​As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with the private sector, Applied Science Private University has signed a cooperation agreement with Umbrella Company for Advertising Boards Manufacturing, a leading firm specializing in indoor and outdoor printing, interior design projects, and graphic design.

The agreement aims to reinforce the collaboration between the two parties across various fields, including practical training, scientific research, entrepreneurship, and advertising—ultimately benefiting the university’s students as well as the academic and professional community.

The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, Dr. Ali Al-Hamouri, Head of the Department of Design and Visual Communication; Engineer Ahmad Saleh Al-Mansour, General Manager of Umbrella Company; and lec. Ines Daradkeh, the agreement coordinator from the Department of Design and Visual Communication.

The agreement outlines several key areas of cooperation, most notably:

- Developing and implementing joint training programs aligned with labor market needs to enhance the skills of students and graduates.

- Collaborating on research and teaching activities of mutual interest.

- Exchanging professional and technical expertise between both parties.

“Industrial Property in the World of Design”: A Specialized Workshop at Applied Science Private University to Raise Student Awareness of Creative Rights

​​As part of the Faculty of Art and Design’s efforts at Applied Science Private University to empower students intellectually and connect them with current developments in the labor market, the Department of Design and Visual Communication organized an awareness workshop entitled “Industrial Property and Trademark Registration”, held within the framework of the “Advertising Copywriting” course.

The workshop was led by Dr. Mohammad Al-Jaghbeer, Director of the Industrial Property Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, who presented key concepts of industrial property and highlighted the importance of protecting creative rights in the fields of design and visual marketing. He also provided a practical explanation of the procedures for trademark registration in Jordan.

The session included a discussion of real-life case studies related to intellectual property law, emphasizing the crucial role designers play in safeguarding their artistic output through legal documentation and official registration.

The workshop witnessed notable engagement from students, who expressed strong interest in the topics addressed, noting that the session added a new dimension to their legal and professional understanding within the creative domain.

Educational Field Visit for "Digital Photography" Students from the Department of Design and Visual Communication to the Ancient City of Jerash

​The Department of Design and Visual Communication at the Faculty of Arts and Design organized an educational field visit to the ancient city of Jerash for students enrolled in the "Digital Photography" course. The visit included the participation of more than one hundred students from four different course sections, under the supervision of Dr. Ali Al-Hamouri, Lec. Ahmad Issa, Lec. Aya Al-Amoush, Lec. Eid Al-Mulqi, and Lec. Tahreer Hamdan.

The visit aimed to enhance students' practical skills by providing them with the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they acquired in a real-world environment rich in historical landmarks. During the visit, students documented the architectural and archaeological beauty of Jerash using a variety of digital photography techniques and methods.

The participating students demonstrated notable engagement throughout the visit, capturing artistic photographs that reflected the aesthetic aspects of Roman architecture in Jerash. They focused on key elements such as lighting, angles, and composition, thus strengthening their practical skills and reinforcing the connection between academic learning and field experience.

With Colors of Love and Creativity: Arts and Design Students Bring Joy to Al-Rajaa School for the Deaf

​In line with its steadfast commitment to community service and its mission to promote the humanitarian role of art, the Faculty of Arts and Design at Applied Science Private University organized a distinguished artistic activity in collaboration with Al-Rajaa School for the Deaf in Al-Rusaifa. The event featured the active participation of the faculty’s students under the supervision of faculty member Lec. Mohammad Sobh.

Ten talented students from the Faculty, known for their exceptional skills in handcraft arts, took part in the event. They conducted a series of training workshops for the students of Al-Rajaa School, covering various fields such as drawing and coloring, accessory making, paper quilling art, and the design of stickers and keychains—offering a rich experience that combined technical skills with creative expression.

​The event was characterized by a positive and interactive atmosphere, with the students of Al-Rajaa School showing great enthusiasm and remarkable engagement across the different workshop stations. The workshops were carefully designed to develop their artistic abilities and expand their creative horizons, using tools and techniques that empowered them to express themselves more deeply and effectively.

The Faculty of Art and Design Organizes a Scientific Trip to the Ancient City of Umm al-Jimal

​​On Saturday, April 19, 2025, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University organized a scientific visit to the ancient city of Umm al-Jimal in the Mafraq Governorate. Umm al-Jimal is considered one of Jordan’s most prominent historical sites, known for witnessing the succession of various civilizations, including the Byzantine and Islamic eras.

Dr. Nasser Al-Maghrabi accompanied the students on this trip, leading a group of Master’s students in Interior Design on a field tour aimed at exploring the architectural and urban character of Umm al-Jimal. The visit aligns with the college’s efforts to promote educational and cultural activities beyond the confines of the classroom.

The trip aimed to broaden students’ academic horizons and bridge theoretical knowledge with architectural reality by analyzing the technological methods used in the construction of the ancient city and comparing them with contemporary architectural technologies. This comparative approach was intended to inspire new ideas for the development of interior and exterior designs in modern buildings.

The visit commenced at the Visitor Center, where tour guide Samar Al-Harman delivered a brief overview of the city’s history, its main sections, and the prevalent architectural styles. The tour then continued through the archaeological site under the guidance of tour guide Mana’ Al-Masaeed, who provided an in-depth presentation on the site's most prominent residential, religious, and urban landmarks.

The trip concluded with an interactive discussion session between the students and several tour guides, during which they discussed the key insights gained from the field experience. This session contributed to enhancing the students’ applied understanding and academic knowledge.

This visit forms part of the Faculty’s vision to integrate academic and practical learning, encouraging students to engage directly with architectural and cultural heritage, thus enriching their educational experience and contributing to the development of their design skills.​​

A Workshop on First Aid Brings Together the Faculty of Arts and Design and the Faculty of Nursing at the Applied Science Private University

​​As part of the Applied Science Private University’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary integration, the Faculty of Arts and Design – Department of Fashion Design and Accessories, in collaboration with the Faculty of Nursing, organized a comprehensive workshop on first aid. The workshop aimed to equip students with essential life skills that enhance their preparedness to handle emergency situations.

The workshop, held on the university campus, witnessed significant attendance from students, faculty members, and supervisors, during which extensive information was provided on how to respond quickly and effectively to sudden injuries or critical conditions.

The workshop focused on the basic principles of first aid, with an emphasis on how to manage common injuries such as cuts, bleeding, and burns, as well as the correct steps to provide immediate care in various emergency situations. The session was led by a group of healthcare specialists, who provided a detailed practical explanation supported by live demonstrations and hands-on exercises. This allowed students the opportunity to actively participate and apply what they had learned, helping to solidify concepts and build their confidence in responding correctly during accidents.

