As part of its ongoing commitment to providing students with the latest developments in knowledge and the arts, the Faculty of Art and Design at Applied Science Private University organized the event Design Insights on Tuesday, January 6, with wide participation from academics and specialists, and a large attendance of faculty students.
The Fashion and Accessories Design Department contributed through two workshops addressing diverse themes. The first workshop, titled Sublimation Printing for Apparel, was delivered by Eng. Mutasim Aljabari at the Accessories Lab. The workshop focused on digital printing techniques for garments, presenting the latest contemporary methods and technologies, and demonstrating how they can be innovatively and effectively applied in fashion design, while exploring the future prospects of modern printing in this field.
The second workshop, titled Fabric Selection: From Concept to Execution, was delivered by Designer Zainab Kisswani. During this session, students were introduced to various types of fabrics and their commercial names, the characteristics of each type, methods for selecting appropriate fabrics for specific designs, and techniques for draping on the mannequin, leading to the final product.
At the conclusion of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design honored the participating speakers in appreciation of their academic and professional efforts, commending the high quality of the workshops and the valuable practical expertise transferred from real-world professional practice to students. Students also expressed their appreciation for the event, noting that it provided them with rich knowledge and qualitative experiences that enhanced their practical understanding and effectively bridged academic study with professional reality.
