The Fashion Design and Accessories Department at the Faculty of Art & Design, at ASU, took part in a distinguished and active manner in the workshop and closing meeting held in cooperation with the International Trade Centre (ITC). The event took place on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, at the Signia Hilton Hotel in Amman, as part of the MENATEX 2026 project.
This participation aimed to strengthen the role of Jordanian universities in developing the fashion sector and creative industries, while exploring opportunities for academic and industrial collaboration. The meeting witnessed broad attendance from representatives of universities and the industrial sector, in addition to international participation via Zoom.
The event included a review of the key activities of the 2025 project, including field visits inside and outside Jordan, and a discussion of the outcomes that contributed to enhancing students’ skills and promoting the exchange of expertise. At the end of the workshop, the priorities for 2026 were approved, focusing on sustainability, digitalization, improving product quality, and strengthening academic and industrial partnerships, through cooperation between ITC, academic and industrial bodies, and in partnership with government entities.
Dr. Sarah AlKhateeb, Head of the Fashion Design and Accessories Department, emphasized the importance of ensuring that the training programs designed within these activities contribute to developing students’ practical skills and enhancing their academic and professional readiness. Dr. Ahmad ElBarbary, a faculty member, also expressed his pride in the department’s participation in these events, affirming that such cooperation opens new horizons for students and contributes to the development of academic programs.
