AHA MENA Healthcare Forum 2026

​Dr. Elham Othman, a faculty member at the Faculty of Nursing at Applied Science Private University, participated in the AHA MENA Healthcare Forum 2026, held in Dubai, as a member of the Scientific Committee. During the forum, Dr. Othman also delivered a poster presentation showcasing a specialized research study on methods of teaching Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), aimed at enhancing the competencies of healthcare professionals and improving emergency response outcomes.

This participation reflects Applied Science University’s commitment to strengthening its presence in international scientific forums, supporting research activities, and encouraging faculty members to exchange knowledge and expertise in ways that contribute to the advancement of healthcare education and improved learning outcomes.​

The Applied Science Private University Center for Life Support holds a BLS Instructor Essential Course.

​The Applied Science University Life Support Center held the BLS Instructor Essential Course as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the skills and competencies of ASU academic staff and healthcare professionals in Basic Life Support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The course was conducted under the supervision of regionally AHA accredited instructors, including Ms. Asmaa Al-Sharif from the Ministry of Health and Mr. Loay Sahaouna from the Specialty Hospital, with the participation of Dr. Elham Othman from the Faculty of Nursing at Applied Science University, and in cooperation with Dr. Laith Khairy, a certified instructor from the Jordan Olympic Committee. ​

Health education day for the elderly

​As part of the Communication Skills and Health Education course, students from the Faculty of Nursing at the Applied Science Private University paid a visit to a nursing home, where they organized a health education day for the elderly.

The educational day included awareness sessions on diabetes and high blood pressure, in addition to providing practical guidance on first aid procedures, aiming to enhance health awareness and improve the quality of life for senior citizens. In addition, the students measured blood pressure and distributed small first-aid kits to the residents.

This visit reflects the university’s commitment to community service and to developing students’ practical skills in effective communication, humanitarian interaction, and applying theoretical knowledge in real-life settings.

Empower Every Mind, Embracing Every Challenge

​College of Nursing Hosted a Workshop on Learning Difficulties and Student Empowerment.

The College of Nursing organized a scientific workshop entitled “Empower Every Mind, Embracing Every Challenge”, delivered by Dr. Abdelrhman Tamimi, a faculty member at the College of Nursing. The workshop presented the findings of a research study conducted collaboratively by Dr. Al-Tamimi and nursing students, focusing on learning difficulties among nursing students and their impact on academic achievement, particularly in scientific and research-based courses.

The workshop highlighted the importance of recognising learning difficulties as an academic and educational issue that requires institutional awareness and supportive strategies, rather than stigma. Dr. Tamimi emphasised that universities play a crucial role in creating inclusive learning environments that accommodate individual differences and empower all students to reach their full potential.

Students Lynn Al-Zagha and Farah Aziz actively participated in the workshop by presenting and discussing the research findings. Their contribution reflected a high level of academic engagement and critical understanding of the study’s objectives, methodology, and outcomes.

The students also shared their personal learning experiences through participating in the research process with Dr. Tamimi, noting that this was hands-on involvement significantly enhanced their understanding of the Research Methods course, strengthened their analytical and critical-thinking skills, and helped bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical application.

The workshop further emphasized the role of the university in supporting students with learning difficulties through academic advising, flexible teaching and assessment strategies, faculty development, and the promotion of student-centered research initiatives. Such efforts align with the university’s mission to ensure equity, inclusivity, and quality in higher education.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion attended by faculty members and students, reinforcing the value of collaborative research, student empowerment, and institutional responsibility in addressing learning challenges within nursing education.​​

Faculty of Nursing Hosts “From Fundamentals to Quality: Nursing Practice Exchange” Event

​The Faculty of Nursing organized a scientific and training event titled ​​“From Fundamentals to Quality: Nursing Practice Exchange” on December 18, aiming to promote the exchange of knowledge and practical experience among nursing students in fundamental nursing principles.

The event focused on key nursing skills, including vital signs measurement, medication administration, and infection control, through interactive and hands-on activities designed to bridge theoretical knowledge with clinical practice and enhance the concept of quality in nursing care.