Faculty of Arts and Design Concludes the Eighth Edition of the School Drawing and Design Competition

​The Faculty of Arts and Design at Applied Science Private University concluded the eighth edition of the School Drawing and Design Competition on Thursday, April 17, 2025. The competition was held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, and witnessed extensive participation from students representing public and private schools in the capital, Amman.​
Nearly 300 male and female students from 55 schools participated in the competition. They were distributed across two age categories:
- Category 1: Grades 7 to 9
- Category 2: Grades 10 to 11
The competition addressed various themes in expressive drawing and artistic design, allowing students to creatively engage with subjects inspired by the environment, society, imagination, and innovation.
During the closing ceremony, the winners were honored and awarded both material and financial prizes, in the presence of the University President, Professor Dr. Samiha Jarrah, and the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. Haytham Abu-Khadeeja. Both stressed the importance of supporting artistic creativity from an early age.
The ceremony concluded with the opening of a comprehensive art exhibition showcasing the students' work. The exhibition served as a platform for creativity and knowledge exchange, highlighting the diversity in artistic styles and themes that reflected the students' outstanding talents.
The Faculty of Arts and Design emphasizes that this competition is one of its most prominent annual events and represents its firm commitment to social responsibility and its continuous efforts to foster talent and develop artistic awareness in future generations.

The Faculty of Art and Design Participates in the University’s Celebration of Jordan’s Flag Day with a Distinguished Artistic

​As part of the university’s celebrations of Jordan’s Flag Day, the Faculty of Art and Design participated in this national event by creating an innovative artwork that symbolically expressed the values and noble meanings embodied in the Jordanian flag.

The event was honored by the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. Haytham Abu-Khadeeja, alongside the University President, Professor Dr. Samiha Jarrah, and the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Professor Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee. They expressed pride in the artistic work presented by the students, which reflected their national awareness and creative talents. Dr. Abu-Khadeeja reaffirmed his continued support for the students and his encouragement of such initiatives that merge art with patriotic belonging.

The artistic work consisted of thirty individual art pieces that were drawn and painted during the celebration, with the active participation of students from the faculty and under the supervision of the Drawing Club Committee at the faculty, represented by faculty member Lec. Mohammad Sobuh. These pieces were assembled to form a cohesive and vibrant artwork that pulsates with creativity and reflects a deep sense of national identity and pride.

This participation served to highlight the role of the arts in fostering national belonging and expressing patriotic values through creative means. It also provided students with the opportunity to engage meaningfully in national events and to establish their artistic presence within the university's cultural space.​​

The Fifteenth Joy of an Orphan": The Faculty of Art and Design Organizes the "Eid Gift and Outfit" Initiative to Bring Joy to Orphaned Children

For the fifteenth consecutive year, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University organized its annual initiative "The Joy of an Orphan", as part of the "Eid Gift and Outfit" campaign held during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative aims to promote the values of social solidarity and community compassion.

The event was held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, during which 40 orphaned children were accompanied to select new clothes in preparation for the joyous celebration of Eid al-Fitr, all within an atmosphere of happiness and festivity.

The initiative seeks to bring happiness to the hearts of orphaned children by providing Eid clothing, while also fostering a spirit of volunteerism and reinforcing a culture of social cooperation. This year, 25 student volunteers from the faculty took part in the initiative, playing a key role in its success and in realizing its humanitarian goals.

This initiative is part of a broader series of charitable activities that the Faculty of Art and Design is committed to organizing annually, in alignment with its mission to serve the community and cultivate a sense of social responsibility among students.​​​

Site Visit for the Interior Design Students to the IKC (International Kitchens Company ) Factory – Sahab

​The Interior Design Department at the Faculty of Arts and Design –  organized a site visit to the International Kitchens Company Factory in Sahab,  As a part of the course “Technical Drawings 2”.

The visit was supervised by the course instructors: Dr. Afaq Al-Ramahi and Lec. Alaa Al-Zoubi, and accompanied by: Ms. Tasneem Al-Adwan, Ms. Dana Al-Masri, Ms. Maha Al-Momani, and Ms. Firdous Al-Natsheh.

This educational trip aimed to familiarize students with the full manufacturing process of kitchen units, starting from wood cutting, painting, and assembling different components, all the way to the final product—based on the type of wood and production methods used.

​Students had the opportunity to meet MR. Rashed Abu Ouda, the company’s General Manager, who provided valuable insights and explanations about the production process. A specialized team from the factory also accompanied the students, offering detailed step-by-step demonstrations that helped connect the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.​

Field Visit for Interior Design Students to the Competition Site in Fuheis

​​​The Faculty of Art and Design, represented by the Department of Interior Design, organized a field visit to the site of the 7th Interior Design Association Competition. The competition project involves redesigning a restaurant complex in the Fuheis area into a multifunctional space dedicated to study and work.

The visit was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Afaq Al-Ramahi, accompanied by Lecturer Alaa Al-Zoubi and several administrative staff members from the department. It was held as part of the course Interior Environment and User Behavior.

The main objective of the visit was to analyze the project site in terms of climate, architectural style, materials and colors, and natural landscape coordination. During the visit, students also had the opportunity to meet with the project designer, Eng. Oreib Abu Aisheh, which helped bridge theoretical learning with practical application and deepened their understanding of the project in preparation for their participation in the competition.

Cooperation Agreement between the Faculty of Art and Design and the European University in Macedonia under the Erasmus+ Program

​As part of its continuous efforts to enhance academic and training opportunities for students, faculty, and administrative staff, Applied Science Private University, represented by the Faculty of Art and Design and the Office of International Relations, has signed a cooperation agreement with the European University in North Macedonia under the Erasmus+ program, supported by the European Union.

This agreement aims to support academic and cultural exchange between the two universities in the field of art and design. It provides undergraduate and master's students with the opportunity to study for one academic semester or participate in a three-month practical training program at the partner university. Additionally, Applied Science Private University will host students from the European University to join its various programs in arts and design disciplines.

The agreement also includes opportunities for faculty members to participate in academic and research exchange programs, contributing to the development of their expertise and fostering scientific collaboration between the two institutions. During the breakfast, former heads of departments, Dr. Mahmoud Ismael and Dr. Mustafa Othman, were honored in recognition of their outstanding efforts during their tenure. Additionally, Dr. Safaa Jahameh was honored on the occasion of her promotion to the rank of Associate Professor, and Ms. Dania Khawaldeh was recognized for her dedication and contributions.

