Program Vision 

The Master’s Program in Interior Design aspires to achieve excellence and leadership at both local and regional levels in education and scientific research. It aims to graduate highly qualified professionals capable of producing innovative knowledge and delivering sustainable design solutions that respond to contemporary challenges and societal needs. 

 

Program Mission 

The program is committed to preparing academically and professionally competent graduates in interior design who possess strong research skills, critical and creative thinking abilities, and the capacity to employ advanced technologies in developing sophisticated design solutions. It also promotes sustainability, social responsibility, and an engaging learning and research environment that fosters innovation. 



Program Objectives 

The program aims to: 

- Develop advanced scientific research skills and enable students to produce original research addressing contemporary interior design issues.  

- Enhance theoretical, analytical, and critical knowledge in interior architecture, with emphasis on sustainability and rehabilitation.  

- Foster creative and innovative design thinking grounded in scientific and research-based approaches.  

- Equip students with advanced digital and technical skills in interior design applications.  

- Strengthen communication, leadership, and teamwork skills in professional contexts.  

- Prepare graduates to effectively manage interior design projects with professionalism.  

- Qualify graduates for academic careers through developing teaching and pedagogical competencies in interior design. 

 

Program Description 

​The Master’s Program in Interior Design is an advanced academic program that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application in the field of interior architecture. It addresses advanced topics such as design theory, architectural criticism, sustainability, and building rehabilitation, alongside the application of advanced digital technologies in design development. The program emphasizes research-oriented learning, enabling students to investigate complex design problems and propose innovative, user-centered solutions that consider environmental, economic, and cultural dimensions. 



Teaching and Learning Philosophy 

​The program is grounded in a research-based and student-centered learning philosophy that promotes critical and creative thinking through the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application in advanced design studios. It encourages active student engagement through research, analysis, and exploration, while utilizing advanced digital technologies to support learning and design processes. The program also fosters collaborative learning and multidisciplinary teamwork, ensuring alignment of learning outcomes with labor market needs and sustainable development goals. In addition, it supports the development of pedagogical skills for students who intend to pursue academic and teaching careers. 


 

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) 

PLO1 Research Scientific: Understand the methodologies, approaches and the essential components of scientific research, with the ability to improve critical thinking, writing, and conducting unique and tailor-made research that tackles contemporary issues of the local community as a priority. 

- PLO2 Knowledge and creative and intellectual aspects: Understand the theoretical currents and analysis techniques of interior architecture, with a particular focus on sustainability and buildings rehabilitation. All the while providing innovative solutions for research and design problems through critical and creative means. 

- PLO3 Communication, Leadership, and Teaching: Improve effective communication skills to present interior design projects ideas, and improve the ability to lead design teams in a professional manner. In addition, expand practical and pedagogical skills for teaching interior design courses.  

- PLO4 Advanced Design: Introducing practical and technical aspects to design projects through developing a technological and functional approach for designing interior spaces based on solid scientific research. 

- PLO5 Advanced Technical and Practical Application: Producing mature and holistic design proposals through the usage of advanced and relevant software’s, with a particular emphasis on innovation, precision, ad fulfilling client requirements.  

- PLO6 Professionalism, and Project and Teams Management: Preparing a capable graduate who have a solid grasp on the concept of practice management, and able to effectively plan, organize, and manage various teams to ensure successful project application. 



Graduate Specifications  

- Graduates of the Master’s Program in Interior Design are expected to demonstrate the following competencies: 

- GS1 Scientific Research: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of research methodologies and approaches, with the ability to conduct original, high-quality research addressing contemporary societal and design-related issues. 

- GS2 Knowledge, Intellectual, and Creative Skills: Possess advanced knowledge of interior architecture theories and analytical methods, with the ability to apply critical and creative thinking to develop innovative design and research solutions, particularly in sustainability and building rehabilitation. 

GS3 Communication, Leadership, and Teaching: Exhibit effective communication skills in presenting design ideas and projects, demonstrate leadership in managing design teams, and apply pedagogical skills in teaching interior design courses. 

- GS4 Advanced Design: Develop sophisticated interior design projects that integrate functional, technological, and aesthetic considerations, grounded in scientific research and evidence-based approaches. 

- GS5 Advanced Technical and Practical Applications: Produce comprehensive and professional design solutions using advanced digital tools and technologies, ensuring innovation, precision, and alignment with client requirements. 

- GS6 Professionalism, Project, and Team Management: Demonstrate professionalism in practice management, with the ability to plan, organize, and manage design projects and multidisciplinary teams effectively to ensure successful implementation.
