"The Use of AI Tools in Education" Workshop

The Faculty Development Center at Applied Science Private University organized a specialized workshop entitled “The Use of AI Tools in Education”, aimed at enhancing faculty members’ skills in integrating artificial intelligence into teaching and academic practice.

​The workshop was delivered by Dr. Bashar Alshouha and held at the 21B122 Computer Lab, Faculty of Dentistry, over two days on Sunday 21/12/2025 and Tuesday 23/12/2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, with an interactive coffee break included. The event attracted faculty members from various colleges who are interested in modernizing teaching methods and improving educational outcomes through technology. The workshop covered a wide range of topics, beginning with an introduction to the role of artificial intelligence in higher education, highlighting what AI can offer university instructors and the importance of staying up to date with emerging AI tools. Participants were introduced to key categories of AI applications currently used in education. Practical sessions focused on AI tools for creating lecture slides and course materials, summarizing course content, and producing educational videos, including fast video generation and talking avatar lectures. The workshop also explored AI-powered tools for image generation, diagrams, and infographics to enhance visual learning. In addition, the workshop addressed AI tools designed to improve student engagement, such as interactive platforms, AI-powered teaching assistants, and tools for creating assignments and assessment rubrics. Attention was also given to how AI can enhance faculty productivity by supporting administrative tasks and, optionally, research assistance. The program concluded with a discussion of ethical and practical considerations related to AI use in education, followed by live demonstrations, a Q&A session, and the sharing of useful resources. This workshop reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to faculty development and innovation in teaching and learning, in line with global trends in digital transformation and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in higher education.

"Developing Course Syllabi and Writing Measurable CLOs” Workshop

​The Faculty Development Center at Applied Science Private University organized a training workshop on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, entitled “Developing Course Syllabi and Writing Measurable CLOs”, with the aim of enhancing faculty members’ skills in designing comprehensive course plans aligned with academic quality standards.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Mohammad Idris, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business, and was attended by a number of faculty members from various faculties. The event was held in the FINC Hall at the Faculty of Information Technology from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The workshop covered several key areas, most notably mechanisms for designing university course syllabi, identifying course-level learning outcomes (CLOs) based on scientific methodologies that ensure measurability and assessment, as well as presenting models that support academics in formulating clear and coherent outcomes aligned with program-level outcomes.​

Orientation Workshop for New Academics 2025–2026

The Faculty Development Center at Applied Science Private University (ASU) organized an orientation workshop for new academic staff members for the 2025–2026 academic year. The two-day workshop was held at the Dentistry College Auditorium.​

The program aimed to familiarize new faculty members with the university’s academic regulations, promote professional and ethical practices, and enhance their teaching and research competencies in alignment with ASU’s mission of academic excellence and quality assurance.

The first day featured sessions on University Regulations and Ethics delivered by the President’s Legal Advisor, Prof. Hamza Abu Issa, and Scientific Research and Promotion Requirements presented by Dr. Mona Barakat, the acting dean of scientific research and graduate studies. Participants were also introduced to the Student Digital Information Platform (My.asu.edu.jo) and the Microsoft Teams synchronous learning platform by Dr. Laith Al-Zboon.

On the second day, workshops were conducted on Preparing Study Plans and Learning Outcomes by Prof. Prof. Thair Kaddumi, Quality Assurance and Accreditation Office Director, and Professional Communication and Student Engagement by Prof. Zakaria Al-Mubasher. In addition, Dr. Laith Al-Zboon led practical sessions on using the Smart Boards and Edugate asynchronous learning platform (Edugate.asu.edu.jo).

The program concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continuous professional development and the effective integration of modern technologies to foster an interactive learning environment at ASU.​​

Teaching Skills and Integrated Digital Interactive Lectures" Workshop

​The Faculty Development Center at Applied Science Private University organized a training workshop on "Teaching Skills and Integrated Digital Interactive Lectures" for the 2025–2026 academic year.

As part of its continuous efforts to enhance the capabilities of faculty members, the Faculty Development Center at Applied Science Private University held the workshop over two days—Wednesday and Thursday, September 24–25, 2025, at the FINC Hall – Faculty of Information Technology.

The workshop was conducted by Professor Dr. Bassam Taha, and aimed at strengthening the educational and training competencies of faculty members by equipping them with the latest skills in designing and delivering interactive lectures within integrated digital learning systems, in line with the evolving needs of the modern academic environment.

The event witnessed positive engagement from the participants, who expressed their appreciation for the high level of scientific and practical content, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in enhancing the quality of university education and improving teaching methods amid the accelerating shift toward digital learning.

