Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University Celebrates an Academic Achievement in Patents and Nano Drug Delivery

1-4-2026

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University takes pride in a new academic achievement that further strengthens its research and innovation presence, marked by Dr. Samaa Taha Abdallah, a faculty member at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Applied Science Private University, being recognized as the first inventor among the team of inventors on the patent granted by the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) under number SA 23007 B1, entitled :

“Vortioxetine-Protein complex encapsulated in bio-adhesive polymeric nano micelles.”

The significance of this achievement lies in its connection to the field of oral nano drug delivery. The patent document explains that this innovation involves the development of a nano-formulation based on a vortioxetine complex, with the aim of improving solubility, absorption, and permeability, while also demonstrating industrial applicability through standardized preparation steps and accessible materials. The document also indicates that this system is intended to address known pharmaceutical challenges related to dissolution and stability.

The faculty regards this accomplishment as an institutional asset that goes beyond the individual level, as it reflects the strength of its academic staff in the areas of applied research, innovation, and intellectual property, and enhances the faculty’s image as a supportive environment for scientific productivity with practical impact. This achievement also contributes to advancing the faculty’s direction toward fostering a stronger culture of innovation and encouraging students and researchers to engage in research with the potential for development, protection, and future research partnerships.
