The Faculty of Law at the Applied Science Private University is proud to announce its first-place win in the sixth edition of the International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition, organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross in cooperation with the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law.
This achievement qualifies the Faculty's team to represent the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the regional Moot Court Competition.
The competition saw the participation of fourteen Jordanian public and private universities and took place over two days, Monday and Tuesday, October 27 and 28, 2025, generously hosted by the Jordanian Judicial Institute.
The judging panels comprised a distinguished group of legal experts, including a military judge, a civil judge, and a practicing lawyer. They reviewed a hypothetical case before the International Criminal Court, concerning the secession of a territory from a state and the commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity by the head of that state against the seceding territory. This case served as practical training for law students in applying the rules of international humanitarian law and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. The college team in this competition consisted of students:
Malak Al-Taweel
Layan Al-Jaafra
Yara Al-Safadi
Malak Al-Taweel also won the Best Advocate Award in recognition of her outstanding advocacy performance.
The team was trained and prepared by:
Dr. Muhammad Al-Shabatat
Dr. Wissam Al-Hababseh
Professor Muhammad Khater
This achievement is a culmination of the efforts of the college's students and distinguished academic staff, and embodies the university's mission to foster creativity and leadership in education, and to prepare a generation of graduates qualified according to local and international standards to serve their communities.
