The Faculty of Engineering –Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering- at Applied Science Private University successfully hosted the first edition of the Sustainable Energy Awareness Competition, an initiative aimed at increasing student awareness of sustainability challenges and the critical role engineers play in addressing global energy issues.
The competition concluded with Malak Hassan, Salma Nazzal, and Sara Al-Khaled winning first place, while Saif Al-Makkawi, Ali Abu Toubeh, and Fayez Al-Dissi secured second place after a highly competitive and engaging final round that reflected a strong level of technical knowledge and teamwork.
The event was organized by the AEE ASU Student Chapter, in collaboration with REES AEE Amman. The competition was conceived and developed by members of the Faculty of Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Elyasa Al-Gharibeh.
This initiative aims to empower students with both fundamental and advanced knowledge in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change, while highlighting the vital role of engineers in building a more efficient and sustainable energy future.
Looking ahead, the Faculty of Engineering plans to further develop the competition and expand its scope in future editions to include universities across Jordan, fostering broader academic collaboration and promoting sustainability awareness at the national level.
