As part of its pioneering efforts in community service and women’s empowerment, Applied Science Private University – Faculty of Art and Design, in collaboration with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, organized a specialized training workshop targeting a group of refugees and survivors of gender-based violence. The workshop was supervised by Lecturer Nancy Najeeb from the Department of Fashion and Accessories Design.
Seventeen students participated in the workshop, which focused on the fundamentals of sewing and its practical applications, including the design and production of bedspreads, covers, aprons, traditional cloaks, and abayas. Lecturer Najeeb ensured that the training combined both theoretical and practical components, providing close follow-up with each participant to guarantee effective skill acquisition.
This initiative reflects the university’s mission to promote the role of art and design as tools for community development and to empower women by creating practical opportunities that open new avenues for work and creativity.
Lecturer Nancy Najeeb emphasized that the Department of Fashion and Accessories Design is committed to channeling its academic expertise toward serving the community, highlighting that these workshops not only enhance participants’ technical abilities but also help rebuild their confidence and enable them to turn their skills into a means of self-reliance and economic support.
Through such initiatives, Applied Science Private University continues to strengthen its position as a leading educational institution whose mission goes beyond academic instruction to embrace social responsibility and build effective bridges between the university and the community through art and creativity.
