The Fashion Design and Accessories Department at the Faculty of Art & Design, Applied Science Private University, participated in the training workshop “FASHION Forward: Mastering the Art of Design through a Vocational Training Diploma,” organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme and hosted by WUSMED in Banyoles – Girona, Spain, from February 9 to 13, 2026. The department was represented by the Head of Department, Dr. Sarah Alkhateeb, and Dr. Olivia Hijaz.
The five-day program focused on developing competence-based teaching methodologies within vocational education and training (VET), particularly in fashion and applied arts disciplines. The workshop emphasized the design of innovative learning activities aligned with professional diploma structures and European academic standards.
The program also included a study visit to La Garrotxa Institute in Catalonia, where participants explored official vocational curricula and practical training facilities. In addition, the delegation visited the ateliers and showroom of Rita Row in Figueres to gain insights into brand management strategies within the fashion industry. The experience was further enriched by a cultural visit to the birthplace of the renowned artist Salvador Dalí.
This participation reflects the Department’s ongoing commitment to advancing teaching methodologies, aligning academic programs with labor market demands, and engaging with European best practices in fashion education.
