The Office of International Relations at ASU held an introductory workshop for faculty members. The workshop aimed to introduce the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) and highlight the opportunities it offers to researchers and faculty members in scientific and research collaboration and exchange. It also shows available funding and support opportunities for research and academic projects provided by the European Union and various international donor organizations.
In the workshop's first session, Prof. Ahmed Sakhrieh from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah delivered an introductory presentation on AGYA, outlining its goals and role in enhancing scientific and academic cooperation between researchers from Arab countries and Germany.
The presentation also addressed the areas of collaboration offered by the Academy to researchers and faculty members, opportunities to join the AGYA network, participate in scientific activities and programs, and build research partnerships with peers across different disciplines and countries. The importance of the Academy as an international platform for developing joint research projects, exchanging knowledge and expertise, and fostering communication among young researchers in the Arab world and Germany was emphasized.
In the second session, Prof. Mohammad Hamdan from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology outlined funding, capacity-building, and support opportunities for research and academic projects available through the European Union, alongside several international donor agencies. He explained the mechanisms for benefiting from these opportunities, ways to build international partnerships, and the essential foundations for preparing project proposals that align with global funding priorities and programs.
This workshop is part of the Office of International Relations' ongoing efforts to enhance the university's presence in international programs and projects, expand its network of academic and research collaboration with regional and global universities and institutions, and increase faculty readiness to capitalize on funding opportunities, grants, and international cooperation programs.