Faculty of Art and Design Participates in Organizing an Art Workshop for Children with Special Needs

​As part of its efforts to serve the local community, the Faculty of Art and Design organized a specialized drawing workshop in collaboration with Al-Hayat Charitable Association for the Rehabilitation and Care of Disabled Persons and Al-Raja School for the Education of Hearing-Impaired Students in the Russeifa area.

The workshop was held on Thursday, the 20th of Feb, at Al-Raja School for the Education of Hearing-Impaired Students, with the participation of several students from the school under the supervision of Lec. Mohammad Adnan Sobuh, a faculty member at the faculty of Art and Design.

After the workshop, Dr. Eyas Al-Abbadi, Vice President of Al-Hayat Association, presented a letter of appreciation to the Faculty of Art and Design, represented by Dean, Prof. Emad Al-Fahmawee, the faculty members, and Lec. Mohammad Adnan Sobuh, in recognition of their outstanding and professional efforts. Faculty of Art and Design Holds Master's Thesis Defenses in Interior Design for the Second Semester

The Faculty of Art and Design has successfully concluded a week of distinguished master’s thesis defenses for a group of researchers specializing in Interior Design.

The following researchers: Majd Ayad, Dana Al-Masri, Noor Al-Malawani, Firdous Al-Natsha, Tasneem Al-Adwan, Shadi Nashwan, and Abdul Rahman Qabaqibo, completed their thesis defenses, receiving recommendations from the examination committees to be awarded the master's degree in interior design, with minor revisions.

The defense committees included internal examiners:

Prof. Emad Al Fahmawee, Prof. Osama Hassan, Dr. Mahmuod Ismael, Dr. Anas Al Shamaileh, Dr. Ruba Jadallah, Dr. Odai Alabadleh, and Dr. Saeed Alhmoud.

Applied Science Private University Signs Two Cooperation Agreements to Support Art and Design with "JoPack" and the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association

​Applied Science Private University (ASU), represented by the Faculty of Art and Design, has signed two cooperation agreements to enhance professional and artistic partnerships. The first agreement was signed with the National Center for Packaging (JoPack), a Jordanian organization established in 2016 as a creative arm of the Chambers of Industry. The second agreement was signed with the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association.

The agreements were signed by the President of the University, Prof. Samiha Jarrah, alongside the Chairman of the Board of Directors of JoPack, Mr. Issa Abdel Hadi, and the President of the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Khatib. The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Emad Al Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, along with several faculty members, including Dr. Mustafa Othman, Lec. Ahmad Issa, and Dr. Safa Jahameh.

The agreement with JoPack aims to enable students to apply theoretical knowledge in a professional environment through workshops and exhibitions focused on packaging design. It also seeks to develop innovative and sustainable design solutions with the support of faculty expertise.

Meanwhile, the agreement with the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association seeks to enrich the artistic scene in Jordan by fostering academic and artistic exchange, organizing joint exhibitions and workshops, and providing opportunities for students and young artists to participate in cultural and artistic events.

A Scientific Visit to Jabal Al-Qala’a and Hindiyya Museum Enriches Art Students

​As part of an educational and cultural excursion, Lec. Fatima Samara, a lecturer in the History of Global Art course within the Department of Design and Visual Communication, led her students on a field visit to Jabal Al-Qala’a on Thursday, January 9, 2025. The purpose of this visit was to enrich the course content by exploring the Temple of Hercules and visiting the associated museum, which features artifacts ranging from primitive art to Islamic art.

Afterward, the group proceeded to the Hindiyya Museum of Arts, renowned for its extensive collection of artworks executed in a variety of styles representing different artistic movements. The collection showcases work by international, regional, and local artists. This visit greatly enriched the students both visually and academically, perfectly aligning with the educational objectives of the course.

The Faculty of Art and Design Paints a Mural in Support of the Local Community

​As part of its activities aimed at serving the local community, the faculty of Art and Design organized an event to paint a mural at Al-Raja School for Hearing Impairments in the Al-Ruseifa area. The event took place on Thursday, the 26th of this month, and involved the participation of several faculty students from various majors. The event was supervised and organized by the Community Service Committee within the Department of Interior Design, with additional contributions from the Drawing and Murals Club Committee.

The students were accompanied by faculty members, including Dr. Saeed Alhmoud, Lec. Oraib Al-Subaihi, and Lec. Mohammed Sobuh. During their visit to the school, the students also had the opportunity to learn about the methods and techniques used in educating individuals with hearing impairments.

Art and Design Students Create a Mural

The Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Professor Emad Al Fahmawee, inaugurated an artistic mural at the Faculty, created by the Drawing and Mural Club Committee.

The mural spans 11 meters in width and 3 meters in height. Several students from various faculty disciplines participated in painting and coloring the mural under the supervision of the Drawing and Mural Club Committee. The mural is distinguished by its inclusion of global artistic symbols arranged in a unique color space distribution style.

The Dean honored faculty member Lec. Mohammad Subh in recognition of his supervision and contribution to the planning and painting of the mural on behalf of the Drawing and Mural Club Committee. Additionally, he presented certificates of appreciation to the participating students to commend their efforts in completing the project.​​

Dr. Olivia Hijaz, a faculty member specializing in Fashion and Accessories Design, represented the department, alongside a delegate from the Jordan Chamber of Industry.

Graphic Design Students at the Faculty of Art and Design Visit Amman Sign Museum and the King Hussein Str. Cultural Complex

​As part of the educational activities aimed at enhancing cultural heritage awareness and developing creative skills, the Graphic Design Department at the Faculty of Art and Design, Applied Sciences University, organized a field visit for students of the Typography 1 course, under the supervision of Ms. Ines Dradkeh, to the Amman Sign Museum and the Arabic Calligraphy Diwan.

The students were accompanied by Mr. Ahmad Issa and Ms. Israa Khalifa and were warmly welcomed by Mr. Ghazi Mahmoud Khattab, owner of the Amman Sign Museum, and Mr. Mohammad Khudair, Director of the King Hussein Street Cultural Complex. Both hosts praised the excellent organization of the visit by Applied Sciences University and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in supporting cultural and artistic heritage.

The visit aimed to broaden the students’ understanding of the different types of Arabic calligraphy and their evolution over time, connecting the historical and modern aspects of calligraphy. It also provided an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts related to Arabic calligraphy, understand the basic rules of writing Arabic scripts, and explore their integration into graphic design as a fundamental component of design structure.

