Dr. Amin Omar Serves as Judge on the Final Day of the Research Training Program 2026

Dr. Amin Omar participated as a distinguished judge on the concluding day of the Research Training 2026 Program, a four-day intensive initiative focused on advancing research skills in mental health and scientific methodology. The event, organized by the Jordan Pharmaceutical Students' Association - JPSA and hosted at University of Petra in Amman, Jordan, brought together aspiring pharmacy students from across the universities in Jordan to engage in specialized workshops and collaborative research development sessions. 

The Research Training 2026 Program featured academic lectures, hands-on research planning activities, and sessions designed to strengthen participants’ critical thinking and scientific presentation skills. Throughout the event, participants explored essential aspects of research methodology, literature review, and evidence-based practice - crucial competencies for future pharmacy professionals and researchers. 

On the final day of the program, Dr. Amin Omar joined a panel of expert judges to evaluate the participants’ research outputs. His role in the judging panel underscored a shared commitment to fostering excellence in research and mentoring the next generation of pharmacy leaders.

​Applied Pharmacy Enhances Students’ Skills Toward Professional Excellence

In a step that reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science University’s commitment to preparing qualified pharmacists capable of making a real impact on patient care, the Faculty of Pharmacy organized the oral examination for the Field Training (2) course on Monday, 19/1/2026, under the supervision of Dr. Leen Fino, Assistant Dean for Training Affairs.

This examination served as an advanced practical platform that enabled students to translate their academic knowledge into professional pharmaceutical medical consultations according to the highest professional standards, with a focus on effective communication skills and building trust with patients.

The event was distinguished by the participation of a select group of outstanding community pharmacists alongside faculty members from the Faculty of Pharmacy, creating a rich experience that combined academic expertise with practical practice and contributed to enhancing students’ readiness for the job market.

PCR Workshop and Lecture at Applied Science Private University Elevates Biotechnology Learning

In a pivotal step toward enhancing the practical applications of biotechnology in pharmacy education, a comprehensive PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) lecture and hands-on workshop was delivered by Mrs. Ayyah Alaa Zaid Al Kilani from Science Oasis Trading Company, as part of the Pharmaceutical Biotechnology course (907522), under the coordination of Dr. Samaa Taha Abdullah.

This activity was arranged with the valued support of Dr. Amin Omar, Assistant Dean, and Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of the faculty of pharmacy, at Applied Science Private University (ASU).

The workshop provided students with essential technical knowledge and experimental experience in PCR; a core technique in genetic engineering and diagnostics, linking theoretical content with real-time lab practices. This practical exposure aligns with the Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) of the course, particularly:

PLO1 – Learner: by deepening foundational knowledge in molecular techniques.

PLO17 – Quality Manager/Manufacturer: by illustrating how quality diagnostic tools are applied in the pharmaceutical field.

Held during the week covering PCR and DNA sequencing (Week 12: 31/12/2025), this initiative empowered students to engage directly with modern biotechnological tools, preparing them for research and pharmaceutical quality control roles.​​

MSc student Lara Nasereddin is one of the young researchers at the e-AGE25 Conference in Jordan.

Lara Nasereddin delivered an oral scientific presentation entitled: "Antimicrobial Activity, Phytochemical Screening, and Determination of Glucosinolates in Sisymbrium officinale (Brassicaceae) Plant: Conventional Versus Microwave Green Extraction Methods”, under the supervision of Dr. Shady Awwad, at the 15th Conference “Taking the region beyond”, under the theme “Unifying minds”, organized by the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN).
​In her presentation, the student showcased her study on the Sisymbrium officinale plant, which compared conventional and green methods of glucosinolate extraction, as well as phytochemical screening techniques and their effects on microbes. This research is considered the first of its kind to provide a comparative study of this nature.
Lara was the only young researcher representing Jordan and was selected among the top ten emerging researchers from the Arab region. She was also awarded the Recognition and Appreciation Award in honor of her outstanding research contribution.

​The Community Service Committee at the faculty of pharmacy at the Applied Sciences University ASU continues to provide its activities. 

These activities emerge from ASU’s vision to achieve community solidarity, to involve and to utilize students’ energy for the benefit of their community.

On Thursday the 18 of December 2025, the Faculty of pharmacy at ASU held its fifteenth charity bazaar entitled “The Good in Us” under the patronage of the Dean of the faculty of pharmacy, Dr. Samar Thiab and the community service committee’s rapporteur, Dr. Manal Ayyash, in the presence of members of the teaching and administrative staff and university students. The profit of the bazaar is dedicated to benefiting the underprivileged families, orphans, and for sponsoring students.​

Workshop on First Aid and Fire Response in the Workplace

​The Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University held a workshop on first aid and fire response in the workplace on Wednesday, 12-10-2025. The workshop covered the priorities of first aid and the proper handling of cases such as loss of consciousness, seizures, choking, fractures, and fire incidents, with the aim of enhancing the preparedness of the academic and administrative staff to deal with such situations should they occur.

At the end of the workshop, Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, thanked Eng. Sabah Al-Adwan, Chair of the University’s Public and Occupational Safety Committee, and Mr. Ahmad Al-Wahshat for delivering this valuable workshop and for their continued cooperation with the faculty staff to achieve the highest levels of safety for our students in the faculty and the university.​​

​Dr. Banan Ziad, founder of Mandala Company, delivered an outstanding workshop for the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, titled “Pathfinders in the Pharmaceutical Field.”

The workshop witnessed remarkable attendance from students eager to learn about pioneering pathways in the pharmaceutical sector. During the two-hour interactive session, Dr. Banan highlighted key innovation trends in the pharmaceutical field, discussed future opportunities, and explained how to build a distinguished career path in this vital sector. The students actively participated, asking questions and engaging with the topics presented.

Youth Leadership Program and Scholarship – Sydney 2025

The Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University is proud to announce a new and distinguished achievement for the faculty and for Dr. Samaa Taha Abdullah, Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics, who has successfully completed the Youth Leadership Program, Sydney as the representative of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

This prestigious international program was held at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia, from November 24 to 28, 2025, and was organized by the Global Business Forum.

The program attracted an elite group of young leaders from various countries around the world and focused on developing advanced competencies in vital areas, including:

1. Ethical leadership in the age of Artificial Intelligence

2. Emotional intelligence and effective communication

3. Entrepreneurship in the digital economy

4. Cultural intelligence and global communication

5. Career planning in the era of automation and technology

Dr. Samaa was selected as a sponsored and funded participant in recognition of her academic career, research excellence, and impactful contributions to youth empowerment. 

Dr. Samaa was chosen to speak about her project in an independent lecture, where she delivered a talk on the importance of transferring academic technology to industry to create job opportunities and increase the market share of universities. This initiative is part of the incubation program granted to her by the Royal Scientific Society, Jordan and Orange Corners, a Netherland government initiative under the Queen Rania Award for Entrepreneurship.

This participation marks a significant achievement that reflects Dr. Samaa’s commitment to advancing higher education and enhancing the faculty’s presence on the international stage. The outcomes of this pioneering experience will directly enrich the educational process within the faculty by integrating global leadership skills, critical thinking, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship into academic curricula, contributing to the preparation of scientifically distinguished students who are competitive both regionally and globally.

A workshop entitled “Level Up Your Career“

​The Alumni Follow-up Committee, in collaboration with the Cultural and Social Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy – Applied Science Private University, held a workshop entitled "Level Up Your Career" on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Suleiman Atiya, the Pportfolio Manager at the pharmaceutical company Samara Pharma. The session covered key topics related to career development strategies, methods for enhancing readiness for the job market, and guidance on preparing a professional résumé and excelling in job interviews.

In line with the objectives of the Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy, the committee organized a cosmetic health day titled : “Pharmaceutical Preparations… Health and Beauty.”

The event featured a series of valuable and important lectures with a scientific and professional focus, highlighting the role and significance of pharmaceutical preparations in health and beauty. These lectures were delivered by a distinguished group of academics and expert pharmacists, each contributing from their respective fields of specialization.

The day also included an exhibition with the participation of several pharmaceutical companies and drug stores, where they showcased their products, provided free samples, and offered detailed explanations about these preparations.

National Policies to Promote the Rational Use of Antibiotics in Jordan

​The Cultural and Social Committee and the Alumni Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy organized a lecture titled "National Policies to Promote the Rational Use of Antibiotics in Jordan", as part of the activities for World AMR Awareness Week 2025.

This event aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of antimicrobial resistance and to highlight the importance of the rational use of antibiotics in accordance with the national policies adopted in Jordan.

The lecture was held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Hall 4026, with the attendance of faculty and administrative members as well as postgraduate students.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Jabr Mohammad Jabr, Head of the Rational Use and Pharmacovigilance Department at the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, who discussed key practices supporting the optimal use of antibiotics and the national challenges in addressing antimicrobial resistance.​

Applied Science Private University Participates in an Awareness Event for North City Academy’s Students on Skincare and Personal Hygiene

​As part of the efforts of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University to promote health awareness among adolescent girls, the faculty organized an awareness activity at North City Academy targeting 8th, 9th and 10th grade students.

The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Faten Odeh, Coordinator of the Alumni Follow-up Committee, and in collaboration with our outstanding alumna, Pharmacist Farah Barghouth, representing Derma Pella skincare products.

During the event, Dr. Faten delivered a lecture entitled “My Skin, My Care… The Secret of My Beauty”, in which she highlighted the importance of personal hygiene and skincare, explained the correct ways to choose skincare products according to different skin types, and discussed healthy daily habits that help enhancing students’ self-confidence and help reducing common skin problems.

Our alumna, Pharmacist Farah Barghouth, also provided a specialized explanation of the components of skincare products and how to use them safely and effectively, presenting an exemplary model of the role of the Faculty of Pharmacy graduates in supporting community activities and promoting health awareness.

This activity comes within the university’s vision to empower its students and graduates to actively participate in community service, strengthen long-term partnerships between the faculty and its alumni, and contribute to providing the local community with scientifically sound health knowledge.​

Rotana Zayed, a student from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University, completes her clinical training program at Shefaa Al-Orman Cancer Hospital – Arab Republic of Egypt

As part of the activities of the 1st Specialized Youth Pharmacy Forum, organized by Dr. Mandala in collaboration with the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) as the official sponsor, and within the company’s pioneering efforts to empower young pharmaceutical professionals and provide high-level international training opportunities, Rotana Zayed, a student from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University, participated in the hands-on training program offered exclusively by Dr. Mandala in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The program was held at Shefaa Al-Orman Cancer Hospital from 6-16 November 2025.

During this training, the student gained extensive professional and scientific experience across several hospital departments, including:

​Day Care, In-Patient, Out-Patient, Orientations, Quality Assurance, Nutrition, TPN preparation, and IV.

She also developed practical skills in medication verification, dispensing, delivery, and patient safety monitoring using the hospital’s integrated electronic system, which significantly contributes to reducing medication errors and improving the quality of care.

Additionally, the student participated in the 5th Annual Conference of Shefaa Al-Orman Hospital, where she was introduced to the latest research in clinical pharmacy and pharmacokinetics, and learned about the tremendous efforts undertaken by the hospital to reduce cancer rates in Upper Egypt while continuing to provide high-quality treatment services despite relying entirely on charitable donations.

The student expressed her deep appreciation for the warm reception and the professionalism of the medical staff, emphasizing that the experience was both scientifically and personally enriching. She affirmed her commitment to accurately representing the pharmacy profession and promoting medication awareness in a way that contributes to improving the healthcare sector within the community.

