22-7-2025

The Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University, in collaboration with the Mental Health Department of Doctors Without Borders, organized a specialized training workshop entitled Thread of Hope on the fundamentals of tailoring, with the aim of empowering and professionally rehabilitating survivors of war injuries.

The workshop targeted a group of patients currently receiving treatment through MSF programs, representing various nationalities including Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Palestine. Its objective was to develop their practical skills, contribute to improving their quality of life, and strengthen their economic independence. Training was delivered by Ms. Nancy Najeeb, a specialist in the field.

At the conclusion of the workshop, certificates of participation were presented to the attendees by Prof. Feras Darwish El Hajji, Vice President of the University; Prof. Emad Al Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design; and Mr. Obada Al-Asami, MSF Patient Training Officer, in recognition of the participants’ determination and commitment to learning.

This humanitarian and professional initiative reflects the shared commitment of the University and Doctors Without Borders to fostering cooperation in serving affected communities, integrating medical treatment with practical rehabilitation and economic empowerment.

It also represents one of the outcomes of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties, which seeks to harness art and design in supporting recovery pathways and empowerment for patients and the most vulnerable communities.
