Mosaic of Resilience: Art as a Force for Healing and Psychological Support

8-12-2025

The Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University, in collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), organized an art exhibition titled “Mosaic of Resilience” on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to support mental health and highlight the transformative power of art as a means of expression and empowerment. Held at the Faculty’s Art Gallery under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Samiha Jarrah, President of Applied Science Private University, and attended by Mr. Cyril Cappai, Head of Mission of Médecins Sans Frontières in Jordan, the exhibition opened at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8.

The showcased artworks were the outcome of a series of collaborative workshops between the Faculty and MSF, in addition to creations made by patients who participated in specialized art therapy sessions. The training program featured three main workshops: “Thread of Hope”, which introduced the fundamentals of sewing and product design with participants from Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Palestine; an Advanced Fashion Design workshop that encouraged participants to translate their personal stories and experiences into creative designs; and a Painting and Art Formation workshop that provided a free space for emotional exploration through color, line, and texture. The exhibition embodies the university’s vision of fostering mental well-being, empowering individuals to express themselves creatively, and reaffirming art’s role in strengthening human resilience and inspiring optimism.

It also underscores the university’s commitment to cultivating an innovative and supportive artistic environment where creativity becomes a bridge toward healing, empowerment, and meaningful social participation.