We wish Rotana Zayed continued success in her academic and professional journey, and all the best in her future endeavors.​​

“The Role of the Pharmacist in Combating Antimicrobial Resistance: Local Realities and Lessons Learned from Global Experiences”

​Applied Science Private University participates in the Free Medical Day at the Islamic Scientific College Alumni Club under the theme “Golden Age Health” by delivering a lecture on the pharmacist’s role in combating antimicrobial resistance.

Applied Science Private University, represented by the Faculty of Pharmacy, participated in the seventh Free Medical Day held at the Islamic Scientific College Alumni Club under the theme “Golden Age Health.” The event was held under the patronage of the Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court, Yousef Hassan Al-Issawi, and organized by Nobles Sustainable Development Company, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Blood Bank, the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, and a number of hospitals and private-sector companies.

During the event, Dr. Rajaa Al-Qudah from the Faculty of Pharmacy delivered a specialized lecture entitled “The Role of the Pharmacist in Combating Antimicrobial Resistance: Local Realities and Lessons Learned from Global Experiences.” The lecture addressed the vital role of pharmacists in promoting rational use of antibiotics and raising community awareness about the risks associated with their misuse. The topic was particularly timely as it coincided with the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week organized annually by the World Health Organization.

Dr. Al-Qudah emphasized that pharmacists represent the first line of defense against antimicrobial resistance by providing accurate scientific counseling to patients, ensuring that medications are dispensed based on proper medical diagnosis, and participating in national awareness campaigns aimed at preserving the effectiveness of these essential drugs.

The organizers praised the active participation of Applied Science Private University in this humanitarian health event and commended its scientific and community contributions that strengthen collaboration among academic institutions, the health sector, and civil society organizations.

This participation reflects the university’s commitment to its social responsibility and its dedication to empowering students and faculty members to contribute to national initiatives aimed at enhancing public health and improving the quality of life within the Jordanian community.​

Mental Health: A Necessity, not a Luxury

Stemming from the faculty’s commitment to supporting its students in all aspects that foster academic, recreational, and psychological balance—and in light of the upcoming midterm examinations and the psychological pressure students may experience—the Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy held an interactive workshop on mental health delivered by Dr. Mohammad Awab Abu Danoun, titled “Mental Health: A Necessity, Not a Luxury.”

The workshop received great interest from students, both in attendance and in their active engagement with the speaker.

The committee continues to offer activities that contribute to the growth and well-being of its students.​

The workshop was delivered by IPSF trainers – Pharmacy students Abdulkarim Salameh, Omar Rababah, and Ahmad Al-Rawashdeh, and was marked by a highly engaging and participatory atmosphere among the students.The session addressed the importance of utilizing time effectively, techniques for task organization, and achieving balance between academic and personal life, with practical applications and group exercises.  Special thanks to everyone who contributed to th​e success of this outstanding event, which aims to develop the skills of pharmacy students and enhance their abilities in self- and time management.​

Training Workshop Instructions

As part of the Pharmacy Practice Group’s efforts to raise students’ awareness of matters related to pharmacy training, an open introductory workshop was held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the faculty of pharmacy titled: “Pharmacy Training Guidelines.”

The group’s coordinator, Dr. Loay Saadeh, participated in the workshop, which was attended by Dr. Leen Fino, Assistant Dean for Training Affairs, Dr. Raja’ Al-Qudah, Coordinator of the Social and Cultural Committee, and members of the Pharmacy Practice Group. They discussed the latest updates to the new curriculum and highlighted the key points that students must adhere to, emphasizing the importance of following the training instructions and notifying their supervisors and coordinators of any issues that may arise.

Dr. Loay Saadeh led an interactive discussion with students on cases from the training database. The active participation and thoughtful questions from the attendees helped enhance awareness of training requirements, aiming to avoid errors and improve educational and training outcomes in the college — in line with the group’s adopted slogan: “Distinguished pharmacy training… is the best preparation for the job market.”​​

As part of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s activities aimed at developing students’ skills and enhancing their leadership abilities, and under the supervision of the Cultural and Social Committee of the Faculty of Pharmacy, an interactive workshop was successfully held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, entitled “Leadership & Personality Types.”

The workshop was delivered by Faculty of Pharmacy students and IPSF trainers: Abdulkarim Salameh, Omar Rababah, and Ahmad Al-Rawashdeh. It included practical activities and engaging discussions that helped students better understand different personality types and how to interact with them, in addition to developing their leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.​​

Vitamins and My Health : The Secret of Energy and Strength

​In line with the goals of the Community Committee at the beginning of the 2025–2026 academic year, the Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy organized an awareness lecture for school students entitled "Vitamins and My Health: The Secret of Energy and Strength."

Under the supervision of Dr. Manal Ayyash, the committee’s students delivered an engaging and informative lecture to the students of Um Tufail School. The two-hour session included presenting fruits and delivering scientific information in an interactive and appealing way to highlight the importance of vitamins, their effects on human health, their natural sources, and the recommended daily intake. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and positive interaction from the school students through exciting quizzes and symbolic gifts.

It is worth mentioning that such initiatives strengthen the sense of responsibility and social solidarity among the faculty students, especially those participating in these community activities. We extend our appreciation and we thank the pharmacy students who contributed to delivering the lecture for their outstanding effort and active participation.​​

Meeting with New Students at the Faculty of Pharmacy for the Academic Year 2025–2026

​The Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University welcomed its new students in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Samar Thiab, the Assistant Dean, Dr. Amin Omar, the Assistant Dean for Training Affairs, Dr. Leen Fino, the Head of the Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutics Department, Prof. Ahmad Al-Jaberi, and the Head of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy Department, Dr. Laith Alshdifat.

The meeting included an introduction to the various departments of the faculty and the courses offered by each department. The faculty also reviewed the rules and regulations concerning student attendance, absences, and field training, as well as the different committees within the faculty. The aim was to encourage students to excel academically and to participate in extracurricular activities to enhance their skills and foster personal development.

In addition, senior students shared their experiences at the faculty, represented by Ahmed Al- Al-Sammarraie, while Mahmoud Abu Hjeer organized a Kahoot about the faculty where a gift was given to the student who achieved the highest score.

The meeting witnessed positive interaction from the new students. The faculty extends its best wishes to them for success, excellence, and distinction.

Dr. Nagham Hendi as a Keynote Speaker at the “Advances in Precision Medicine” Conference in Qatar

​Dr. Nagham Hendi delivered a distinguished oral presentation titled “Ancestry Shapes Polygenic Risk Beyond Environment” at the 2nd Advances in Precision Medicine Conference (APM2025), co-organized by Hamad Bin Khalifa University and the Qatar Precision Health Institute under Qatar Foundation.

Her presentation showcased findings from her large-scale genomic studies conducted across the Middle East, which examined genetic determinants of complex diseases and ancestry-specific variation in predicting disease risk. These studies represent the first comprehensive assessment of their kind in the region, highlighting the unique genetic landscape of Arab populations.

Dr. Hendi emphasized the importance of developing ancestry-informed polygenic risk models that reflect population diversity, underscoring the limited applicability of Eurocentric models and the need for inclusive approaches to achieve equity in precision medicine.

She was the only selected oral presenter representing the Arab region at this international event and received the Academic Travel Award from the Academic Research Grant (ARG) Program, funded by the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, in recognition of her outstanding research contribution and scientific achievement in precision medicine.​​

The Faculty of Pharmacy takes pride in the research achievements of its academic staff, as Dr. Ahmad Al-Sayed has been recognized as the most published researcher in the Faculty of Pharmacy according to Scopus database.

Participation in the First Specialized Pharmaceutical Youth Forum in Jordan

​Applied Science Private University (ASU) participated in the First Specialized Pharmaceutical Youth Forum in Jordan.

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University took part in the activities of the First Specialized Pharmaceutical Youth Forum, held from October 2–4, organized by Dr. Mandala, under the patronage of the Regional Office of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (EMRpharm-FIP), and in partnership with the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and the Jordan Pharmacists Association.

The forum brought together more than 300 participants, including students, academic experts, professionals, and decision-makers, in a distinguished event that served as a platform for exchanging ideas about the future of the pharmacy profession and professional development in the region.

It is worth noting that the Oncology 5 team won first place in the competition held on the sidelines of the forum. One of the team members was Rotana Zayed, a student from Applied Science Private University. The team was awarded a 10-day training scholarship at Shefaa Al Orman Cancer Hospital, one of the largest specialized hospitals in the Arab Republic of Egypt.​

The School Bag from ASU Pharmacy #16

​In pursuit of the objectives of the Community Service Committee and stemming from religious and social responsibility, and with the beginning of the 2025–2026 academic year, the Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy organized the 16th edition of the “School Bag Initiative” under the title: “The School Bag from ASU Pharmacy.”

The initiative included the distribution of 40 school bags along with stationery supplies.

In cooperation with the Rusaifa Orphan Center and the Wahdat Orphan Center, the committee presented the school bags, stationery, and sweets to orphaned students and children from underprivileged families, wishing them a successful and fruitful school year.

These initiatives strengthen the concept of responsibility and social solidarity.

​The Community Service Committee at the faculty of pharmacy continues to offer its community services and initiatives, which aim to promote community solidarity and instill religious values, as well as social and humanitarian responsibility in its students towards members of society. The committee held the twentieth annual Ramadan Iftar for orphans on Thursday, March 13, 2025, hosting 75 orphans. From three refugee camps—Wahdat, Russeifa, and Baqa'a—the children were hosted on the campus of the Applied Science Private University in a warm, joyful, and happy atmosphere. Eid gifts and Eid clothing vouchers were distributed.​

A Visit to Jordan Sweden (JOSWE) Medical

The pharmaceutical industry in Jordan is considered one of the leading sectors in the Arab region and has reached many global markets. For this reason, the Pharmacy Practice Group at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University organized a visit to one of these distinguished pharmaceutical companies.

On Thursday, May 29, 2025, a group of students from the Faculty visited the JOSWE, located in Na'our. The company's staff led the students on a tour of the various production lines and departments. During the visit, there was an interactive discussion where production supervisors answered the students’ questions and expressed their admiration for the students’ level of knowledge, which was evident in their engagement with the explanations regarding the equipment and operational procedures in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Following the tour, the students attended a lecture in the company’s meeting hall, which focused on the role and job opportunities for pharmacists in pharmaceutical companies, including manufacturing, medical promotion, drug registration, and more.​​

The training conference for trainer development, organized by the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF), held in Ankara, Turkey, from May 15 to 20, 2025.

​A number of students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University participated in the 7th IPSF Euro Trainers’ Development Camp, held as part of the training conference for trainer development organized by the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) in Ankara, Turkey, from May 15 to 20, 2025.

These periodic meetings organized by IPSF are part of a sustainable development training program for pharmacy students and recent graduates. They focus on enhancing participants’ leadership and communication skills, with the goal of preparing highly capable and impactful trainers who can deliver high-level lectures and intensive workshops. These trainers then help enhance the skills of other students in their home countries and are also equipped to lead health initiatives and projects both locally and globally.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy is committed to encouraging students to engage in international events and interact with pharmacy students worldwide. The students who took part in this training—Ahmad Al-Rawashdeh, Omar Al-Rabab’ah, Abdulkarim Salameh, and Yara Al-Ata—will soon hold a workshop to share what they learned during this experience and apply it with their peers at the university.​​

Field trip to the Royal Botanic Garden

​The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, in cooperation with the Pharmacy Practice Group, organized a scientific field trip on Thursday, May 22, 2025, to the newly inaugurated Royal Botanic Garden, which was established to preserve rare plants.

During the visit, a specialized guide ranger from the garden accompanied a group of students enrolled in the Phytotherapy Therapy course on an adventure to explore the various sections of the garden and its biodiversity. The garden hosts more than 600 species of Jordanian plants.

It is worth noting that the Royal Botanic Garden project is one of the distinguished initiatives that enjoys esteemed royal support and vision, aiming to protect biodiversity and support local community development.

