Design Insights: Creative Pathways in Graphic Design and Digital Media

As part of its ongoing commitment to providing students with the latest developments in knowledge and the arts, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University organized the event Design Insights: Creative Pathways in Graphic Design and Digital Media on Tuesday, January 6. The event witnessed wide participation from academics and specialists, along with a large attendance of faculty students.

The Graphic Design Department and the Digital Media Design Department contributed through five specialized workshops addressing a variety of themes. The event commenced with a workshop titled Building a Portfolio, delivered by Eng. Razan Mohammed at the Faculty of Dentistry Auditorium. The session focused on strategies for creating a professional portfolio that reflects the designer’s personality and way of thinking, highlights creative capabilities, and aligns with the requirements of the job market.

In addition, Eng. Samer Abbas presented a specialized workshop on Game Development, discussing the concept of digital games, development mechanisms, their growing importance, and the latest advancements in this rapidly evolving industry. In the context of modern digital technologies, Eng. Zuhdi Shbeita delivered a workshop on Animation and Virtual Reality, highlighting the creative applications of these technologies and their expanding role in the fields of art and design.

The fourth workshop, titled Digital Media with a Realistic Touch, was presented by Lec. Lama Khalifa, Lec. Rawaa Harb, and Lec. Farah Al-Sayyed, addressing the realities of the job market and emphasizing the importance of the digital media specialization in the success of advertising campaigns and the creation of impactful visual content.

The workshops concluded with a session titled Printed Color Improvisations, delivered by Dr. Tarek Mossaad and Lec. Fatma Samara at the Printmaking and Etching Lab. This workshop focused on learning new techniques in printmaking and provided space for creative experimentation using contemporary printing methods.

At the conclusion of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design honored the participating speakers in appreciation of their academic and professional efforts, commending the high quality of the workshops and the valuable practical expertise transferred from professional practice to students. Students also expressed their appreciation for the event, noting that it provided them with rich knowledge and qualitative experiences that enhanced their practical understanding and effectively bridged academic study with professional reality.
