The Department of Architecture at Applied Science Private University and Its Progress Toward NAAB International Certification
After a period of dedicated preparation and continuous institutional development, the Bachelor of Architecture program at the Department of Architecture, Applied Science Private University (ASPU), has officially received the NAAB Eligibility for Candidacy Decision, marking an important milestone in the program’s journey toward International NAAB Certification. This achievement positions ASPU among the first private universities in Jordan to reach this advanced stage within the NAAB International Certification process.
The National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB) is one of the most prestigious and globally recognized organizations dedicated to advancing the quality and rigor of professional architectural education. As stated in NAAB’s mission, “The NAAB develops and maintains an accreditation system in professional degree education that enhances the value, relevance, and effectiveness of the profession of architecture.” Achieving Eligibility for Candidacy reflects ASPU’s firm commitment to aligning its academic, administrative, and learning outcomes with international standards of excellence.
This milestone was accomplished through the collaborative efforts of the college administration, faculty members, administrative staff, students, and with the full support of the university leadership. The process covered extensive documentation of courses, continuous quality assurance procedures, assessment of learning outcomes, evaluation of facilities, and review of the overall educational environment in alignment with NAAB requirements.
Currently, the Department of Architecture at ASPU is actively preparing for the Second NAAB Visit, as part of the International Certification (ICERT) pathway. This phase focuses on strengthening compliance with all NAAB Conditions, further enhancing curriculum integration, learning culture, student performance criteria, and institutional support systems.
This achievement represents a major indicator of the strength, maturity, and future direction of ASPU’s architecture program.