A discussion session entitled “Sharing the experience of training among the medical advertising sector with legend drugstore”

​​The Pharmaceutical Practice Group at the faculty of Pharmacy organized a discussion session on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, titled 'Sharing Experiences from Training in the Medical Promotion Sector with Al-Ostoora Medicine Warehouse.' The session included an open dialogue among the attendees and a number of students selected for this experience about their feelings during the interview and training at the warehouse, as well as the field visits to pharmacies to promote the products of Al-Ostoora Medicine Warehouse and its impact on developing their skills. 

Dr. Tareq Awad, the general manager of Al-Ostoora Medicine Warehouse and an alumnus of the faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University, answered students' inquiries about the advantages and challenges of working in the pharmaceutical advertising sector, as well as the points that employers focus on when selecting candidates for this field and the career development path within it. He also shared some important advice for preparing to enter the job market. 

At the end of the session, representatives from the warehouse honored the students who were selected for this initiative, which lasted for three months. Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of the faculty of Pharmacy, also honored Al-Ostoora Warehouse and those involved in this initiative, expressing her welcome and appreciation for the efforts of various pharmaceutical institutions in developing and preparing our students for the job market."​​

Introductory lecture about Natural Products Classification & Registration

​The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy hosted Dr. Nidā’ Sanjāb, a clinical pharmacist, who delivered an introductory lecture on how to classify and register natural products in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA). The lecture took place on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Dr. Sanjāb enriched the knowledge of students enrolled in the Herbal Therapy course by sharing her extensive experience in registering numerous natural products during her long career working with various pharmaceutical warehouses and companies.

At the end of the lecture—which was partially recorded and presented to students along with questions as part of the asynchronous teaching approach—Dr. Reem Abu Tayeh, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, thanked Dr. Sanjāb on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Samar Thiab. Dr. Abu Tayeh also reaffirmed the Faculty’s commitment to welcoming professionals from various pharmaceutical fields to share their expertise and help connect students with real-world industry requirements.

The Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy continues to carry out its activities and community initiatives aimed at promoting social solidarity and enhancing health awareness among members of the community, in collaboration with the Faculty of Nursing and the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences

In this context, the committee, under the supervision of the committee's rapporteur Dr. Manal Ayash, organized a free medical day on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Al-Sabila 2 Schools in the Shafa Badran area. 

The event included a free pharmacy that offered a large and diverse selection of medications, generously provided by our supporting partners from pharmaceutical factories and warehouses. These medications were dispensed to patients based on prescriptions issued by doctors from a variety of clinics, including:

This event reflects the faculty's vision, objectives, and commitment to its students while they are still studying, ensuring they enter the job market with distinction, competence, and proficiency.

​On Thursday, April 10, 2025, the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University hosted its graduating students and supporting partners for an interactive day rich with professional lectures delivered by previous graduates. They shared their experiences with their fellow new graduates.

The event was also attended by our supporting partners, including pharmaceutical companies, warehouses, and community pharmacies, who received resumes from pharmacist graduates and provided guidance on career paths that matched their ambitions, interests, and the requirements of the job market.

Training II and OSCE exams 20241

​As part of the faculty of pharmacy’s efforts to develop and strengthen students’ communication skills and to employ what they have learned in providing pharmaceutical medical advice to patients with the best standards, the faculty held oral exams for Training Course 2 over two days, in addition to the OSCE exam, on Wednesday and Thursday 15-16-2025. This year’s OSCE exam was distinguished by hosting a number of pharmacists to participate in it, in addition to using electronic forms for evaluation.

The oral exam for the field training course 2 included various questions from the course instructors and other colleagues from the faculty of Pharmacy in cooperation with community pharmacists from the accredited training pharmacies. The faculty, represented by its Dean, Dr. Samar Thiab, thanked the distinguished pharmacists who contributed to these exams and welcomed all our distinguished pharmacists to participate in and develop all the faculty 's activities and training exams.​​

Determining the most appropriate career path for each graduate student seeking to find a job opportunity that suits his/her abilities and field of knowledge is a very important matter and a challenge that requires developing personal and professional skills, which requires using multiple employment platforms efficiently to reach appropriate opportunities.

The faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University is keen to always guide their students and prepare them to find suitable job opportunities for them, the Graduates Committee hosted the pharmacist Ahlam Khamis; Director of the Regulatory Affairs and Registration Department at Nirokh Drug Store to give a lecture entitled:

"From Certificate to Success: Your First Steps Towards Pharmaceutical Work".

The lecture was an opportunity to provide practical advice, share real experiences, and open new horizons for graduates to make informed decisions to build a successful professional future.

The lecture covered key topics such as: identifying the most appropriate career direction (pharmacies, pharmaceutical industry, regulatory affairs, or entrepreneurship), developing the required personal and professional skills, and using multiple recruitment platforms efficiently to access suitable opportunities. In addition, the importance of acquiring skills such as writing a CV, conducting job interviews successfully, and highlighting the technical and social skills required in the pharmaceutical sector was discussed.​​

Meeting of the Dean of the faculty of Pharmacy with the students

​​Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, along with several faculty members, met with pharmacy students in the auditorium of the Faculty of Dentistry on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. During the discussion, which lasted about an hour, students raised several issues of interest to different cohorts, including study and exam schedules, various teaching methods such as blended, in-class, and online learning, and the challenges of field training. Their questions were discussed, and their comments were noted with the aim of improving their educational experience.

In the second part of the meeting, Dr. Samar Thiab honored a number of outstanding students for their academic achievements, as well as students who represented the faculty in various university-level activities. This recognition aimed to foster a spirit of competition and encourage students to excel and innovate.

The open meeting concluded with a general knowledge Kahoot challenge game, where the winning teams were rewarded.

The Faculty of Pharmacy warmly welcomes all students to reach out at any time with inquiries or suggestions to enhance the faculty and create a more suitable environment for them.​​

​The Faculty of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Practice Group together with the Council of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at the Applied Science Private University implemented an initiative from Dr. Loai Saadah, Patent File Officer at the Center, to host the distinguished Jordanian scientist, Professor Dr. Mamoun Muhammad Al-Hamadsheh, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of the Pacific in the United States on Sunday 15/12/2024. Dr. Hamadsheh met with Prof. Dr. Samiha Jarrah, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Feras El Hajji, Vice President, Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Najjar, Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Mohammad Hijjawi, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, and the Head of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.  Dr. Al-Hamadsheh presented the story of his important discovery of the drug Acoramidis® in treating heart failure caused by what is known as “Alzheimer's of the Heart” disease. The drug received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration in November 2024. While this discovery represents a landmark event in the history and achievements of our nation’s pharmacists, it confirms the commitment of the faculty of pharmacy and the University of Applied Science Private University to supporting our scientists, publicizing their contributions and inspiring experiences to our students and staff. The Center for Leadership and Innovation honored Dr. Hamadsheh, emphasizing the continued cooperation with our university in scientific research and in academic work.​​

Faculty and administrative staff members greeted the students and addressed their inquiries about university life, the field of pharmacy, and its career prospects. The visit included a tour of the laboratories and various educational facilities within the college.
​​The virtual pharmacy also played a significant role in the visit, offering students a chance to experience a simulated community pharmacy environment. This visit is part of an annual series organized for high school students from various schools, reflecting the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Applied Science Private University's dedication to fostering collaboration with community institutions, including schools.

The initiative labeled as “Your Winter is Warmer with Applied Pharmacy” was launched by the Community Service Committee at the faculty of pharmacy.

On Thursday the 21st of November 2024, blankets and food parcels were distributed to twenty-five families in Jabal Al-Joufah area in Amman. With the efforts of pharmacy students and the faculty’s employees who felt a societal and religious responsibility towards the needy families and orphans in our society to participate in this initiative.

The Faculty of Pharmacy organized its 6th International Conference on Integrative Approaches in Pharmacy (ICIAP 2024).

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Samiha Jarrah, President of the Applied Science Private University, the Faculty of Pharmacy organized its 6th International Conference on Integrative Approaches in Pharmacy (ICIAP 2024). The conference, held on November 13 and 14, 2024, was attended by researchers from Jordan, the United Kingdom, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Palestine, as well as postgraduate students in pharmacy from Jordan.

The conference featured notable participants such as:

- Prof. Dr. Andrew McBain, Professor of Microbiology, The University of Manchester, UK.

- Prof. Dr. Mohamed Dekhil, Director of the Interdisciplinary Research Center at Helwan University in Egypt.

-Dr. Osama Tabara, founder and president of the IVPN network, which specializes in promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise among professionals in the healthcare sector.

The conference was attended by 285 academics and pharmacists from various sectors, including the Ministry of Health, Jordan Pharmacists Association, graduate students, as well as around 170 undergraduate students who are interested in the latest developments in pharmaceutical sciences.

A total of 90 research abstracts were submitted to the conference, of which 64 were accepted. The conference also included an exhibition featuring pharmaceutical companies and various drugstores.

Additionally, the conference featured a poster competition for graduate students from Jordanian universities, with 42 researchers participating. Then the conference concluded with four scientific workshops held at the Faculty of Pharmacy:

The Library Committee, represented by Dr. Shiraz Halloush, in cooperation with the Community Service Committee, represented by Dr. Manal Ayash, at the faculty of pharmacy, organized a visit to the main university library for first-year students on Wednesday, 11/20/2024, where they were accompanied by pharmacist Lana Radaideh, pharmacist Saba Hamam, and committee student members Tharaa Al-Adwan, Abdul Karim Salama, and Sudin Suwaidan.

The library officials met the students and gave an enjoyable lecture about the library departments, its objectives, and the mechanism for accessing books and references required by the student.

Breast Cancer – Pharmacist Role

An Inspiring journey from the living realities of pharmacists shared at the faculty of pharmacy on Wednesday, June 11, 2024 , A unique workshop titled: "Breast Cancer - The Role of the Pharmacist" was organized, where the journey of a breast cancer patient begins from the moment of diagnosis. A comprehensive treatment plan is developed, which includes sequential steps based on the type of the disease, the patient’s condition, and the importance of closely following each part of the treatment plan. This involves paying attention to the finest details and observations that can reduce complications and potential side effects, as well as offering advice and support that plays a fundamental role in the patient's healing.

On the other side, one of the breast cancer survivors shared her experience, discussing how change can be made and the necessity of committing to restoring health balance in all aspects of life, leading to a new mindset and a new life.

Artificial Intelligence – Pharmacy Applications

​​​Keeping up with the modern technological advancement is essential for life. Therefore, the Pharmaceutical Practice Group held an exceptional workshop on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, titled "Artificial Intelligence and Pharmaceutical Applications." The workshop covered the concept of artificial intelligence, its types, and the nature of the problems it addresses as a tool that mimics human thinking and learning processes. An interactive discussion was held about the applications of artificial intelligence in the pharmaceutical and medical sciences sector, enhancing the efficiency and productivity of individuals in performing their various tasks in record time, along with examples and practical studies on the subject. The workshop was presented by Dr. Luay Saada, Chair of the Pharmaceutical Practice Committee, and Ms. Rahma Al-Adawan, a member of the Pharmaceutical Practice Committee.

Training Workshop Instructions

As part of the Pharmaceutical Practice Group's efforts to increase students' awareness of matters related to pharmaceutical training, an introductory lecture was held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, titled "Pharmaceutical Training Instructions." Dr. Iman Miqdadi shared the latest updates on the new curriculum and the key points that students should adhere to, emphasizing the importance of following the instructions and informing their training supervisor of any issues they may encounter.
​Dr. Louay Saada, the head of the Pharmaceutical Practice Group, conducted an interactive discussion with students about cases from the training databases, followed by an announcement of the launch of the "Training Bee Competition," which runs from October 23, 2024, to October 30, 2024. This competition aims to ensure that  faculty students, especially those in training, are familiar with the training instructions, thereby increasing awareness of the requirements, avoiding mistakes, and improving the faculty's outcomes.

