Under the guidance and coordination of the Faculty of Art and Design, Applied Science Private University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the international humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders). The agreement aims to establish collaboration in academic, professional, and humanitarian fields, in line with the university’s mission of serving the community.
The MoU focuses on implementing specialized vocational training programs designed to support individuals with disabilities and those affected by wars and disasters. These programs aim to help participants reintegrate into society and rebuild self-confidence through the supervision of faculty members and the use of the Faculty of Art and Design’s technical facilities and laboratories.
The agreement also seeks to develop appropriate training materials and educational curricula, in full coordination between both parties, and in accordance with the humanitarian principles and professional neutrality upheld by Médecins Sans Frontières.
The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from both sides, including: Prof. Samiha Jarrah, President of the University; Prof. Feras El Hajji, Vice President; Prof. Mohammad Ahmad Hamdan, Assistant to the President for International Research Projects; Prof. Dr. Emad Al Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design; Lec. Mahmoud Salem and Lec. Fatma Samara from the Department of Design and Visual Communication. From Médecins Sans Frontières, attendees included Mr. Roshan Ravindra Kumarsamy, Project Coordinator; Ms. Daad Al-Munaizel, Director of the Mental Health Department; and Mr. Obadah Al-Aasmi, Patient Training Officer.
Both parties affirmed their commitment to strengthening this partnership to harness the power of art and design in delivering humanitarian and social messages, and to building a joint training model that effectively and professionally serves the targeted communities.