Dr. Kanbaş Lecture at the Faculty of Art and Design at ASU

The Faculty of Art and Design, in collaboration with the Office of International Relations, hosted a lecture for students titled "Islamic Arts and Architecture Through the Ages". Dr. Mahmut Sami Kanbaş, Assistant Professor of Islamic History and Arts at Marmara University, Turkey, gave the lecture.

The lecture witnessed strong attendance from both students and faculty members. Prof. Feras El Hajji, Vice President of the University, and Prof. Emad Al-Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, welcomed the guest speaker. They expressed their gratitude and pride in the ongoing and fruitful collaboration between Applied Sciences University and Marmara University, along with its visiting faculty members.

Professor Emad Al-Fahmawee Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design took part in the Second International Conference on Art and Design, held in Jeddah from November 15 to 17, 2024. He participated in a panel discussion titled “The Future of Artificial Intelligence in Art and Design and Its Impact on Education.”

The discussion focused on the major changes artificial intelligence (AI) has brought to art and design, highlighting the need for educational institutions to keep up by updating curricula to include AI technologies. The session also explored how AI helps develop students' skills and enhances the learning process to meet the demands of the rapidly changing digital job.

Professor Al-Fahmawee emphasized the importance of integrating AI into educational programs to strike a balance between artistic creativity and modern technology. This integration he explained helps prepare a new generation capable of innovation and competitiveness in creativity and design.

The topic is crucial for academic institutions teaching art and design, as it serves as a foundation for future development strategies aligned with fast-paced digital advancements.

The conference also provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Arab universities and support efforts to modernize academic education. ​The Interior Design Department at the Faculty of Art and Design organised a field visit to the City Centre Furniture Factory for students studying “Principles of Furniture Design” and “Technical Drawings (1)" under the supervision of Dr. Saeed Alhmoud and Lec. Oraib Al-Subaihi. The visit aimed to strengthen students' practical skills and help them better understand the role of interior design in furniture manufacturing. 

This experience allowed students to see how interior design principles are applied in the furniture design process, linking their classroom learning to real-world applications. It also helped bridge the gap between academic studies and professional practice by showing students the practical role of interior designers in furniture production. 

​Moreover, the visit encouraged innovation and research in furniture design. Students explored new methods and techniques, enhancing their creativity and problem-solving skills. The Faculty of Arts and Design discusses the first master's thesis in Interior Design

Titled: "Procedural Aspects of Achieving the Technical Requirements for Integrated System in Interior and Architectural Design within the Framework of the Design Unit for Residential Buildings". Researcher Hind Al-Ramahi defended the first thesis of the master's program in Interior Design.

 The defense committee included a group of distinguished academics: Prof. Essam Odah as the supervisor, Dr. Mahmoud Ismael as the internal examiner, and Dr. Nasser Al-Moghrabi as the external examiner. The session was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Emad Al-Fahmawee, along with several faculty members and master's students from the college.

Following the discussion, the committee recommended awarding the researcher Hind Al-Ramahi a master's degree in interior design with minor modifications.

The ceremony began with an introductory video about the university, followed by a warm welcome from the university president, who praised the students for joining a college known for providing a creative and inspiring educational environment. The faculty dean then delivered a welcome address, highlighting the importance of arts and design as tools for self-expression and societal impact. Graphic Design Students Visit Firas Printing Press

​Among the notion of theory and application adopted by the Faculty of Arts and Design at the Private University of Applied Sciences, a group of students from the college majoring in graphic design visited one of the largest modern printing establishments in Jordan, which is Firas Printing Press. Students of the course of   Materials and Techniques in graphic design visited Firas Printing Press on Al Quds Street, south of Amman. The group was introduced and welcomed by Mr. Bader Al-Safadi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Firas Al-Safadi and Mr. Zaher Al-Safadi. The sponsors gave a detailed explanation of the departments of the printing press. The visiting students were introduced to the modern materials and techniques used by the printing press in the advanced packaging industry. The scientific visit was supervised by the course instructor, Dr. Ali Hammouri, accompanied by Ms. Leen Al-Saadi, and Ms. Leen Oraifi . The ASU university provided the necessary facilities for the team during the round trip from and back to the university.

The visit, supervised by Professor Dr. Osama Hassan and Dr. Ruba Jadallah, aimed to enhance students' practical understanding and provide a comprehensive perspective on the role of interior design in museums and its application in presenting historical and cultural information.

The visit focused on helping students understand the architectural and interior design of the museum, exploring its elements that contribute to enriching the visitor experience. The tour included an in-depth look at display area designs and how to create a sensory experience that fosters visual engagement between visitors and exhibits. Additionally, students examined methods for redesigning museum spaces as part of a practical project requirement within the course.

Museum officials presented historical artifacts to students that illustrate the development of civilizations in Jordan, explaining how interior design can effectively showcase Jordan's heritage in a way that enhances the visitor experience. Workshop for New Faculty Members on the Fundamentals of E-Learning and Educational Platforms

The College of Art and Design organized a training workshop for new faculty members aimed at familiarizing them with the e-learning foundations adopted by the university and introducing them to the approved electronic platforms and their operational mechanisms. Lec. Omar Hawashin provided an initial explanation of these platforms and outlined the procedures for working with them, as well as the essential points to consider when using them, such as preparing assignments, distributing the study plan, setting and approving grades, and various communication methods with students, among others.

Mohammad Sobuh, a faculty member in the Interior Design Department, took part in the 9th Dana Creative Camp, organized by the Directorate of Culture and Arts in Tafilah Governorate to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty's assumption of constitutional powers. The camp, held from October 1st to 5th, included workshops in painting, sculpture, Arabic calligraphy, and photography, with the participation of a select group of Jordanian visual artists. Attendees expressed their admiration for the distinctive artistic style showcased in Lec. Mohammad Sobuh's unique paintings that reflected the nature and spirit of Dana.

Professional Development Workshops for Faculty on Academic Publishing in the College of Art and Design

The College of Art and Design organized two workshops for faculty members aimed at enhancing their knowledge of academic publishing and the latest research trends. The first workshop provided a comprehensive introduction to the Scopus database. Dr. Safaa Jahameh delivered a detailed explanation of how to use the platform for research purposes and publishing, as well as the key criteria followed by journals indexed in Scopus.
The second workshop focused on SCIVAL, an analytical tool that enables researchers to identify global research trends and analyze the research performance of institutions and individuals. Through these workshops, Dr. Safaa aimed to empower faculty members with a deeper understanding of how to enhance their research output and increase their chances of publishing in prestigious journals.