Joined lecture ((Training in hospitals & the oral contraceptives in the Jordanian market))

The lecture began with an introduction to the role of the pharmacist in hospitals and highlighted key points to focus on during training in the hospital. Dr. Dana Jarar, head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department at Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital, addressed the topic of venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in hospitalized patients.
​​​In the second part of the session, a discussion was held with pharmacist Haneen Al-Khatib, one of the distinguished pharmacists in student training. They explored the different contraceptive methods available in the Jordanian market, when they can be used, and answered many common questions from users of these medications.​

​In celebration of the start of the new academic year, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University organized a photo exhibition titled "Bees and Their Products" on Thursday, October 17, 2024. The exhibition showcased images of various bee products, their natural sources from flowers, and the different stages of a bee's life.

Engineer Mahmoud Jaber provided a comprehensive explanation to the exhibition attendees about the various products, highlighting the differences in their benefits and preparation methods. He also presented photos of flowers that reflect the environmental and geographical diversity throughout the seasons, as a natural source for producing these bee products.

​At the conclusion of the exhibition, the dean expressed gratitude and appreciation to Engineer Mahmoud Jaber for his efforts in sharing his outstanding photographic work in this exhibition.

Welcome meeting for freshman year

​In celebration of the start of the new academic year, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University welcomed the new students to the faculty on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

The introductory meeting began with an introduction to the Deanship of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the heads of the departments, highlighting their role in facilitating the students' journey during their years of study. The meeting also included an explanation of the specific regulations for the pharmacy major, and a discussion of the new curriculum developed in response to the demands of the job market. A significant portion of the discussion focused on the training mechanism during the study period and its importance. Additionally, the conversation between students and faculty administrators explored the various job opportunities available after graduation.

In the latter part of the meeting, a recent graduate of the faculty, currently enrolled in the master’s program, gave a speech to share their experiences during and after their studies. Following this, a competition was held among the new students using Kahoot platform to test their knowledge of the rules and general information about the major, with prizes awarded to the winners.

The event concluded with friendly conversations and introductions among the new students over coffee and sweets.

​​​The faculty administration welcomes its new students and encourages them to reach out if they have any questions or inquiries. An announcement regarding a meeting with students from different cohorts will be made soon.

Recycling Paper and Books" Initiative "

The Community Service Committee began its activities for this academic year with the initiative of "recycling paper and books", in cooperation with the Decentralized Capital Governorate Council, represented by the Vice President of the Capital Governorate Council, Eng. Ziad Al-Adwan, by launching the initiative in Al-Farouq Secondary Schools for Girls located in Shafa Badran, with the welcome and support of the school's director, Ms. Lamia Dweikat, and in the presence of the Director of the Amman Education Directorate, Dr. Abdul Hakim Al-Shawabkeh, and a number of doctors, distinguished and members of Capital Governorate Council and Directorate of Education

Where the attendees were honored by the Assistant Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Amin Omar, and the Rapporteur of the Committee, Dr. Manal Ayyash, in the presence of a number of colleagues, faculty and administrative staff members of the Faculty, and representatives of the students and students of the Committee, who presented a qualitative and interactive presentation of the importance of recycling in our lives for school students.

The attendees praised such initiatives through speeches delivered by the Rapporteur of the Community Service Committee, the Director of Amman Education, the School Principal and the President and Vice President of the Capital Governorate Council, wishing continuity, cooperation and support for such qualitative activities.​

Workshop titled (How to handle insurance prescriptions)

With the beginning of the new academic year, the Pharmaceutical Practice Group continued its vision of providing distinguished pharmaceutical training to students and bridging the gap between in class education and practical training, as it held on Monday 10-14-2024 a discussion and practical workshop entitled:
 (Dealing with insurance prescriptions)
This workshop received a strong response from the students due to their desire to learn the basic skills for dealing with insurance companies. It began with a comprehensive definition of the health insurance system and the type of services it provides to individuals depending on the insurance coverage, the percentage of deductibility, and the cost resulting from it.
Several models of insurance prescriptions were also presented and discussed, and students were trained on the skill of detecting, solving and treating errors, what is the best way to act in different situations, and how to obtain the approval of the insurance company in the event of suspicion of a problem with the health insurance prescription. 
At the end of the workshop, Dr. Louay Saadeh, Head of the Pharmaceutical Practice Group, honored and thanked Dr. Diaa Amr for her cooperation and constant desire to provide useful information to the students and support them during their training process in community pharmacies.

Oral exam for training- Summer semester 2023-2024

On Sunday 1/9/2024, the faculty of pharmacy hosted a group of pharmacists who supervised the training of a number of faculty students who registered for field training 2 course. The pharmacists participated as external examiners for the oral examination fir the aforementioned course. The oral exam was held with the aim of measuring the extent to which the desired objectives of training students in community pharmacies were achieved in terms of the uses of common medicines, various alternatives and optimal methods of pharmaceutical care. The faculty of pharmacy at the University of Applied Sciences is keen to hold these oral exams while benefiting from the experiences of practicing pharmacists in order to develop training and prepare students for the labor market, in addition to keeping faculty members informed of developments and changes in pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies in the Jordanian market.

The ASPU Pharmacy School Bag

“The ASPU Pharmacy School Bag” is an annual initiative organized by the Community Service Committee at the faculty of pharmacy in several governorates and regions Jordan.

Rusayfa was the station this year, in cooperation with the Rusayfa Center for Community Services, where our pharmacy students prepared school bags with the necessary stationery and presented them to the students at the beginning of the new academic year.

It is worth noting that these activities and initiatives aim to achieve the goals and vision of the university and the faculty from the standpoint of societal and religious responsibility.

A number of faculty students and faculty members participated, including Ms. Manal Ayyash and Ms. Rahma Al-Odwan.

We also extend our thanks to the management of the Rusaifeh Center for cooperating with us and providing the faculty with a commemorative plaque that was handed over to the faculty dean, Dr. Samar Thiab, to add to the faculty’s attainments in community service.

​This agreement, signed on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, reflects the Faculty’s commitment to student training and preparation for the market. The agreement was signed by Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Dr. Hussein Al-She’lan, the Medical Director at Al-Rasheed Hospital Center, in the presence of Dr. Laith Al-Shdifat, the Assistant Dean for Training Affairs, as well as Ms. Arwa Aliyan, the Administrative Director at the hospital , and Dr. Fadwa Badran, the Pharmacy and Supplies Director at the hospital.

The Community Service Committee at the Fcaulty of Pharmacy, organized a scientific and professional day titled "Promising Venues for Careers in Pharmacy: Pharmaceutical Companies"  on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

The event featured scientific and professional lectures delivered by pharmacists holding senior administrative positions in several pharmaceutical companies, including:

• Dr. Ahlam Khamees

• Dr. Anas Alshweiki

• Dr. Leen Khraim

Additionally, Dr. Manal Ayyash presented two lectures: one on pharmaceutical education and continuous professional development, and the other on regulatory affairs and drug registration.

It is noteworthy that most of the lecturers are alumni of the Faculty who shared their experiences with their fellow new graduates, offering advice and guidance to help them start strong and promising professional careers.

Lecture titled: Milk formula: differentiation for better use

​Due to changes in lifestyle and variations in societal behaviors toward children's healthcare, especially in the early stages of their lives, and their essential need for milk as the primary source of nutrients for their growth and health, the Pharmacy Practice Group held an awareness lecture on Monday, July 22, 2024, titled:

"Milk Formula: Differentiation for Better Use"

The lecture initially covered the difference between breast milk and formula milk, which can sometimes cause allergies in children. It then presented the history of milk formula development, the innovator of the idea, the challenges faced, and the scientific experiments and studies aimed at creating fortified and other milk options.

Following that, the lecturer discussed the relationship between mother and child, the benefits and necessity of breast milk for the infant, and the key differences distinguishing each type of formula milk, as the ingredients and their quantities vary according to the child's age group.

The lecture also addressed the stages of child development and the correct sequence for gradually introducing milk preparations to infants from birth, as well as how to gradually incorporate certain types of foods into the child's diet until the child is settled on regular food.

In conclusion, some sources where these preparations can be obtained were mentioned, along with the leading manufacturing and producing countries, in addition to mentioning an overview of the key stages in milk preparation processes such as pasteurization, sterilization, and factory cleanliness.

​​The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Samar Thiab, expressed her gratitude to Dr. Mohamed Qandil for his significant role in educating and imparting his scientific and practical expertise to students, training them, and preparing them for the job market.

A lecture exploring: The Honeybee: A flying pharmacy- Introduction to Apitherapy

​Seeking to keep pace with the latest developments and scientific studies in the field of pharmacy, the Pharmacy Practice Group hosted a unique lecture on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, titled:

The Honeybee: A flying pharmacy - Introduction to Apitherapy

Presented by Engineer Mahmoud Jaber, an expert in this field, the lecture began with a discussion on the anatomical parts of the bee, an overview of its life cycle, and the varying types and products based on the responsible body part and type of flower.

The lecture also covered an introduction to bee products and the raw materials used in their manufacturing, along with reasons for bees collecting these products. Furthermore, it elaborated on the health benefits and therapeutic uses of each type, along with presenting some of the key specifications and standards used to ensure product quality and safety.

Following this, an interactive discussion was conducted on the differences between royal honey and other types of honey, emphasizing the importance of preserving them under specific storage conditions. Samples of various bee products were also displayed.

​Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, thanked Engineer Mahmoud Jaber for sharing his scientific and practical expertise in this pioneering field of natural industries.

Pharmaceutical safety is considered one of the essential pillars of any integrated healthcare system. To further educate students on the importance of awareness in spreading the culture of safety in healthcare, the Pharmacy Practice Group, in collaboration with the Medication Error Awareness Foundation, held a lecture on Monday, July 15, 2024, titled:
Safe dispensing, Save life: The role of pharmacist in medication safety
The lecture began with an introduction to the concept of pharmaceutical safety and the necessity of awareness regarding the risks of medication errors and their impact on various aspects of life such as health and increased costs. It then highlighted expected types of errors resulting from misuse, lack of awareness of side effects, potential drug interactions, or by healthcare providers themselves.
Additionally, the presentation covered key strategies to prevent medication errors and emphasized the pivotal role of pharmacists in enhancing patient care through pharmaceutical safety tools and resources to raise community awareness across all demographics.
Real-life cases and examples were studied, and an interactive discussion session with students was conducted as a practical application.
The Faculty of Pharmacy extends its gratitude to the Medication Error Awareness Foundation for sharing their vision on this vital topic. The lecture received enthusiastic attendance from students, reflecting their positive engagement in acquiring knowledge and understanding.

Dealing with health insurance in the community pharmacy- lecture

The Pharmacy Practice Group held a lecture on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, titled "(Dealing with Health Insurance Companies in Community Pharmacies), presented by Dr. Diaa Amr, who has extensive experience in community pharmacy chains, pharmacist training, and development. She began by defining the concept of insurance companies and the categories and classifications within this system, which may differ in terms of benefits, offers, and services provided, as well as the deductible percentage imposed on health insurance holders.

The potential challenges when dealing with insurance companies were also discussed, along with some common behaviors and mistakes in prescription dispensing. Correct principles and procedures for dealing with them were highlighted, including obtaining approval from the insurance company when there is doubt about any reason that might lead to non-acceptance of the prescription, to avoid errors and financial claims that could lead to litigation.

