As part of the Faculty of Art and Design’s efforts at Applied Science Private University to connect academic learning with practical application, the Department of Interior Design organized a field visit to the Atlanta Wood Manufacturing Factory for students enrolled in the “Technical Drawings 1” and “Principles of Furniture Design” courses. The visit took place the morning of Thursday, November 20th, 2025, under the supervision of Dr. Noor Abu Madi, Lec. Baha Mualla, Lec. Ezz El-Din Suhaila, and Lec. Tasneem Al-Adwan.
Around seventy male and female students from four different sections participated in the four-hour visit, which focused on hands-on practice, strengthening field knowledge, and linking theoretical understanding with practical application. Students observed the stages of furniture design and production across various departments of the factory such as carpentry, manufacturing, upholstery, and glasswork, accompanied by explanations from the engineers and an opportunity to ask questions. This contributed to enhancing students’ precision, creativity, and teamwork skills.
This visit comes as part of the Faculty of Art and Design’s vision to promote field-based learning and connect it with theoretical instruction, helping develop students’ skills, open new horizons for their creativity, and strengthen their readiness to work within a professional design environment.