ASU participates in "Art Nova" Al-Qadisiyah

The College of Arts and Design at the University of Applied Sciences participated in the "Art Nova" forum organized by Al-Qadisiyah College at Al-Hussein Cultural Center.

The forum aimed to introduce students from various art and design colleges across the kingdom to the most prominent designers, clarify the impact of technology on the design and educational process, and the challenges that designers may face in the labor market, and ways to solve them.

The students were presented with live models of the work of students of the Fashion and Accessories Design Department at the College of Arts and Design at the ASU, and the specializations of graphic design, design for digital media, and interior design.

More than two hundred students participated to learn about the specializations available to them for study, master's specializations, and to review the study plans.

The College of Arts and Design was honored for its active participation in this unique forum.

College of Arts and Design holds the first collective breakfast of the new academic year 2024/2025

​In a warm and familial atmosphere, the College of Arts and Design hosted its first collective breakfast to celebrate the beginning of the academic year 2024/2025. Faculty and staff members were invited, where new faculty members were welcomed and a group of colleagues were honored.

The Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Emad Al-Fahmawee, expressed his gratitude to colleagues who had left the college, with mixed feelings of joy and sadness. He praised their efforts throughout their years of dedication and presented commemorative shields to Prof. Dr Essam Odah from the Interior Design Department, Dr. Lina Farah from the Visual Communication Design Department, Ms. Abrar Abu Fāra from the Interior Design Department, and supervisors Safiya Jarar and Yasmin Al-Asaf, expressing his sincere thanks and wishing them all the best. The Head of the Interior Design Department also commended their work.

Prof. Dr. Al-Fahmawee praised the efforts of the College of Arts and Design staff in maintaining the college's reputation and remarkable progress, and wished for its continued excellence and the achievement of its desired goals.

ASU participated in SAMIM project

Student Aheda Bseiso from the College of Arts and Design in the Sameem project, which was funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) ,managed by Lab'ess, and implemented in partnership with the Jordanian Youth Innovation Forum and the Jordanian Green Building Council (GBC). The project aimed to promote sustainable development and environmental innovation in Jordan, with a particular focus on promoting green practices in the residential building sector.

The student was awarded during an event a certificate recognition of her dedication, commitment, and successfully participating in the Energy & Water Auditing Training for Residential Sector and contributing to Data Collection & Analysis Activities under 'Towards Sustainable and Resource-Efficient Households" project which was from  May, 25th to Aug 27th.​

Mapping all Art and Design Faculty specializations with the national qualifications framework

The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions has approved the mapping of all specializations offered by the College of Arts and Design (Interior Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media Design) to the Jordanian National Qualifications Framework (JNQF) at Applied Science University.
This achievement is a testament to the tireless efforts of the faculty members and liaison officers in the college's departments to enhance the level of learning and its outcomes, with ongoing support from the Dean of the College of Arts and Design.

ASU Participates in the Arts Forum for Free Drawing at Al-Balqa Applied University

​A group of students from the College of Art and Design participated, with supervisors, Miss Shatha Ghanem and Miss Hadeel Hasan at the Applied Science Private University in the activities of the Arts Forum of Jordanian Universities for Free Drawing, which was held at Al-Balqa Applied University, under the auspices of the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Khaled Al-Zou'bi, representing the President of the University.
Prof. Al-Zou'bi pointed the Arts Forum of Jordanian Universities for Free Drawing is one of the featured events because it includes many Jordanian universities, and the forum designed to highlight the energies and talents of students in free drawing, extending his thanks to all universities participating in the forum.

Applied Science Private University Participates in the Fourth Ammon International Festival of Arts 2024

​The Department of Fashion the Faculty of Arts has participated in the 4th Amoun Festival themed “Jordan’s Cultural Heritage” which was held in Amman Hanger in Ras Al-Ain, and Al Hussain Cultural Centre under the patronage of the city’s mayor Dr. Yosouf Al-Shawarbeh.

The Department has presented various artistic pieces that relate to Jordan’s cultural heritage and authenticity. And was exhibited in a special wing for the department of Fashion with the participation of several students who explored different local and international themes in their work. The exhibits have caught the attention of many visitors, chief among them were the Ambassador of Germany, the Ambassador of Japan, and the Embassy representative of Egypt.

The Department has also presented a fashion show at Al-Hussein Cultural Center, in which the students have presented an array of magnificent contemporary wears inspired by Jordanian embroidery, in an effort in celebrating the Jordanian heritage through fashion and accessories through a runway.

​​It’s worth highlighting that the festival’s Jury committee have applauded the students for their efforts, authentic style of presentation, and their design ideas that remained true to the main theme of the event.

Furniture Exhibition from Materials Technology and Workshops Course

On Tuesday, 06/04/2024, Prof. Emad Al-Fahmawee Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, inaugurated an exhibition of selected furniture pieces that were implemented within the Materials Technology and Workshops course, in the presence of Head of the Interior Design Department, Dr. Mahmoud Ismail, the faculty members responsible for the course Prof. Essam Odah and Lec. Khaled Al Radaideh, the Director of the Engineering Workshops Department, Eng. Marwan Zidan, and a group of college students.

The exhibition included all the students' work implemented in the course, which will be used in the external courtyards and internal corridors of the College of Arts and Design.

​This exhibition comes as an application of the university's and the College of Arts and Design's vision to qualify students to keep pace with the labor market, raise efficiency and creativity, and increase the level of confidence among future designers.

Lecture on the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system at the Faculty of Arts and Design.

As part of the Faculty of Arts and Design’s interest in informing its students about everything new in the fields of interior design and environmentally friendly design, the faculty hosted a delegation from the Jordanian Green Building Council. Engineer Heba Al-Nazer gave an introductory lecture on the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system, which is considered a standard for the design, construction, and operation of buildings with high environmental performance. It is an indicator of highly efficient green architecture.
Engineer Al-Nazer reviewed the most important system standards that must be applied to obtain its approved certificate. She also reviewed examples of local projects that have already obtained this certificate and discussed the challenges that were overcome to do so. This lecture also represented an enrichment of the sustainability in interior design course taught this semester.
After the lecture, Prof. Emad Al-Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, honored the guests from the Jordanian Green Building Council. In the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Ismail, Head of the Interior Design Department, and several faculty members of the department, discussions were held on ways to enhance cooperation between the Faculty of Arts and Design and the Jordan Green Building Council

A Delegation from the Faculty of Arts and Design Visits Al-Fanar Printing Press

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the Faculty of Arts and Design organized a field trip to Al-Fanar Printing Press. Design and Visual Communication students were introduced to the stages that different printed materials go through, starting with design preparation, color sorting, and plate preparation, to the process of mounting the plates on the printing press, and ending with various finishing operations such as cutting, folding, binding, and others.
Engineer Sahar Ali accompanied the students during the visit and explained the printing process, from the moment the execution order is received until the printed materials are delivered to the customer. At the end of the visit, the students expressed their thanks and gratitude to Engineer Sahar for the valuable information and useful explanation she provided about offset printing.