At the end of the workshop, there was an interactive discussion with the attendees, in addition to practical application on some insurance models with the aim of optimal learning for their dispensing.

The way to get a job in the pharmaceutical marketing and medical advertising sector in collaboration with British courses international academy

On Wednesday, 3/7/2024, the Pharmacy Practice Group, in collaboration with British Courses International Academy, hosted an introductory lecture titled "Path to Securing a Job in Pharmaceutical Marketing and Medical Promotion" presented by their representative, Dr. Anas Al-Shweiki.

The lecture covered several key points, including:

- Reasons for pursuing courses and the necessity for developing acquired personal skills to enhance competitiveness for various jobs in the pharmaceutical sector.

- The distinction between the concept and the final product, emphasizing the importance of understanding pharmaceutical products, various marketing techniques, their fundamentals, and components.

- Marketing goals, outcomes, and the necessity of adopting suitable strategies for achieving success.

- How to attract and retain clients, differentiate oneself, and cultivate self-motivation to refine one's personality in line with different developments.

- Differentiating between personalities and various individuals, stressing the importance for marketers to be adept personality analysts with skills such as persuasion and time management.

Following the lecture, students discussed the skills that require specialized courses according to their needs, followed by an overview of available courses at British Courses International Academy.

On Tuesday, 6/25/2024, the faculty of Pharmacy, in cooperation with the Pharmaceutical Practice Group, hosted Al-Samou Beauty Warehouse, which is considered a company specialized in non-surgical and therapeutic beauty agencies,

​offering the latest advanced products in the Jordanian market The training day began with an introductory lecture about the warehouse, presenting their most important distinctive products, and the appropriate medical conditions for each type. 

This was followed by an open dialogue about the work field as a consultant and beautician, as well as discussing how it differs from working as a medical representative. How it requires certain skills such as persuasion and the ability to attract people, evaluate their conditions, and direct their choice towards the optimal treatment that suits their actual need The opportunity was given to conduct interviews for several faculty students and recent graduates with the aim of selecting some of them for training purposes, which may result in employment opportunities At the end of the day, Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of the faculty of pharmacy, thanked the representatives and emphasized that the faculty is constantly seeking to expand the horizons of cooperation with various pharmaceutical institutions to provide distinctive experiences that will support the student’s journey with practical and personal experience, and contribute to increasing awareness towards keeping up with the latest developments in the field of cosmetics. After qualifying for the final, Applied Science Private University ranked fourth in the Arabic Patient Counselling Competition (APCC) IHOP 6

​The Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University was qualified for the final to gain fourth place in the Arabic Patient Counselling Competition (APCC) IHOP 6

 The competition was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as part of the conference held in the city of Riyadh during the period from May 30 to June 1, 2024. During which the Applied Sciences Private University achieved one of the top five places in the Arab world.

Student Hashem Al-Lawzi qualified for the final, hosting more than 20 universities from all over the Arab world, competing with 36 contestants.

The student was supervised by Dr. Ahmed Al-Sayed and Dr. Louay Saadeh.

Oral exam for training 2

​With the aim of preparing students for the labor market and placing them in an environment similar to the work environment after their graduation, an oral exam was held for the pharmacy students within Training Course 2 on Wednesday 5/29/2024. A group of pharmacists who supervised the training of our students in pharmacies participated in this exam, where discussion took place between them and the students, under the supervision of the training course lecturers. At the end of the exam, observations and recommendations were shared with the aim of developing the training program further and better preparing students for the labor market. After that, the Dean of the faculty of pharmacy thanked the pharmacists, emphasizing the role of all pharmacists cooperating and supervising the faculty’s students in developing the pharmacy profession and transferring their expertise in pharmaceutical care. It is worth noting that the college seeks to survive. We are in contact with various pharmaceutical sectors with the aim of linking the faculty’s outputs with the requirements of the labor market.

 A number of faculty members at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science University participated in the scientific training day for Jerash pharmacists, which was held by Jerash University in cooperation with the Pharmacists Association on Tuesday, 5/21/2024, under the title: 

"Continuing professional development: modern applications and tools in pharmaceutical practice"

Dr. Louay Saadeh, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, gave a valuable lecture on the applications of artificial intelligence in pharmacy and health professions. 

​​While Dr. Manal Ayyash, a member of the teaching staff at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Vice Chairman of the Professional Development and Continuing Pharmaceutical Education Committee at the Pharmacists Association, gave a specific and awareness-raising lecture on continuing pharmaceutical education and instructions for renewing the practice of the profession for pharmacists in Jordan.

Training day for medical promotion in ASU in collaboration with Al-Nawi and Tarqumiyah drugstores

Based on the Faculty of Pharmacy’s enthusiasm to provide the best training opportunities for its students, to support them during their scientific and practical careers, and to share various expertise and experiences, the Pharmaceutical Practice Group, in cooperation with the Quality Warehouse and Tarqumiya Warehouse, held a training day for medical advertising in the faculty on Wednesday 4/24/2024.

 The day began with an introductory workshop on the work of pharmacists in warehouses, which included a dialogue session with students who had undergone training experience within the medical advertising sector, in the presence of representatives of the qualitative warehouse and the Tarqumiya warehouse. The session included a discussion between the students and their colleagues who went through the experience, where they learned about the various aspects of the medical advertising profession, its requirements, and how to prepare for the labor market. They reviewed the challenges they faced during the experience, and how they benefited them on the personal level.

After the end of the session, a presentation was held in the Faculty of Pharmacy, where the trainee students demonstrated their acquired skills in communication and answered the audience’s inquiries about a number of distinguished products of the pharmaceutical warehouse of quality and quality in the market, in addition to providing various instructions, advice on how to take care of the skin and hair, as well as the important and essential vitamins for the body’s health and activity. This was concluded by asking a number of questions with the aim of entering an immediate draw for one of these various products according to the interests of the attendees.

​At the end of the day, the Dean of the  facutly honored the representatives of the Specific Drug Store and the Tarqumiya Drug Store and thanked them for sharing this distinguished training experience with us. It is worth noting that this initiative was coordinated and followed up by the Pharmaceutical Practice Group and Dr. Anas Shweiki with the aim of providing opportunities that would raise the students’ efficiency and optimally prepare them for the labor market, to encourage them to participate in upcoming training initiatives.

​The Community Service Committee at the faculty of pharmacy at ASU organized its annual Ramadan Charity Parcels campaign on the 28th of March 2024 (17th of Ramadan 1445 according to the lunar calendar).

This campaign reflects an aspect of community solidarity, providing charity parcels in the holy month of Ramadan to the needy families.

The committee presented with love twenty food parcels of essentials to families in Jabal Al-Joufah and Al-Taj in the capital, Amman.

Annual Ramadan Iftar for orphans

With the continuous efforts of the Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy at ASU, the committee held its Annual Ramadan Iftar for orphans. The Iftar took place at ASU campus on Wednesday 20/3/2024, the 9th of Ramadan.
Eighty orphans from four orphanages (Al-Wahdat, Al-Natheef, Al-Mahatta and Al-Rusaifah) were invited to an event full of fun and hospitable atmosphere. The Iftar was attended by Dr. Samar Thiab the Dean of the faculty of pharmacy, Dr. Manal Ayyash, the head of the Community Services Committee, and a number of the faculty’s members, administrative staff and students.
​​The faculty students also participated in many recreational and educational games with the orphans prior to iftar. They also presented Eid gifts, vouchers for Eid clothing and sweets and treats for children.

Discussion session (( Regulations of the field training for the students of the pharmacy school ))

The Faculty of Pharmacy seeks to periodically introduce students to pharmaceutical training instructions and ensure continuous follow-up of the progress of the training process in accordance with the regulations followed by the Jordanian Pharmacists Association. On Monday 3/18/2024, the Pharmaceutical Practice Group held a discussion session in the virtual pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy under the title: “Field Training Instructions For students of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University.

Dr. Laith Shdeifat, Assistant Dean for Training Affairs, began the session by introducing the students to the Pharmaceutical Practice Group, explaining its role in assisting and guiding the students during their training periods, with the aim of maximizing the benefit from the training periods so that the students graduate with distinctive pharmaceutical skills that add to health care in the community, and make it easier for the students to engage in the labor market after graduation.

Then, the session discussed the most recent field training instructions and the correct steps and procedures followed to record training hours and have them approved by the Pharmacists Association. Students can view all these instructions and download the field training form electronically from the Faculty of Pharmacy's page on the university's website or Obtain it from the department secretariat on the deanship floor in the faculty.

The number of hours required for the training materials has been mentioned as follows:

- A student who has completed 60 academic hours from the faculty plan has the right to begin training in one of the community pharmacies.

- A student who has completed at least 300 training hours and completed Pharmacology 1 has the right to register for Training 1

- A student who has completed at least 700 training hours and completed Pharmacology 1, Pharmacology 2, and Training 1 has the right to register for Training 2.

- A student who has completed at least 1,000 training hours and has completed Pharmacology 1, Pharmacology 2, Pharmacology 3, non-prescription medications, Training 1 and Training 2 has the right to register for an advanced training course.

- In addition to explaining the steps for filling out the field training form for each training period, with the need for it to be signed by the pharmaceutical practice group before the start of the training, with an emphasis that the group does not sign any training paper retroactively.

There was talk about the importance of students filling out the “logbook" book during their training period and how to record information in it, as an oral test will be conducted for the students in Training 1 and Training 2 based on the information that the student filled out in this book during their training periods.

​In the end, the topics of the various extracurricular activities carried out by the Pharmaceutical Practice Group and the faculty were discussed, and students were encouraged to attend these activities and even suggest any activities or ideas to the group's representatives, including faculty members and students.

It is worth noting that students' interest and constant eagerness to obtain knowledge and information will reflect positively on their academic and practical performance and their optimal preparation for the labor market.

First aid and care of emergencies workshop

Providing distinguished health care is a goal for all health institutions, including the pharmaceutical sector, which is constantly exposed to all medical cases, which may sometimes be emergency. As part of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s mission to develop students’ skills, increase their awareness, and ensure optimal preparation for the labor market, the Alumni Committee, the Laboratory and Public Safety Committee, in cooperation with the Pharmaceutical Practice Group, held a workshop on Thursday 3/7/2024 entitled:

"First aid and emergency medical care"

-The concept of first aid, its purpose, and the most important basic principles that must be taken into account before applying it, such as safety of the place, were introduced.

- Identifying the procedures and measures used in first aid in various emergency situations, the practical application of the steps, and the need for the body to be in an appropriate position.

- Learn some basic skills that are useful in our daily lives, such as measuring blood pressure.

In conclusion, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy honored the speakers and trainers in this workshop

 The Faculty of Pharmacy extends its sincere thanks to the Creative Pharmaceutical Training Academy and the Tanmawyoun Plus team, who have received accreditation from the German Board, for their active participation in developing student awareness and increasing their awareness of the necessity of learning these medical skills and practicing them in practical life, which will reflect positively on the quality of the pharmaceutical sector.

Lecture of New trends and products for women health in collaboration with STEP

Given our interest in women and our continuous endeavor to meet all of their psychological and health needs, and on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Pharmaceutical Practice Group organized a lecture on Thursday 3/7/2024 entitled:

"New trends and products for women's health in collaboration with STEP"

STEP warehouse was hosted and we were introduced to their distinguished and modern products for women’s health care. This included a review of a number of available scientific studies on their products, which also aim to reduce costs and increase productivity and quality of life for women of all ages.

​At the end of the lecture, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy thanked Step Warehouse for their cooperation and valuable participation in supporting and caring for women’s health, and increasing community awareness by building a deeper understanding among students and pharmacists and ensuring they keep up with the latest developments in the pharmaceutical field.

