​Seeking to keep pace with the latest developments and scientific studies in the field of pharmacy, the Pharmacy Practice Group hosted a unique lecture on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, titled:

The Honeybee: A flying pharmacy - Introduction to Apitherapy

Presented by Engineer Mahmoud Jaber, an expert in this field, the lecture began with a discussion on the anatomical parts of the bee, an overview of its life cycle, and the varying types and products based on the responsible body part and type of flower.

The lecture also covered an introduction to bee products and the raw materials used in their manufacturing, along with reasons for bees collecting these products. Furthermore, it elaborated on the health benefits and therapeutic uses of each type, along with presenting some of the key specifications and standards used to ensure product quality and safety.

Following this, an interactive discussion was conducted on the differences between royal honey and other types of honey, emphasizing the importance of preserving them under specific storage conditions. Samples of various bee products were also displayed.

Dr. Samar Thiab, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, thanked Engineer Mahmoud Jaber for sharing his scientific and practical expertise in this pioneering field of natural industries.