Inaugurated of Fashion Design and Accessories laboratories at ASU

Under the patronage of Dr. Haitham Abu Khadijah: Chairman of the Board of Trustees, along with the university president, Prof. Samiha Al-Jarrah, and the deans of the faculties, the fashion design and accessories laboratories were inaugurated on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Faculty of Arts and Design of the Applied Science Private University.
In the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Emad Al Fahmawee, along with a group from the Faculty of Arts and Design, as well as from various other colleges and centers of the university, Dr. Ahmed Al-Barbari, the Head of the Fashion Department and Dr. Olivia Hijaz, a faculty member of the department, presented to the esteemed guests a special gift of a scarf featuring the pattern of the traditional Jordanian “Shmagh”. This scarf was designed to commemorate the 78th Independence Day and the Silver Jubilee.
The attendees viewed samples of the creativity of students and lecturers  from the fashion design and accessories program, which were created during the current semester.
After the tour of the fashion design and execution laboratory, the attendees moved to the accessories and jewelry design laboratory and observed there the designs created by our students.
The group expressed their admiration for the department and the excellence of the Faculty of Arts and Design, wishing it, its staff, and its students continued progress and success.

ASU Celebrates 78th Independence Day and Silver Jubilee with Art Exhibition at Faculty of Arts and Design

Under the patronage of Dr. Haitham Abu Khadijah: head of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Samiha Al-Jarrah: President of the University, Applied Science Private University (ASU) organized an art exhibition at the Faculty of Arts and Design as a part of the university's celebrations of the 78th Independence Day and the Silver Jubilee.​

The exhibition, which was held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Design and Arts Prof. Emad Al-Fahmawee, Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Hussam Al-Shorof, deans of faculties, and a group of faculty members.

The exhibition featured a variety of artworks, including videos, posters, and designs for traditional and national dresses and accessories. And 3D animation film designed by Head of the Department of Design and Visual Communication Dr. Mustafa Othman was also screened.

​Attendees witnessed a live painting of a mural expressing the history and civilization of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which was executed during the exhibition by students of the Faculty of Arts and Design and a number of its faculty members. The audience expressed their admiration for the idea and the exhibition in general, and praised the efforts of the Faculty of Design and Arts and its distinguished staff.

Applied Science Private University Hosts the 8th Interior Design Forum

The Faculty of Art and Design at the Applied Science Private University (ASU) held the 8th Interior Design Forum under the patronage of the university president, Prof. Dr. Samiha Jarrah. The forum was titled "Challenges of Interior Design in Heritage Buildings" and was attended by representatives from Jordanian public and private universities, companies, and specialists in the field of heritage building rehabilitation.
​These practical forums are held in various venues to serve the local community and contribute to its development. They also emphasize the importance of effective partnership with community institutions by integrating knowledge with experience and the desire to work creatively. Prof. Dr. Emad Al-Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, delivered a speech in which he stressed the need to revive heritage buildings by rehabilitating and utilizing them effectively to serve the community and activate the role of the interior designer in this process.
The forum included a dialogue session moderated by Lec. Oraib Al-Sbaihi with stakeholders in the field of heritage building rehabilitation. The session addressed several important topics related to the maintenance and rehabilitation of heritage buildings.
As part of the forum's activities, an art exhibition was opened in the Faculty of Art and Design's gallery. The exhibition showcased the work of participants from the university's Faculty of Art and Design, students from public and private universities, companies, and specialists.

Graphic Design Student Wins Second Place in Anti-Smoking Poster Competition at Petra University

​Hebat Allah Al-Majali, a talented Graphic Design student from Petra University's Faculty of Arts and Design, has clinched second place in a prestigious anti-smoking poster competition. The competition was a highlight of the university's 13th Scientific Day and was organized by the University's Drug Prevention Committee. Hebat Allah's winning entry was selected from a pool of seventy-six posters, with participants hailing from various universities across Jordan. The results were announced on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Her visually striking and impactful poster exemplifies her dedication to raising awareness about the dangers of smoking.

Faculty of Arts and Design Showcases Student Talent in Furniture Models Exhibition

​In a celebration of creativity and innovation, the Faculty of Arts and Design at [College Name] recently unveiled an exhibition featuring an array of furniture models. At the end of the gathering, the college congratulated Professor Mahmoud Salem on the birth of his first daughter, Reem, and extended their congratulations to Mrs. Maha Al-Momani on her recovery from a health setback.

The College of Arts and Design organizes the charitable campaign “An Orphan’s Joy - Eid Clothes”

The Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Arts and Design carried out its fourteenth campaign under the title “An Orphan’s Joy - Eid Clothes” where it took several of its volunteer students, who visited Al-Baqaa camp, to buy Eid clothes for 30 orphan children.
The committee also presented the Eidia gift to the mothers of families that conceal their needs, numbering 26 mothers, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Applied Sciences concludes the activities of the 7th Drawing and Design Competition

The Faculty of Arts and Design organized the seventh edition of the Drawing and Design Competition for school students, this competition comes in line with the university's vision of serving and developing the community and embodies the college's vision of spreading the culture of art and design.

Nearly four hundred students from various schools in Amman, both public and private, participated in the competition. They were divided into eight competition topics, three drawing topics for elementary school students and five drawing and design topics for high school students.

​The results were announced at the closing ceremony organized by the faculty in the presence of Dr. Haitham Abu Khadija, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. At the ceremony, incentive prizes and special prizes were distributed to emerging talents, in addition to cash prizes for the first three places in each topic.

The Applied Science Private University have signed a joint agreement of collaboration with Amman Chamber of Industry, the event was attended by the University’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Haitham Abu Khadyjah, Chairman of Board of Directors of Amman Chamber of Industry Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbeer. The University chancellor Prof. Sameeha Jarrah, Dear on the Faculty of Arts & Design Prof. Emad Al Fahmawee. Dr. Mahmoud Ismaeel, Head of department of Interior Design, Ms. Oraib Al-Subaihi. In addition, the event was also attended by Mr. Taher Khaled, a member of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Chamber of Industry and representative of the wood and furniture industries sector, Mr. Mohammad Al-Khalayleh, Director of the Studies and Strategies Department, and Majd Al-Majali of Amman Chamber of Industry Public Relation Department.