Scientific day: (Continues pharmaceutical education at ASU)

Under the patronage of Dr. Samiha Jarrah - President of the Applied Science Private University, the Faculty of Pharmacy, in cooperation with the Jordan Pharmacists Association, held a special scientific day for pharmacists under the title
“Continuing pharmaceutical education at Rehab Applied School”.
This was on Thursday, February 22, 2024, where the lectures and workshops varied between the role of artificial intelligence in the pharmacy profession and its applications, with discussion of the Hakeem electronic program, and how to provide some emergency first aid procedures, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation. 
The ideal use of medicines and the concept of pharmacovigilance also had a large share of this day, and members of the Pharmaceutical Development and Continuing Education Committee from the Pharmacists Association reviewed the laws for renewing the practice of the profession and answered the questions of many attending pharmacists.
In the last session of the day, field training for students of the faculty of Pharmacy as well as the faculty’s goals for this training were discussed from the perspective of pharmacists and the association.
Dr. Samiha Jarrah - President of the University and Dr. Samar Diab, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, honored the main speakers and the attending companies on this scientific day.
​It is worth noting that more than 100 pharmacists attended this scientific day, on the sidelines of which an exhibition for pharmaceutical companies was held. This day was well received by the attendees. This initiative is considered one of the pioneering initiatives that aims to enrich and enhance cooperation between the various pharmaceutical sectors and the educational sector, as it aspires us to continue cooperation with various pharmaceutical sectors to serve and aim to advance and to develop the pharmacy profession

Personality Types

Based on the efforts of the Pharmaceutical Practice Group in the Faculty of Pharmacy to hone students’ personalities, develop their skills, and help them know and develop their abilities and potentials, the group held a discussion session on Wednesday 2/28/2024 in the virtual pharmacy entitled

"Personality types"

The discussion included several basic topics, the most important of which are: 

1. Identify the four main personality types and the characteristics and characteristics of each type

2. It is necessary for a person to know about himself / herself and try to achieve a balance between these different types, in a way that ensures dealing well with changing circumstances and situations

3. The surrounding environment is one of the factors that influence the individual and his personality, so we must realize the influence and try to address it and focus on developing ourselves based on our future directions and goals.

4. Our ability to distinguish personality types is a strength that enables us to build positive relationships that benefit us.

We emphasize that the process of self-development is a continuous process, as it is the result of practical experiences in the journey of self-discovery and realization of the skills and abilities that distinguish each individual from the other.

Scientific research project proposal competition

Students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Sciences Private University won third place in the scientific research project proposals competition, which was held within Research training program 2024

Organized by the Jordanian Pharmacy Students Association (JPSA), which was held over four days at the Applied Private Science University.​​

The students within the “Clitoria ternatea” team, consisting of students: Muhammad Al-Ustad, Rotana Zayed, Reem Al-Kubaisi, Haneen Al-Dhabib, Batoul Saqur, and Sadeen Al-Rousan, won third place for their research idea.

 The use of Clitoria ternatea as a potential alternative to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: cost effectiveness study.

Dr. Mona Barakat, Dr. Reem Abu Tayeh and Dr. Lynn Fino from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Sciences Private University participated in the competition research jury.

A discussion session in the virtual pharmacy entitled (Sharing pharmaceutical training experience in the field of medical advertising)

Based on the faculty’s passion to provide the best opportunities for students, to pursue their distinguished practical and scientific careers, and to enrich them with various experiences that will refine their personalities and prepare them for the labor market.

On Monday, February 12, 2024, the Pharmaceutical Practice Group held a discussion session in the virtual pharmacy entitled: 

Sharing pharmaceutical training experience in the field of medical advertising.

The discussion included several topics:

- The extent of the university’s eagerness to provide distinguished training opportunities for students and prepare them for the labor market.

- Discussion about the most important personal skills that must be acquired and learned, which reflect the effectiveness of practical life.

- Sharing the students’ practical training experiences, the challenges and situations they faced and how they dealt with them.

 - discussing the most important tips and guidelines for those approaching training opportunities as a medical advertising representative.

Dr. Anas Al-Shwaiki, coordinator of the training program initiative at  AlNajah  Drug store, honored a number of students for their distinguished participation in the training program at AlNajjah drug store within the field of medical advertising.

​The names of those accepted into the training program were announced in Alnaw’ie Drug store as they were selected after conducting individual interviews on the university campus with the aim of completing the training period in the field of medical advertising, which may end with their employment.

Other activities will be announced soon to encourage and support your constant desire to develop and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure your excellence in all pharmaceutical fields.

Toxic relationships and their impact on the psychological aspect

On Tuesday, 4/1/2024, the Social and Cultural Committee, with the support of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University, represented by the dean; Dr. Samar Thiab, held a lecture entitled "Toxic relationships and their impact on the psychological aspect". The lecture included multiple educational and awareness aspects aimed at educating students and preparing them to face various life situations that students may be exposed to during different life stages, especially during their university studies. The lecture was presented by the specialist in the treatment of developmental, psychological and behavioral disorders and the first music therapist in the Middle East, Dr. Hanadi Kaadan, in the presence of a group of faculty members at the faculty. 

​​We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Hanadi Kaadan for this valuable lecture and the impact it left on our students, and we look forward to more educational lectures that aim to advance in various fields. We also invite other students to participate in future activities.

Training II Verbal Examination

As part of the faculty of pharmacy’s continuous efforts to develop the training experience for its students, the faculty hosted a number of distinguished local community pharmacists who supervise the field training of a number of students in their pharmacies. These pharmacists participated in the students’ face-to-face oral exam that is related to the training II course, which was held on Thursday 11/1/2024. This type of oral examination aims to evaluate the students’ training periods and to know the students’ ability to deal with people directly to give general information about the different drug groups, in addition to encouraging students to get rid of fear or anxiety while dealing with patients or colleagues in the health sector after graduation.

​The dean of the faculty, Dr. Samar Thiab, also took this opportunity and the presence of a number of distinguished community pharmacists, and presented them with certificates of appreciation not only for their efforts during the exam, but also for their cooperation and continued dedication to training and developing our students. It is worth noting that a number of meetings took place between the attending pharmacists and a number of faculty members concerned with the subject of training to discuss ways to develop training and discuss ways of cooperation between the college and community pharmacists.

Participation in a regional workshop in Ajman, hosted by the ACPE and the AACP

​A delegation from the Faculty of Pharmacy, represented by its Dean, Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Muhammad Al-Najjar, Dr. Amin Omar, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Dr. Reem Abu Tayeh, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drugs and Rapporteur of the Study Plan Committee, participated in a regional workshop held by the Gulf Medical University in Ajman - United Arab Emirates, in cooperation with the Accreditation Council for Pharmaceutical Education, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and the Commission on Academic Accreditation.

The workshop, entitled “Best Practices for Evaluation in Pharmaceutical Education,” presented methods for writing specific and measurable objectives for courses, methods for aligning evaluation elements with objectives and course content, as well as evaluation statistics used and employed for the purposes of improving student and teacher performance in theoretical and practical courses (laboratories and training), discussing quantitative and qualitative evaluation, accreditations of educational programs, and the foundations of educational programs based on achieving competencies.

The sessions included practical activities and presentations by some participating faculties on how to employ technology in evaluation processes in their faculties.

​It is worth noting that the attendance included delegations from Jordanian, Emirati, Saudi, Egyptian and Iraqi universities.

The team is now qualified to compete at the level of the Middle East and then the world. The team members focused on the problem of food waste, which affects the environmental balance.

Therefore, the “METHANCO” project was launched to convert food waste into methane gas.

Drug Registration and Regulatory Affairs ​​

​With the continuous support of the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Samar Thiab, the Social and Cultural Committee at Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University held on Monday, 4/12/2023, a lecture entitled "Drug Registration and Regulatory Affairs".  

The lecture included educational and technical aspects regarding the mechanisms and the foundations of registration of pharmaceutical products and the regulatory procedures as per the  Jordanian Food and Drug Administration.

The lecture was presented by our colleague Dr. Manal Ayyash in the presence of a group of faculty members.

Al-Morouj Secondary School visit

​​With the continuous support of the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University; Dr. Samar Dhiab, the faculty’s Community Service Committee held its awareness and interactive activity in cooperation with Al-Murouj Secondary School on Thursday 30/11/2023, represented by its esteemed principal, Mrs. Buthaina Al-Adwan. The committee members presented a lecture and a workshop that included topics related to medicinal herbs and their benefits, introducing skin types and their healthy skin care routines. Moreover, the committee members also introduced healthy nutrition and practices when exposed to stress and other specific health conditions. This was part of the community’s periodic activities, which aim for community engagement and cooperation with community institutions, including educational institutions such as public schools​​​

Employment skills workshop

On Thursday, 23/11/2023, the Social and Cultural Committee, in cooperation with the Pharmacy Practice Group at the Applied Science Private University, held an interactive workshop entitled Employment Skills". The "The workshop was presented by Ms. Abeer Asaad, Human Resources Manager at Hikaya Pharmacies Chain.

 A number of important points were discussed, namely: 

• Introduction to LinkedIn.

• How to write a CV with evaluation of a number of students' CVs.

• Experience job interviews with training on how to overcome some challenges.

 We thank Ms. Abeer Asaad for this valuable and informative lecture, which appeared to have captured the students’ attention taking in consideration the many discussion points conversed throughout the workshop. 

As a result, we encourage the rest of the students to participate and engage in such future activities ​

Discussion session giving the opportunity for number of students to share their experiences of training

​​​​​​

Pharmacy practice group arranged on Tuesday the 21st of November a discussion session giving the opportunity for number of students to share their experiences of training in The King Hussein Cancer Centre and in pharmaceutical industry. The requirements, the steps, and mechanisms to be followed to gain training opportunities and internships in the places where they trained were discussed. The trainee student at The King Hussein Cancer Centre simplified the departments at the cancer centre and the tasks each department does.
​Those trainees showed how passionate they are about learning and taking new opportunities and how it will allow them in the future to provide patients with the best healthcare.
the discussion session gained vast interest from students and the presence of the faculty Dean and Doctors to confirm the extent of the faculty’s support to these event that are held inside the faculty, that aims to develop and enrich students and prepare them for the labor market. At the end of the session Dr. Samar Thiab -Dean of pharmacy faculty, awarded each of the speaker students with appreciation certificate and one hour of community service. It’s worth to mention that Pharmacy practice group will organize similar session in near future, and we encourage our students to share their training experience

Annual Charity Bazaar

​On Monday, 11/13/2023, the Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy held its annual charity bazaar under the title “The Good in Us and in Our Graduates,” the proceeds of which were allocated to our people in Gaza, to people in need, and to orphans. The bazaar was opened under the patronage of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Haitham Abu Khadija and the University President, Prof. Dr. Samiha Al-Jarrah and Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Samar Thiab. The bazaar included many traditional food items and local dishes. A large number of faculty members and students participated in the bazaar.​

Meeting the new students in the Faculty of Pharmacy

Meeting the new students in the faculty of Pharmacy with the Dean; Dr. Samar Thiab, Assistant Dean; Dr. Amin Omar, and Assistant Dean for Training Affairs; Dr. Laith Shdeifat. The meeting began with reading Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs in Gaza, the meeting then focused on getting to know the students and introducing them to the various departments of the faculty. Students were also urged to excel in studies and participate in various extracurricular activities to improve their communication skills and develop themselves. In addition, there was a general discussion regarding the field training courses given at the faculty. The meeting concluded by receiving and answering various student inquiries and questions.​​​