This workshop is part of a series of training programs launched by the center in support of the professional development journey of faculty members, and in alignment with the university’s commitment to adopting best practices in modern education.​​

A Workshop on "Scientific Research Writing and Publishing in International Journals"

The Faculty Development Center at Applied Science Private University organized a specialized training workshop titled "Scientific Research Writing and Publishing in International Journals", presented by Dr. Dr. Abdel Rahman Altakhaineh, on Wednesday and Thursday, April 23–24, 2025, at the university campus. The workshop aimed to enhance the skills of researchers and academics in writing and publishing research in accordance with recognized international standards. 

Over the course of two intensive days, the workshop covered several key topics related to scientific research and academic publishing.

The first day focused on:

- Identifying accurate academic information sources and how to utilize them in research writing.

- Differentiating between journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science and those no longer indexed.

- Understanding the publishing requirements of international databases such as Scopus and Web of Science.

- Classifying journals based on impact factors and global ranking systems.

- Detecting and avoiding predatory and commercial journals.

The second day addressed:

- Best practices in selecting and communicating with peer-reviewed electronic journals.

- An overview of global research submission systems.

- Practical applications for journal correspondence and identifying fraudulent journals.

- Effective strategies for responding to reviewers and navigating the academic publishing process professionally.

The workshop aimed to empower participants to publish in reputable, peer-reviewed journals indexed in international databases and raise awareness of the risks associated with publishing in unreliable or deceptive journals. The event saw notable engagement from researchers, highlighting the relevance and importance of the topics discussed.

Training Workshop on Academic Advising via the My.ASU Platform

​The Faculty Development Center organized a training workshop titled "Academic Advising on the My.ASU Platform" on Thursday, April 10, 2025, held in Computer Lab 1G03 at the Faculty of Information Technology.

The workshop aimed to support faculty members in effectively performing their academic advising duties using the university's electronic platform, ensuring proper student follow-up and documented guidance.

The session was delivered by Dr. Fadi Almasalha, who presented from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, covering several key topics, including:

• The process of assigning students to academic advisors

• How to use the My.ASU platform for academic advising, including recording notes and feedback for each student

This workshop is part of an ongoing series of training activities organized by the Center to empower faculty in utilizing digital tools effectively and to enhance the quality of academic advising across the university.​​

Introductory Workshop for New Faculty Members in the Second Semester of the 2024-2025 Academic Year

The Faculty Development Center at Applied Science Private University organized an introductory training session as part of the faculty orientation program for the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year. The session took place on Thursday, March 13, 2025, in FINC Hall at the Faculty of Information Technology.

The workshop aimed to provide new faculty members with essential knowledge about university policies, regulations, and electronic learning platforms, to ensure their smooth integration into the academic environment.

The session included several specialized lectures and presentations, including:

• Dr. Hamza Abu Issa, who presented the session on "University Regulations and Ethics" from 10:00 to 10:50 AM, covering the university’s operational regulations.

• Dr. Muna Barakat followed with a session titled "Scientific Research and Promotion Criteria" from 11:00 to 11:50 AM, discussing research guidelines, support for academic publications, and promotion instructions at the university.

• Prof. Dr. Thair Kaddumi delivered a lecture on "Quality in Higher Education Institutions" from 12:00 to 12:50 PM, focusing on total quality management and its application in higher education.

• The program concluded with a session on "E-learning Platforms" presented by Ms. Hadeel Ahmad from 1:00 to 1:50 PM, which covered the use of the EduGate, Microsoft Teams, and My.ASU platforms in the teaching process.

​This workshop is part of the Faculty Development Center efforts to empower new faculty members and support their integration into the academic community while aligning with the university’s quality standards and academic excellence.​​

The Faculty Development Center held a training workshop titled “Electronic Platforms” on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Dr. Fadi Almasalha presented the My.ASU platform from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by Dr. Mahmoud Albashayreh led a session on EduGate platform from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, focusing on course management, learning resources, and academic activities.

​The workshop aimed to enhance faculty members’ ability to integrate digital platforms into the teaching​​ process.

The Faculty Development Center held its first course for the academic year 2023-2024 for new faculty members

The Faculty Development Center held its first course for the academic year 2023-2024 for new faculty members who have recently joined the staff of the Applied Science Private University across various faculties. The course, titled "Faculty Development Course - Introductory Program for the Academic Year 2024-2025," which took place on Wednesday and Thursday, 23-24/10/2024, in the FINC Hall at the Faculty of Information Technology. Over 60 faculty members attended the course.

The lectures covered a wealth of information on various topics relevant to new members, such as university work regulations, quality in academia, effective communication methods with students, scientific research instructions and promotions. New members were also trained on how to effectively use various e-learning platforms and utilize the smart boards that have been installed in all university lecture halls.

The lectures were delivered by several experienced senior faculty members, including:

• Prof. Mohammad Al-Najjar / Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies
