Lecture on Advanced Lighting Technology at the Faculty of Art and Design

​The Department of Interior Design at the Faculty of Art and Design, Applied Science Private University, hosted Eng. Omar Al-Najjar for a distinguished lecture titled "Advanced Lighting Technology" on Monday, May 12, 2025.

This topic constitutes a significant component of the graduate course "Advanced Technology in Interior Design," taught to master's students in the Interior Design program under the supervision of Dr. Nasser Al-Maghrabi, with all sixteen enrolled students in attendance.

The lecture covered several key themes, including:

- The Historical Dimension of industrial lighting technology and the discovery of electricity.

- The Expressive Value of electrical technology and its relationship to industrial lighting as a design element that conveys spatial identity and enhances both aesthetics and functionality.

- Electricity and Industrial Lighting as expressive tools in interior design and modern/contemporary architecture, used to create a nighttime visual identity for buildings, highlighting architectural details and transforming structures into artistic landmarks.

- Contemporary Lighting Technologies, including methods for selecting and distributing lighting in projects and buildings, as well as how to calculate appropriate lighting levels in interior spaces based on their function—contributing to energy efficiency through the use of modern lighting technologies and smart control systems.

The Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University continues to pursue its vision and mission of delivering advanced educational and artistic services aligned with modern developments by organizing specialized lectures and seminars across various relevant technological fields.