'Presentation Skills' Lecture

​On Sunday, 29 Oct 2023, the Pharmacy Practice Group presented a lecture titled 'Presentation Skills' delivered by the development manager at Hikma Pharmaceuticals; Dr. Ibrahim Derbas. The following topics were discussed: how to prepare for presentation factors to consider during presentation how to handle fear and anxiety during presentation different personalities in the audience and how to handle them displaying yourself in accordance with different situations The Pharmacy Practice Group thanked Dr. Ibrahim Derbas, for this valuable lecture, the knowledge gained by students was evident by the quality of the questions asked by the students and their interaction with the presenter. We encourage our students to attend the upcoming training events to improve and broaden their skills​​​

Interactive discussion session under the title 'Dealing with different personal profiles'

​​When it comes to working in the pharmaceutical field, it is necessary to understand the mentality of people around you. This will make it easier to predict how different people react to your requests and demands, thus you can tailor the right approach to address them. Therefore, the pharmacy practice group held an interactive discussion session under the title 'Dealing with different personal profiles' by Dr. Mazen Abu-Samha (Janssen Pharmaceuticals - country head). The lecture discussed the following: - Recognizing the nature of the person in front of you and how to interact with him/her in different situations. - The importance of self-development to attain the skills for effective discussion with different people who have different natures. - The main four personality types and the traits for each one. - Realizing that being able to understand other people with diverse traits while maintaining an open mindset will help develop their character. It is worth mentioning that this lecture had intrigued the students, which reflected positively on the lecture's attendance. Thus, the students were encouraged to interact, making the discussion even more enjoyable. This was a good indicator that students were willing to change their perspective and develop further to be prepared for the labor market. Pharmacy practice group appreciate the efforts of Dr. Mazen Abu-Samha and looking forward to our next workshop.​​​​

Introduction to Training

​On Sunday, October 22, 2023, the Pharmacy Practice Group held an introductory lecture for college students regarding the instructions and requirements to start the pharmaceutical training, which was presented by Dr. Eman Migdadi, a member of the Pharmacy Practice Group. The lecture focused on the importance of the fact that students should follow the requirements and instructions during pharmaceutical training. They also discussed the steps to fill out the training form properly, emphasizing on signing the form retroactively, how to use the training logbook, as well as when to start reporting pharmaceutical information about medicines. The lecture focused on highlighting the importance of starting data transfer to the logbook from the beginning of training, and the importance of aiming to be ready for submission and examination at the end of Training Course 2. At the end of the lecture, a number of challenges that faced the students during their training were discussed, stressing the importance of professional look and attitude during students’ presence in the Pharmacy.​

Introducing newly registered students to the main library

The Community Service and the Library Committees at the Faculty of Pharmacy carried out a joint activity on Thursday, 10/26/2023, which aimed to introduce newly registered students to the main library. The students were accompanied by Dr. Rahma Al-Adwan and students of the Community Service Committee, Suleiman Attia and Abdul Karim Salama.

The students expressed their gratitude from this visit, the library staff graciously provided so much information regarding the library's services and encouraged students to visit the library often to their own benefits.​

A panel discussion session titled 'Training in Hospitals"

The pharmacy practice group held a panel discussion session on Monday 23/10 titled 'Training in Hospitals'. During which Dr. Zain Alswelmyeen discussed all important aspects involved in the process of training in hospitals exposed to while taking the advanced training course.

The students participated in an open discussion about a clinical case from real-life practice perspective. The practice group thanks Dr. Zain Alswelmyeen and her colleagues in the clinical pharmacy department at Ibn Al-Haytham hospital for their dedication to help our students during the training in hospitals.

Moving forward, we encourage our students to attend the upcoming training events to improve broadening their skills​

An introductory lecture titled (Shedding light on Regulatory Affairs and Pharmaceutical Registration: Basic Skills for Every Pharmacist)

In continuation of the Pharmaceutical Practice Group activities, the group held an introductory lecture on Monday, October 16, 2023, titled (Shedding light on Regulatory Affairs and Pharmaceutical Registration: Basic Skills for Every Pharmacist), presented by Dr. Manal Ayyash and Dr. Raghad Al-Muhtasib. Many important points of views were discussed based on their extensive and distinguished experiences in drug registration and regulatory affairs. 
There was a focus on a number of vital points during the lecture, such as:
-Learning about the historical pharmaceutical registration and the role of authoritative bodies in the regulatory process
- Differentiating between pharmaceutical registration and regulatory affairs, knowing the tasks related to each field and learning about the nature of working in those fields.
- exposing to new terminologies such as DMF, eCTD, CTD, and the know how to register a drug in a given country.
- the requirements and skills that must be acquired by those who wish to work in this field.
The lecture was concluded by honoring both Dr. Manal Ayyash and Dr. Manal Almuhtaseb by the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Training Affairs, Dr. Laith Al-Shdifat. The lecture was met with great gratitude by the large number of attendees.

OSCE workshop

On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University held a workshop for faculty members pertaining how to conduct the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination). Dr. Ahmad Al-Rusasi, former examiner in the Canadian Examination Authority for Pharmacy practice, reviewed the history as well as the objectives of this exam and how its implemented in Canada with the attending faculty members. The positives and challenges of this interactive educational tool were discussed in depth. Several real clinical scenarios of pathological cases were analyzed and solved using the same style as the OSCE exam, with a focus on ways to develop our test approach that have been applied in the faculty exams for several years. At the end of the workshop, which lasted approximately three and a half hours, Dr. Reem Abu Tayeh, Head of the

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drugs, thanked Dr. Ahmed Al-Rasasi for his efforts and for his constant cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy, as he had previously given a number of lectures, the last of which focused on the role of the pharmacist in reducing the problem of bacterial resistance to antibiotics.​

Interactive meeting under the title (Practicing the profession of pharmacy in the United States of America)

On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, the Pharmacy Practice Group, in collaboration with the Alumni Follow-up Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University, held an interactive meeting titled:

 

(Practicing the profession of pharmacy in the United States of America)

Where Dr. Mohamed Ziadat explained the requirements to be a licensed pharmacist in the US, discussing what needs be done before traveling to the US such as: documents preparation, the required total points and the choice of which state for the equivalency application, and the necessary exams (such as the FPGEE, TOEFL and NAPLEX) need to be completed for the equivalence were reviewed. An interactive dialogue took place between the students and the lecturer to clarify many points exploiting his personal experience to be a licensed pharmacist in the US. This dialogue left a positive impact and satisfaction on our students, especially after answering many of their questions. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Dr. Laith Al-Shdifat, Head of the Pharmacy Practice Group, thanked Dr. Muhammad Ziadat, who is one of our graduates at the University of Applied Sciences and has been working in many pharmacy chains and hospitals in the US. It is noteworthy that this meeting is part of the activities and workshops organized by the Pharmacy Practice Group as part of its plan to train students with the aim of preparing them for the labor market after graduation. The group will seek to host several graduates of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Applied Sciences who are spread across various pharmaceutical sectors to share their experiences and knowledge with current students at the Faculty of Pharmacy.​​

"The School Bag" annual activity

The Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy carried out its annual activity titled "The School Bag", which aims to secure the needs of children of low income families and orphans with school bags filled  wirh the necessary stationery, coinciding with the start of the new academic year 2023-2024. Wishing all a year full of success and wellbeing for all our students

The distribution included a number of areas in the capital, Amman, namely Al-Baqaa, Al-Nathif, Al-Joufah, and Al-Wehdat.

Ninety-five school bags were distributed.​

Lecture of ((The role of a hospital pharmacist))

The Pharmacy Practice Group at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University organized a lecture, on Wednesday, 26/7/2023, titled:​


((The role of a hospital pharmacist))

The interactive lecture was delivered by the clinical pharmacist Dr. Lina Tashman from Ibn Al- Haytham hospital. The lecture discussed the main responsibilities and duties of hospital focusing on the vital items pertaining the advanced training course in hospitals. Many of the 4th and the 5th year pharmacy students attended the lecture and actively participated in fruitful discussion with the presenter as well as other faculty staff. The discussion focused on the market potential and jobs opportunities as clinical pharmacists or as hospital pharmacists.

At the end of the day, Dr. Samar Thiab and Dr. Laith Al-Shdifat thanked Ibn- Al-Haytham hospital and presented Dr. Lina Tashman with a certificate of appreciation for her efforts in training ASU Pharmacy students. This was followed by a discussion with the Pharmacy Practice Group to exchange recommendations for future training and cooperation.

A second delegation from the University of Camerino- Italy visited ASU

Applied Science Private University welcomed a delegation from the University of Camerino- Italy, as part of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility, Academics and Students exchange agreements signed by the International Relations Office at ASU.

The visit started with a meeting with the university presidency, International Relations Office and a number of deans and members of the different faculties and administrative staff. The visitors were briefed about the different facilities available at ASU and were taken in a tour around the campus. The tour was focused to visiting the Faculty of Pharmacy, as the agreement activated in the previous semesters included the exchange of four students enrolled in the MSc of Pharmaceutical Sciences from ASU to the University Camerino, as well as a number of faculty members from both universities.

In addition, the tour also included visiting the virtual pharmacy, the computer center, the library, the counseling and training center, the craftsmen's corner, the cadaveric microanatomy laboratory, and the indoor playing courts.​

A visit to University of Lincoln-UK

Dr. Ahmed Al-sayed from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University, visited the University of Lincoln in the UK as part of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility agreement signed by the International Relations Office.

The visit included giving lectures to pharmacy students and participating in several activities, including:

1. College of Pharmacy Research Day

2. Faculty of Science Research Exhibition

3. Educational conference of the Strategic Plan 2022-2027

Additionally, possibilities for further academic and research collaboration between the two institutions were discussed, as well as exchanging experiences in the field of teaching.

Academics from the Faculty of Pharmacy visited the University of Camerino in Italy, as part of the implementation of the academic and student exchange agreements, which are part of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility

An academic delegation from Applied Science Private University (ASU) visited the University of Camerino in Italy, which is one of the oldest universities in Europe. The visit included several meetings with researchers at the University of Camerino, in addition, ASU academics gave specialized lectures for postgraduate students at the host university. Moreover, possibilities for further academic and research collaboration between the two institutions were discussed, as well as exchanging experiences in the field of teaching.

The academic delegation included: Prof. Wamidh Talib, Dr. Mona Barakat, Dr. Samar Thiab, and Dr. Loai Saadeh from the Faculty of Pharmacy.

It is noteworthy to mention that during the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023, four students from ASU went to the University of Camerino to carry out a number of research projects related to their master's theses in cooperation with their academic supervisors at the Faculty of Pharmacy-ASU.

ASU-UNICAM Pharmacy Scientific Day

A Scientific Day organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University, in cooperation with the University of Camerino - Italy, titled: "ASU-UNICAM Pharmacy Scientific Day" was held on the 21st of May, 2023. 

The Scientific Day was attended by delegates from the University of Camerino, Jordan Food and Drug Administration, Jordan Pharmacists Association, deans and academics from the faculties of pharmacy in Jordanian universities, representatives of pharmaceutical companies, and a number of community pharmacists and pharmacy students. 

The Scientific Day provided an interactive platform for experts and researchers to present their research, exchange new ideas and experiences, and expand their professional network.  

The Scientific Day also included training workshops that were held for pharmacists and students, as well as an exhibition were many pharmaceutical and medicinal products and instruments from various companies were displayed.

Academics from the University of Camerino- Italy, visited the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Sciences Private University as part of an Erasmus+ Mobility Project

In coordination with the International Relations Office, the dean of the faculty of pharmacy, along with the head of departments and faculty members, welcomed two academics from the University of Camerino as part of the Erasmus+ program. 

The dean of the faculty discussed ways to enhance cooperation and academic partnership between the two institutions, and the academics were taken in a tour to explore the facilities of ASU. 