The event was held under the academic supervision of Dr. Haya Abu Maloh, Dr. Alia Al-Momani, and Ms. Dana Abu Jaber, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Tamimi, Dr. Nisreen Al-Khatib who provided guidance and support to ensure the achievement of the event’s educational objectives.

This initiative reflects the Faculty of Nursing’s commitment to strengthening students’ clinical competencies, encouraging collaborative learning, and preparing future nurses to deliver high-quality, safe, and professional nursing care.

Educational campaign for university employees about hypertension and diabetes

​Students from the Faculty of Nursing at the university organized an awareness activity as part of the Health Promotion and Communication Skills course, which consisted of an educational campaign for university employees about hypertension and diabetes.

The campaign included free blood pressure and blood glucose measurements, in addition to providing health guidance on prevention methods, regular follow-up, and the risk factors associated with these two widespread diseases. The students also offered a simplified explanation of the importance of proper nutrition, physical activity, and adherence to treatment for those affected.

The course supervisors emphasized that this activity aims to strengthen students’ skills in health communication, link theoretical knowledge with practical application, raise health awareness among university employees, and encourage them to adopt healthy lifestyles.

The campaign received positive engagement from employees, who praised the students’ efforts and the role of the faculty in promoting health awareness within the university environment.​​​

Honoring the Faculty of Nursing for Its Outstanding Contribution to Community Service Activities

​As part of the events of the International Volunteer Day Forum, and at the invitation of Badri Association for Development and Charitable Rehabilitation, and in partnership with the Community Police and the “Nahnu” platform—one of the Crown Prince Foundation’s programs—the Faculty of Nursing at Applied Science Private University was honored in recognition of its distinguished volunteer contributions and its active engagement in community service.

The forum included several themes aimed at promoting and spreading the culture of volunteerism, and providing a platform for dialogue between security agencies, youth organizations, and local community institutions.

The Faculty of Nursing extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Badri Association and all entities that contributed to organizing this forum, reaffirming its commitment to its role and responsibility toward the local community and our beloved country.

Nursing Faculty Shines at the Smoke-Free Carnival with Pink Hearts

​Students from the Faculty of Nursing at Applied Science Private University participated in the “Smoke-Free Carnival with Pink Hearts,” organized in cooperation with the Health Awareness and Education Directorate at the Ministry of Health, Al Hussein Youth City, and Badri Association for Development and Charitable Rehabilitation.

The students delivered their services to attendees with a high level of professionalism, including conducting vital-sign measurements, raising awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer, and providing a hands-on demonstration of manual breast examination using models from the Faculty of Nursing. Their contributions were widely praised by members of the local community and event officials for their skill and dedication.

At the conclusion of the event, the students were honored with certificates of appreciation as an expression of gratitude for their professional efforts and the valuable services they provided.

Lippincott procedure online training workshop

​As part of strengthening digital learning and evidence-based nursing practice, Ms. Dana Abu Jaber organized an online workshop for nursing students and faculty members at Applied Science Private University, in collaboration with Wolters Kluwer Health, focused on training participants to use the Lippincott Procedures platform on Thursday 18th of November 2025.

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of utilizing trusted, evidence-based clinical resources to enhance safe, confident clinical performance and support decision-making at the bedside.​

Health Sciences Conference “Excellence and Partnership in Healthcare

​Applied Science Private University, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal and in partnership with Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital, inaugurated the activities of the Health Sciences Conference entitled “Excellence and Partnership in Healthcare”, held at the Dead Sea on the 22nd and 23rd of October 2025.

The two-day conference aims to highlight the latest trends in the health sciences fields and to enhance collaboration among experts, academics, and healthcare institutions locally and internationally through discussions of recent scientific and research developments and the exchange of expertise. The conference also covers a wide range of multidisciplinary topics that address current and emerging challenges in the healthcare sector.

Faculty members from the Faculty of Nursing played an active role in the scientific committee and the organizing committee of the conference.

