Applied Science Private University (ASU) organized a specialized workshop titled “Strategic Intellectual Property Management: From Patent Drafting to Commercialization” on Thursday, April 23, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen research, innovation, and academic excellence.

The workshop was delivered by Engineer Mohammad S. His professional track includes managing more than 500 patent filings and contributing to national IP policy development initiatives.

The event was organized with the support of the university, through the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty Development Center, represented by the Dean of Pharmacy; Dr. Samar Thiab, reflecting ASU’s commitment to enhancing faculty capabilities in innovation and intellectual property practices.

Held at the interactive hall of the Faculty of Business, the workshop covered key themes including the intellectual property ecosystem, patentability assessment, patent drafting, prosecution procedures, institutional IP policies, technology commercialization, and IP portfolio management. The session provided practical insights into transforming research output into commercially viable innovations.

Moreover, part of the workshop highlighted the services provided under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between ASU and the Royal Scientific Society (RSS). These services include support in patent filing, prior art search, IP strategy development, and commercialization pathways, enabling researchers to translate their innovations into market-ready solutions.

Additionally, it was highlighted to Faculty members interested in submitting invention disclosures and benefiting from these services to contact Dr. Samaa Abdullah at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Intellectual Property Liaison Officer, for further guidance and support.