The agreement represents serious efforts in improving knowledge and practical application and develop both national and local partnerships, and reflects a mutual commitment to holding training courses and field visits in cooperation with the Jordan Chamber of Industry, as well as exchanging knowledge and experiences, organizing joint workshops, and providing training opportunities for students, in addition to joint support in the field of Academic and applied research, as this step embodies an advanced vision to enhance applied practical

The Seventh Drawing and Design Competition

The 7th Drawing and Design Competition was organized by the  Faculty of Arts and Design  on Saturday, March 2, 2024, targeting students from both public and private schools in the Amman capital area​​​

​Nearly 400 students, male and female, representing about 100 schools, participated in the competition. The students were divided into eight topics that included various topics in drawing, logo design, fashion design, and interior design, in addition to character design.
The results will be announced, and the awards will be distributed at a special ceremony held next Thursday, 3/7/2024, at the Conferences Palace.

The seventh drawing and design competition is in line with the university’s vision and goals, It represents serving and developing the community by spreading the culture of art and design

Students volunteered for the Clothes Bank event - Royal Hashemite Charity Organization

A group of students from the College of Arts and Design participated in the success of the Clothes Bank event of the Royal Hashemite Charity Organization, which was held on Thursday 12/28/2023. The student volunteers helped sort a large number of bags of donated clothing, which amounted to (148) bags. They participated in sorting them into specific categories (women’s, men’s, children’s, toys, bags, and other miscellaneous), the number of which reached (138) bags after sorting. Then the volunteers moved to the other building to see the stages of preparing the sorted clothes. To donate it in a tactful and organized manner.  

​​In addition to learning about the most important initiatives and activities carried out by the Royal Hashemite Charitable Organization.

Students of the Faculty of Arts and Design participate in the Al-Aqsa Toofan Bazaar

A number of students from the College of Arts and Design participated in the Al-Aqsa Toofan Bazaar on Tuesday, 12/26/2023. The bazaar included a large number of dishes and products prepared by the students, the proceeds of which went back to supporting the steadfastness of the people in Gaza. In addition to a special pavilion that included an introduction to the Palestinian issue and the crimes of the Israeli occupation since the Nakba until now.  ​
​The bazaar, which was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs, is part of the university’s efforts to support Gaza’s steadfastness against the barbaric aggression to which it is exposed.

​​​In​​ a qualitative step that enhances cooperation between academic institutions and leading companies, the Applied Science Private University signed a strategic cooperation agreement with “Arabia Weather”, one of the Ard Group companies, the first and largest group of companies specialized in climate security and climate technology.

This agreement represents a serious effort to enhance knowledge, and practical application and develop national and local partnerships.

The Applied Science Private University was represented at the signing of the agreement by Professor Dr. Samiha Jarrah, President of the University, Professor Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, Dr. Mustafa Othman, Head of Design and Visual Communication Department, and Lec. Hadeel Al-Qur’an, on behalf of the Arabia Weather Company, represented by the General Manager, Mr. Fares Shaaban, and the Public Relations Officer and Academic Operations Specialist, Ms. Souad Al-Ratrout.

This agreement reflects a joint commitment to holding specialized training courses in cooperation with the Arabia Weather Academy, in addition to exchanging knowledge and experiences, organizing joint workshops, providing training opportunities for students, in addition to joint support in the field of academic research. The College of Arts and Design celebrates one of its graduates Designer Farah Daradkeh

​​​The College of Arts and Design hosted designer Farah Al-Daradkeh, one of the college’s graduates, on Wednesday 12/27/2023. To give a lecture entitled: Foundations of holding parties and events within the principles of etiquette, Where the designer Al- Daradkeh explained the guidelines through which various events and activities are designed. Al- Daradkeh graduated from the College of Arts and Design in 2013 and founded her own company for organizing parties and events.  ​​

The College of Arts and Design hosts the designer Mohamed Al-Fahmawi

The designer and social media activist, designer Mohamed Al-Fahmawi, gave an introductory lecture on the latest methods used to promote through social media and build digital identity, At the College of Arts and Design on Wednesday 12/27/2023. Al-Fahmawi explained the method of preparing the designer’s CV and file in a way that includes the information necessary to be provided to the service applicant or when applying for various jobs. It is worth noting that the designer, Mohamed Al-Fahmawi, completed his studies in graphic design and is currently specialized in the field of managing and producing digital content for social media platforms. He is also the founder of the Golden Triangle Project.  

​Fahmawi’s lecture came as part of a group of training workshops and educational lectures organized annually by the College of Arts and Design to develop the talents of its students and enrich their knowledge in various fields.

The Head of the Jordanian Association of Furniture Exporters and Producers lectures at the Applied Science Private University 

​​On Wednesday 12/27/2023, Engineer Muhammad Abbas delivered a lecture at the College of Arts and Design entitled Creative Ideas: Raw Materials and Kitchens, where Engineer Abbas explained the foundations of kitchen design and the materials used, in addition to modern alternatives, their characteristics, and the best ways to use them. The lecture came within the Highlights in Design event, which the College of Arts and Design used to hold annually to develop students’ skills and enrich their knowledge in courses that support their educational career.  

Engineer Muhammad Abbas holds the position of President of the Jordanian Association of Furniture Exporters and Producers.

Hanaa Sadiq lectures at Applied Science Private University 

​I​nternational designer Hanaa Sadiq gave a lecture at the College of Arts and Design, on Wednesday 12/27/2023. Under the title of Arab and international fashion trends. Designer Sadiq discussed the approach that promising fashion designers should follow to create brands with an Arab and local flair. Reviewing the beginnings of this profession in Iraq, Egypt, and Palestine, where the first fabric and dye industries were. Sadiq revealed various aspects of her career, hoping to encourage novice designers to adopt a design approach inspired by the local and Arab environment.  
Designer Hanaa Sadiq is considered one of the Arab designers whose fame has reached international levels while preserving the Arab identity. The designer has won many awards and accolades and has held many international exhibitions in cities considered capitals of style. Sadiq’s lecture came as part of the Highlights in Design 6 event organized annually by the College of Arts and Design to develop the skills of its students and enrich their knowledge in various fields to support their educational journey.  
​It is worth noting that the College of Arts and Design began receiving students who wish to study fashion and accessories design at the beginning of this academic year.

