In line with the vision of Applied Science Private University (ASU) to advance applied and technical education, and in harmony with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein’s vision to support vocational and technical learning while keeping pace with the rapid global technological developments, the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology (AET) was established as one of the pioneering departments within the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
The department offers two distinguished programs, carefully designed to meet the demands of local, regional, and international labour markets:
1. Applied Engineering / Hybrid and Electric Vehicles
2. Renewable Energy Technology
The department aims to prepare engineers equipped with advanced scientific knowledge and strong practical skills that integrate theoretical understanding with hands-on application. This combination enhances students’ creativity and innovation within their specialised fields.
The department offers a unique learning environment that combines practical training, state-of-the-art laboratories, and collaboration with leading industrial companies, enabling students to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.
First: Applied Engineering / Hybrid and Electric Vehicles
In response to the rapid advancements in the field of hybrid and electric vehicles, the Applied Engineering / Hybrid and Electric Vehicles program was established in 2024.
This program is primarily based on practical application, where more than 50% of the curriculum consists of hands-on courses, making it the first applied engineering program within the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
The program aims to supply the Jordanian labour market with skilled professionals who combine practical experience with theoretical expertise, by creating a practical training environment inside the university and linking it to the local market through partnerships that ensure students receive top-level training.
Applied Engineering / Hybrid and Electric Vehicles is an innovative and recently introduced program at Applied Science Private University. It integrates mechanical, electrical, and software engineering disciplines within the automotive industry, designed to meet the growing needs of vehicle development, manufacturing, and maintenance technologies.
This program provides students with advanced knowledge and technical skills to understand, analyse, and maintain hybrid and electric vehicle systems, qualifying them to contribute effectively to a technology-driven automotive sector.
The field is further distinguished by strong collaboration with local companies and practical training opportunities within specialised industries focused on hybrid and electric vehicle maintenance. ASU supports this applied learning through well-equipped laboratories that enable the study and implementation of mechanical and electrical systems in hybrid and electric vehicles.