A lecture was delivered to MSc. students by Dr. Giovanni Caprioli and Dr. Diego Perinelli as part of the course titled: "Advanced Instrumental Analysis" Following that, the visiting academics had several meetings with faculty members who had similar research interests to start establishing research cooperation between the two institutions. 

In addition, a tour of the faculty's facilities was organized where the industrial, instrumental, research laboratories, the virtual pharmacy, and the laboratories dedicated for nutrition and dietetics were visited.

Field trip to United Pharmaceuticals Manufacturer (UPM)...

On Thursday 16-3-2023, Pharmacy Practice Group at the Faculty of Pharmacy-ASU, organized a field visit to the United Pharmaceuticals (UPM), a wholly owned subsidiary of MS Pharma.

The visit included a lecture to introduce the factory's departments and the job opportunities offered for pharmacists in the pharmaceutical industry. The students were shown the various departments of the factory including quality control, tableting, preparation of different pharmaceutical forms and packaging and were introduced to the instruments used for these purposes.

At the end of the visit, the students were given a motivational speech by Dr. Nidal Khleifat, the general manager. This activity is the second event organized after cooperation with MS Pharma during the current academic year. The Faculty of Pharmacy, represented by its dean, Dr. Firas El-Hajji, highly appreciates the cooperation and hospitality of this esteemed pharmaceutical company.

Al-Osra Pharmacies and Corato Company training day at ASU...

The Pharmaceutical Practice Group at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Applied Science Private University held an interactive meeting with representatives from Al-Osra pharmacies and Corato medical company, on Wednesday, 3/15/2023, under the title:​

Aiming to place students in an interactive environment to simulate a job interview in the field of community pharmacy or pharmaceutical marketing, which took place over two parts; a lecture was conducted to share the history of Al-Osra pharmacies group and its development until it reached 17 branches.  The lecturer also covered their training program, clarifying the pharmacist's tasks in various departments in the pharmacy chain. Representatives of Corato medical company also presented the role of pharmacists as medical representatives.

During the second part, a number of students were given the opportunity to conduct individual interviews according to their desire in the field of community pharmacies or the field of pharmaceutical marketing. This interviews paved the road for these students to be trained for possible future job enrolment.

At the end of the day, Dr. Samar Thiab, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, honored the lecturers with certificates of appreciation, followed by a discussion with the Pharmaceutical Practice Group to exchange recommendations for future training and cooperation. ​

Social and Cultural Committee, in collaboration with the Community Service Committee – Faculty of Pharmacy - organized a workshop under the title: Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)

​Social and Cultural Committee, in collaboration with the Community Service Committee – Faculty of Pharmacy - Applied Science Private University, organized a workshop for academic and administrative staff as well as college students under the title:

Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN): a Pharmaceutical Challenge 

on Tuesday 07/03/2023. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Meqdad – TPN and Chemotherapy pharmacist at Hamad General Hospital and a preceptor at the College of Pharmacy - Qatar University. Lecture touched on indications of TPN and how to assess nutritional status. It also summarized the calculations involved and the methods of preparation and administration of TPN. At the end there were interesting and useful discussions, as students and academics expressed their desire to apply this specialty on a larger scale locally.

Finally, Dr. Loai Saadeh, Rapporteur of the Social and Cultural Committee, honored the lecturer with a certificate of appreciation.​

Rawhi Pharmacy training day at ASU

The Pharmacy Practice Group at ASU, in collaboration with the Social and Cultural Committee at Applied Science Private University, organized an interactive meeting for the senior students with Rawhi pharmacy group on Thursday 9-2-2023 under the title:​

The interactive meeting consisted of two parts; In the first part, the representatives from different departments in Rawhi pharmacy delivered a presentation about the values and role of Rawhi pharmacy in the local community and its efforts to train and develop pharmacy students, roles of the pharmacist trainee and intended outcomes by end of the training period were discussed, in addition for the hiring criteria in the pharmacy.  

In the second part: interviews were conducted for number of students one by one aiming to assign them to the training program with the possibility of hiring in the future.

Dr. Firas El-Hajji, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy gave Rawhi pharmacy delegates appreciation certificates followed by a motivational talk to the students. This meeting is one of series of workshops and activities of the training program by the Pharmacy Practice Group to prepare the students for work after graduation and link them with different pharmaceuticals societies.​​

MS Pharma Day

​​The Pharmacy Practice Group, in collaboration with the Social and Cultural Committee and the Students' Union at Applied Science Private University, organized an interactive meeting for the recently graduated and senior students with MS pharma company representatives on Thursday 24-11-2022 under the title:

The interactive meeting was delivered by representatives from different departments in MS pharma; exploring the different roles of the pharmacist in pharmaceutical companies, introducing the different therapeutic areas and markets that are covered by MS Pharma, discussing tips for work in regulatory affairs department and, finally the HR team discussed the proper way to write a CV and some tips for a successful interview.

Prof. Dr. Iman Basheti, the President of the University, Dr. Firas El-Hajji, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy presented the company delegates with appreciation certificates. This meeting is one of series of workshops and activities of the training program by the Pharmacy Practice Group to prepare students for work after graduation and connect them with different pharmaceuticals societies.

A workshop for academic, administrative staff and students at the Faculty of Pharmacy-ASU in the World Antibiotic Awareness Week

​The Social and Cultural Committee, in collaboration with the Community Service Committee and students’ union at Applied Science Private University, organized a workshop for academic and administrative staff as well as students in the World Antibiotic Awareness Week (corresponding to 18 to 24/11/2022) under the title:

Antimicrobial resistance: beyond the surface and the role of the pharmacist on Tuesday 22/11/2022. 

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ahmed Al-Rasasi – the General Manager of Al-Noor Drug Store. It included several topics centered on the causes of the problem of antimicrobial resistance, ways to rationalize the consumption of antibiotics, and introducing and educating students and academics about their pivotal role in this regard. 

Prof. Dr. Iman Basheti, the President of the University, Dr. Firas Al-Hajji, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Dr. Loai Saadah, the Rapporteur of the Committee, presented the lecturer with a certificate and a plaque of appreciation.

The Faculty of Pharmacy at ASU participated in a free medical day in cooperation with Diwan Al Smadi

​The Community Service Committee and the Alumni Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy- ASU organized the participation of students, graduates, academic and administrative staff in a free medical day in cooperation with Diwan Al Smadi, which was held on Saturday the 19th of November 2022, in Alqaria society. The event was hosted by the society's president Dr. Mohammad Nour Alsmadi, and was attended by the senior host at Jordan Radio and Television corporation, Mr. Amer Alsmadi as well as the heads of both committees at the Faculty of Pharmacy-ASU, Dr. Manal Ayyash and Dr. Leen Fino. This event eventually feeds into the sustainable development of the local community's health as it targeted the residents of Jubeiha, Abu Nseir and Shafa Badran areas. At the end of the free medical day Dr. Mohammad Nour Alsmadi presented appreciation plaques and certificates to all the participants for their efforts in organizing this event.

A joint workshop between the Faculty of Pharmacy at ASU and Nairoukh Pharma

​​As the Faculty of Pharmacy has a vision in providing its students with practical skills, a joint workshop targeting the students who are expected to graduate this academic year 2022/2023, was organized with Nairoukh Pharma. The Faculty of Pharmacy represented by its Dean, Dr. Firas El-Hajji, the Social and Cultural Committee rapporteur, Dr. Loai Saadah, and the Community Service Committee rapporteur, Dr. Manal Ayyash, hosted a distinguished pharmaceutical team from Nairoukh Pharma which was represented by Dr. Khamis Khamis, Dr. Ahmed Abanda and Dr. Youssef Mousous on Monday the 14th of November 2022. The workshop included two distinct interactive lectures, the first was about Cross Selling techniques and was presented by Dr. Baraa Al-Borini, while the second lecture was about Drug registration and renewal process and was presented by Dr. Roa’a Al-Fawair. It was agreed on continuous cooperation between the Faculty of Pharmacy and Nairoukh Pharma to train students and to organize more specialized workshops to prepare students for the market.​

A scientific lecture focusing on integrating academic projects with the pharmaceutical industries

​In continuation of the Applied Science Private University’s efforts to bridge the gaps between the academic research and the pharmaceutical industry, Pi Pharma intelligence conducted a meeting with attendees from the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Information Technology at Applied Science Private University. Dr. Nimer Alkhatib, the academic advisor for Pi Pharma and Eng. Nuseiba Al Jaloudi, founder of the company, gave a presentation in which they highlighted the need to integrate digital transformation in the decision making to ensure that R&D spent is on track with the market trends.

The Community Service Committee at the College of Pharmacy organizes an interactive lecture at the Al-Ishraq Quranic Center in cooperation with the Women's Club

​​In continuation to achieve more goals of the Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy, which eventually feeds into the sustainable development of our local community, the Community Service Committee organized an interactive lecture in cooperation with the Women’s Club at Al-Ishraq Quranic Center, which is located in Um Zwaitina- Jubaiha, on Sunday 6/11/2022. 

The interactive lecture titled “Hair Care and Nutritional Supplements” was given by Dr. Manal Ayyash accompanied by two students from the committee, Bayan Ali and Sabah Hazouki. The lecture got a great local attention and was attended by 30 women. 

At the end of the lecture, the Director of the Center, Mrs. Kholoud Al-Jabari, presented the lecturer with a certificate of appreciation, and it was agreed upon to organize further events in future collaboration between the Center and the Faculty of Pharmacy at ASU.​

The Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy organizes the annual charity bazaar for this year entitled "Goodness is in us"

​Under the auspices of Dr. Haitham Abu Khadija, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy held the annual charitable bazaar on Wednesday, 2/11/2022, under the slogan "The good is in us".  

Dr.  Firas El-Hajji; the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at ASU, along with a number of other deans, academics, administrative staff and students attended the charitable event. The bazaar offered different types of food, sweets, natural juices, handicrafts, plants and many other things were sold at the bazaar. The proceeds of the bazaar are allocated to charitable purposes that will benefit our society.

​The Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University, represented by its dean, Dr. Firas Darwish Al-Hajji hosted Palestinian academic colleagues: Dr. Abdul-Qader Al-Qawasmi and Dr. Mohammad Dweib from the Department of Pharmacy/Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at Hebron University, and Professor Fouad Al-Rimawi from Al-Quds University on Thursday the 20th of October, 2022. The aim of the meeting was to consolidate academic and research collaboration between the faculty and the prestigious institutions of Palestine. The Faculty also was aiming to promote sustainable development goals through international relations.​​

As Dr. Muna Barakat, from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University was part of this research group.

The poster was entitled: Evaluation of Grit and its associated factors: an international survey if undergraduate pharmacy students from 14 countries.

​تم العمل على تفعيل الاتفاقية بين مدارس اليوبيل و جامعة العلوم التطبيقية الخاصة، حيث بدأت الطالبة لارا الساكت في الصف الاول ثانوي أول مراحل بحثها في الكلية، حول دراسة تأثير المجال المغناطيسي على نمو الأورام السرطانية في مختبر أبحاث السرطان في الكلية.

الطباخ المتميز (Top Chef) في صيدلة التطبيقية

​قامت لجنة الطلبة في كلية الصيدلة بتنظيم مسابقة طبخ للطلاب بعنوان (Top Chef) و ذلك يوم الاثنين الموافق ١٨/٣/٢٠١٩.

شارك الطلاب بمجموعة مختلفة من الأطباق، و تكونت لجنة التحكيم من عميد كلية الصيدلة أ.د. ايمان البشيتي و رؤساء الاقسام - د. محمود ابو سمك، د. فراس الحجي، د. ريم ابو تايه، ورئيس لجنة المختبرات، د. لؤي حسون.

وحضر المسابقه مجموعة من أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية وطلبة كلية الصيدلة.