Designing lights workshops 6

The College of Arts and Design organized several training workshops and non-curricular lectures for its students on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. The event proved beneficial for approximately 200 students from various specialties.  

The lectures varied between specialized lectures and educational ones. The first specialized lectures were delivered by international designer Hanaa Sadiq under the title: Fashion design trends while preserving the Arab identity. The second lecture was given by Engineer Muhammad Abbas, head of the Jordanian Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Suppliers, under the title Creative Ideas: Raw Materials and Kitchens.  

 As for the educational lectures, they came to enhance the students’ knowledge in various fields, and included three directions: the first was preparing for celebrations and events within the principles of etiquette, in which the designer Farah Al-Daradkah lectured. The second trend is methods for preparing the designer’s portfolio and self-marketing through social media. The designer and social media activist, Muhammad Al-Fahmawi, lectured on it. The third direction dealt with how to design presentations, and was lectured by LEC. Oraib Al-Subaihi, lecturer of interior design at the college.  

As for the training workshops, they were presented by a number of professors from the Faculty of Arts and Design. The first workshop specialized in training students on creating mosaic compositions of square Kufic script. Presented by Dr. Safaa Jahama; Graphic Design Professor and LEC. Mahmoud Salem; lecturer of drawing and painting. The second was concerned with teaching participants how to use Arabic calligraphy in fashion through stencil printing, and was presented by Dr. Ahmed Al-Barbari, head of the Fashion and Accessories Design Department, and Dr. Olivia Hijaz, professor of fashion design.  

The diversity of lecture and workshop titles offered comes due to the diversity of specializations in the college, which include interior design, graphic design, design for digital media, and fashion design. The College of Arts and Design organizes annually a group of workshops and extracurricular lectures aimed at refining students’ skills away from academic courses, under the title “Highlights in Design.

A field visit to the “Staitieh Decorations Company” factory for manufacturing furniture

​​​A group of students from the Interior Design Department made a field visit to an Staitieh decoration company in North Marka, accompanied by faculty members Prof. Issam Odeh and LEC. Khaled Al-Radayda, where the Staitieh Furniture Manufacturing Factory was visited, and check the contents of the factoryfrom workshops thatrepresents the stages of furniture manufacturing from foundation to finishing.

Where engineers and technicians at the factory explained the machines used in the manufacturing process,and about the materials used, through a detailed and analytical explanation of the processes of manufacturing, assembling and finishing furniture,The accompanying faculty members also provided an analytical explanation of the processes, manufacturing procedures, raw material standards and specifications according to the raw material samples available in the factory.

Opening of the Fine Art Exhibition at the College of Arts and Design in cooperation with the Jordanian Fine Artists Association

Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Samiha Jarrah, President of the Applied Science Private University, the Fine Art Exhibition was opened,which was organized by the College of Arts and Design in cooperation with the Jordanian Fine Artists Association in the college’s exhibition hall,which lasted for three days from November 20 to 23, 2023.

The exhibition was distinguished by the participation of a well-known elite of Jordanian visual artists. The exhibition included a wonderful collection of expressive artistic paintings that came to shed light on the reality of the Palestinian issue.During the exhibition, a distinguished group of artistic paintings with diverse styles and beautiful Fine art ideas were displayed,that reflects the true reality in which we live during this period of events and developments, seeking what is happening in Gaza City, the people of steadfastness and pride.

​The proceeds from all displayed works were allocated to support our people in Gaza.

Multiple art workshops at the College of Arts and Design in cooperation with the Najmat Al-Farid Academy and Schools

As part of the College of Arts and Design’s efforts to spread artistic awareness in society, especially among school students, multiple artistic workshops were organized within the college, extending from 10-9-2023 to 11-21-2023, In collaboration with Najmat Al-Farid Academy and Schools,The college was pleased to receive a group of academy students to benefit from these workshops,The workshops held covered several technical topics related to fashion and accessories design, interior design, multimedia design, and graphic design, The students expressed their interest and enthusiasm for these workshops, which opens a new horizon of creativity for them and creates a state of awareness in them about fine arts in general, applied arts and design in particular, and related matters related to various aspects of life.

​These workshops also showed a bright side of the role played by the Faculty of Arts and Design at the Applied Science Private University in spreading artistic awareness on the one hand, and in cooperating with various institutions and bodies to serve society.

A reception party is held for new students at the College of Arts and Design

Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Samiha Jarrah, President of the Applied Science Private University, the College of Arts and Design organized a reception for the new students, during which they were welcomed through speeches delivered by Professor Dr. Samiha Jarrah, President of the Applied Science Private University, and Professor Dr. Imad Al-Fahmawy, Dean of the College of Arts and Design,They also honored the top students in the college, with a distinguished group of students who participated and won various competitions and extracurricular activities during the past academic year. Gifts were also distributed to all new students.At the end of the ceremony, the students exchanged dialogue with Professor Dr. “Dean of the College” with everything that was on their minds regarding their affairs and studies within the College of Arts and Design.

It is worth noting that this event is held annually with the aim of contributing to the guidance of new students, enhancing their spirit of belonging, and introducing them more to the Faculty of Arts and Design at the Applied Sciences Private University.

A field visit to the city of Salt and a project to rehabilitate heritage buildings

​A group of students from the Interior Design Department made a field visit to the city of Salt, which included a visit to the site of the restoration of the “House of Falah Al-Hamad Al-Khurisat,” and a field visit to the “House of Abu Jaber” museum, “Al-Ain” Square, and the Grand Mosque in the city of Salt, in cooperation with the Balqa’ Antiquities Directorate, and with the participation of A number of faculty members in the Interior Design Department,During the field visit, a detailed and analytical explanation of Qalah Al-Hamad House was given, and an explanation of its heritage and historical importance to the region by the engineers involved in the restoration of the site. The faculty members also gave an analytical explanation of the other heritage areas that were visited in the city of Salt.​​​

A number of students from the University of Applied Sciences win the fashion and accessories design competition

​The University of Applied Sciences announced the remarkable success of a number of students in the fashion and accessories design competition that was held recently. The competition witnessed widespread participation from students across the Kingdom of Jordan who displayed their creative talents in this important field. With pride and distinction, a number of students have succeeded in winning prestigious awards and scholarships in the field of fashion and accessories design.This achievement reflects the innovation and high technical skills of the winning students. It is expected that this opportunity will be a bright beginning for the winners, as they will have the opportunity to develop their skills through practical training and technical workshops.

The competition included a lecture on fashion and accessories design, presented by Dr. Ahmed Al-Barbari, Head of the Fashion and Accessories Design Department.