Additionally, the Faculty of Nursing, in collaboration with the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC), participated in conducting a specialized workshop titled “Patient Safety”, which addressed key principles and standards for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective healthcare. The workshop focused on promoting a culture of safety within healthcare institutions, enhancing the competency of nursing staff in dealing with potential risks, and presenting global best practices aimed at reducing medical errors and improving the quality of care.​​

Free Medical Day

The Faculty of Nursing Participates in a “Free Medical Day” at Al- Sabila 2 Schools– Shafa Badran Al-Koum.

As part of its ongoing commitment to community service and outreach, the Faculty of Nursing, in collaboration with other health faculties – the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, participated in the Free Medical Day held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Al- Sabila Schools 2 – Shafa Badran Al-Koum.

The event saw broad participation from pharmaceutical warehouses, physicians, and specialists from various fields, who provided a range of medical and health services to the residents. Faculty members and students from the health faculties offered services including vital signs assessment, health consultations, education on healthy lifestyles, as well as free medical examinations and medication distribution.

​This initiative reflects the dedication of the Faculty of Nursing and partnering health faculties to serve the local community, raising health awareness, and reinforcing the importance of collaboration between academic institutions, healthcare providers, and the wider community to promote public health and well-being.​​

Workshop on "Empowering Nurses in Jordan to Identify Deteriorating Patients" Held at Applied Science University

​The Faculty of Nursing at Applied Science University recently hosted a workshop titled "Empowering Nurses in Jordan to Identify Deteriorating Patients," led by Dr. Abdelrhman Tamimi, a prominent expert in nursing education and healthcare. The workshop brought together nursing students from various academic levels, providing a dynamic and interactive learning environment that bridged theory and practice.

The workshop focused on enhancing participants' skills in assessing patients and identifying early signs of health deterioration. It included training on precise clinical assessments, making appropriate decisions, and effective communication with the healthcare team. Participants engaged in hands-on activities and case studies that enabled them to apply their knowledge to real-life scenarios.

Dr. Abdelrhman Tamimi emphasized the importance of promoting professional autonomy among nurses and their pivotal role in improving healthcare quality. He added, "It is essential to adopt evidence-based practices to stay aligned with global standards in hospitals and deliver healthcare that meets international benchmarks."

Scientific seminar "The Data Revolution in Scientific Research and Cancer Control: The Role of Artificial Intelligence."

​The Faculty of Nursing at Applied Science Private University (ASU), in collaboration with the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program, successfully organized a groundbreaking scientific seminar titled "The Data Revolution in Scientific Research and Cancer Control: The Role of Artificial Intelligence." The seminar, held at the university campus, attracted healthcare professionals, researchers, students, and experts from different educational and health institutions. The event, aimed at exploring the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in cancer research and control, highlighted the integration of big data, machine learning, and AI tools in medical research. The speakers shared their insights on how data-driven technologies are reshaping the landscape of cancer detection, treatment, and prevention.

Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to engage with leading professionals in the fields of nursing, oncology, and artificial intelligence. The event concluded with a call for continued collaboration between academia, healthcare providers, and technology experts to harness the power of AI in improving cancer control and scientific research.

Health Promotion & Education Day

​Under the patronage of the Nursing Faculty Dean, Dr. Ghadeer Al-Dweik, an educational day for Health Promotion, and Injuries and Diseases Prevention was organized at the ASU activities 360 building. Students shared information about Health Promotion issues relevant to Body Mass Index Screening with recommended strategies to maintain it normal, seasonal diseases and their management with proper nutrition, in addition to the representation of the nutritional pyramid, blood sugar and blood pressure screening, risks of excessive sugar consumption, visual acuity screening, and lung parameters screening showing hazards and risks of smoking.

In addition, First Aid and CPR principles were demonstrated to visitors of the event, Gerontological issues were also highlighted as risk for falls screening and prevention, Alzheimer disease and its prevention.

Workshop on "Empowering Nurses in Jordan to Become Autonomous in Identifying Deteriorating Patients"

​Under the patronage of the Director of Nursing at Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital- Abdelraheem Zaglol and with the esteemed presence of Professor Dr. Hani Al-Nawafleh, President of the Jordanian Nursing council، Dr Mona Alnsour, Dr Hana Abu Snienah, and Dr. Ghadeer Al-Dweik, a workshop titled "Empowering Nurses in Jordan to Become Autonomous in Identifying Deteriorating Patients: Transitioning from Traditional Practices to Advanced Practices" was held, led by Dr. Abdelrhman Tamimi.

​The workshop was attended by several faculty members from the Applied Science Private University, along with a group of nurses, nursing students, and healthcare professionals. The event aimed to highlight the importance of enhancing the skills of nurses to deliver advanced healthcare services.

The main objective of the workshop was to empower nursing professionals to independently identify patient deterioration using modern tools and techniques, transitioning from traditional practices to more advanced and efficient approaches. This initiative aligns with efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services provided in Jordan.

In his opening remarks, Professor Dr. Hani Al-Nawafleh emphasized the significance of advancing nursing skills to keep pace with global healthcare developments, praising the workshop's role in enhancing participants' professional competencies. Dr. Ghadeer Al-Dweik also highlighted the importance of continuous education and training for nurses to achieve better patient care outcomes.

The workshop included presentations and interactive discussions designed to strengthen the participants' practical and theoretical capabilities, focusing on global best practices in nursing.​

At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Abdelrhman Tamimi was commended for his exceptional efforts in organizing and leading the event. Gratitude was also extended to Abdelhleem Zaglol for his great hospitality and all attendees for their active participation, which contributed to the workshop's success.

Awareness lecture on "Autism Spectrum"

​The Faculty of Nursing at the Applied Science Private University held an awareness lecture on "Autism Spectrum", in collaboration with the Autism Consulting Center and in the presence of guests from the Saudi Cultural Attaché. The lecture aimed to raise awareness about the autism spectrum, its symptoms, and ways to deal with it, as well as to highlight the importance of community support and education in improving the lives of individuals affected by this condition. It also emphasized the need for cooperation between educational and healthcare institutions to support those affected and create an inclusive environment.​​

Academic collaboration between local community institutions

​To enhance academic collaboration between local community institutions, the Faculty of Nursing hosted a number of faculty members and distinguished students from the Emergency Medical Services program at the Civil Defense College. The visit included a field tour of the college's laboratories, the anatomy lab, and the teaching halls. The guests were also briefed on the curriculum plan, learning outcomes, and their assessment methods. Future visits will be exchanged to support mutual benefits and the sharing of experiences between both parties.​​

Welcoming new students 2024/2025

The Faculty of Nursing held an event on Thursday 24/10/2024 to welcome new students for the first semester of the academic year 2024/2025 under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Dr Ghadeer Al-Dweik, and in the presence of faculty members.

​​​The Dean of the College of Nursing opened the event with a welcoming speech to the new students, explaining the goals and advantages of the Faculty of Nursing and stressing the importance of direct communication between faculty members and new students, wishing them a fruitful academic and educational experience. The event included several segments, during which faculty members were introduced, highlighting their academic backgrounds, a video was shown of interviews with graduates of the Faculty of Nursing from their workplaces, and many activities and competitions.

Students’ competition prize

​The students of the faculty of nursing at Applied Science Private University, under the supervision of Miss Dana Abu Jaber, achieved first place among competitors from different universities in the "Climate Resilience in Nursing" project, which is implemented by the Green Generation Association with funding from the Global Centre for Climate Change, Water, Energy, Food, and Health, and in cooperation with the faculty of Nursing at Hashemite University. This achievement is evidence of the academic and creative excellence of the students of the Applied Science Private University, as they succeeded in presenting innovative ideas and solutions to the climate challenges affecting the health sector. This victory reflects the university's commitment to supporting its students, enabling them to compete at the highest levels, and contributing to providing practical and effective solutions to achieve the goals of sustainable development in the fields of nursing, public health, water conservation, and environmental resources.

on Sunday 9/1/2024 in Ibn Al-Nafis Auditorium, where Prof. Susan Al-Majali, Dr. Raja Khater, Dr. Issam Adawi, Mr. Walid Ziada and representatives of the project (USAID Health Service Quality Accelerator Activity) Where it was agreed upon as a recommendation from the seminar to hold many training courses in the future in cooperation with USAID to contribute to enhancing the quality of health care.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Samiha Jarrah, and in the presence of his Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Private University of Applied Sciences, Dr. Haitham Abu Khadija, the Faculty of Nursing, in cooperation with the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program represented by Dr. Reem Al-Ajlouni, and Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital, organized an event entitled (A Step Towards Life... Get Examined) with the aim of raising awareness and early detection of breast cancer, on Thursday 10/24/2024 at the University Conference Center. The event included awareness presentations and an educational lecture presented by Dr. Leen Damra on breast cancer, the importance of early detection and self-examination. The activity included an educational play and a success story of a cancer survivor. A specialized medical team from Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital conducted a clinical examination to detect the disease, and a charity bazaar was held with the participation of a number of university colleges, the proceeds of which were allocated to cancer patients. Women from the local community participated in the attendance and benefited, in the presence of members of the local community council for the Shafa Badran and Abu Nuseir area. Nursing College students and university students participated in this awareness activity, confirming the concept of community work and team spirit that characterizes the University of Science.

Free Medical Day

​Students from the University of Applied Sciences, College of Nursing, and Community Service Committee participated in organizing the free medical day, held on Saturday, March 10, 2024, at Al-Ettifaq International School in Shafa Badran. The event was supervised by Ms. Biyan Alimat, the head of the community service committee at the college, along with Ms. Dana Abu-Jaber and Ms. Bushra Al-Zurkan. Activities included blood pressure, blood sugar, and weight measurements, BMI calculations, and participation in various medical clinics. Blessed be everyone's efforts​​

Memorandum of Understanding between The Applied Science Private University and The Integrated Methodologies for Development Company

​The Applied Science Private University signed an agreement with the Integrated Methodologies for Developemnt which aims to prepare nursing graduates for the American board exam (NCLEX). Professor Samiha Jarrah signed the agreement with the CEO of the Integrated Methodologies for Developemnt Mr. Gabi Ziadat, with the presence of all the following: Dean of Faculty of Nursing Dr Ghadeer Al-Dweik; the Department Head Dr Raghad Abdekader; the chair of alumni committee Dr Aaliyah Momani and Ms Noura Barghouthi from the Integrated Methodologies for Developemnt.

Training workshop on mental health and social support

The Jordanian Nursing Council, in collaboration with the Nursing College at The Applied Science Private University, organized a training wor​kshop on mental health and social support on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO). The workshop involved the participation of 25 students from the college. 

This workshop is part of the national activities carried out within projects aimed at enhancing mental health and is in line with the National Mental Health Plan 2022-2026. 

​The workshop, conducted by Professor Ayman Mansour, a mental health nursing professor, covered the concept of mental health, its aspects, the meaning of mental well-being, various forms of mental stress, ways to deal with general and academic stress, as well as the concept of self-care. It also included strategies for handling academic pressure such as time management, building self-confidence, adaptability, and enhancing the mental health of university students.​

Awareness workshop in the field of first aid...

​The Faculty of Nursing at ASU held an awareness workshop for university students entitled: "First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation". The workshop was presented by distinguished nursing students represented by the students; Juma Al-Souli and Shaaban Qwaider.

The workshop included a set of instructions for dealing with emergency cases, the mechanism for providing first aid, and the distribution of many first aid boxes for students attending from all faculties of the university.

​​Under the patronage of the Vice President of the University, Prof. Saleh Al-Oqdah, and Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Samiha Jarrah, the Applied Science Private University held an awareness lecture entitled (Autistic children and how to deal with them). The lecture was given in the presence of the Director of the Consultative Center for Autism, Mrs. Nour Al-Hiyasat, the Faculty of Nursing, in cooperation with the Consultative Center for Autism,
