Assessment Level of Environmental Literacy among Applied Science Private University (ASU) students

Abstract : Environmental literacy EL is a significant aspect that must be implanted in education; to continuouslyprotect environment systems, communities, and future generations. Students should understand skills andmotivation to make responsible decisions for a sustainable environment. This research aimed to assess student ELand evaluate the influence of demographic factors on the EL level among students at Applied Science PrivateUniversity in Jordan.A total of 323 students; 53.6% male, and 46.4% females- took the EL test. The test had three parts: student’sdemographic profile, environmental knowledge, and attitude.The findings indicated that students had high environmental knowledge of energy, pollution, and recycling. Theresults also showed that students had a moderate level of environmental knowledge on issues such asenvironmental concerns, ecology, water scarcity, global warming, and ozone layer depletion. The lower meanscores were determined for items on time of gardens irrigation and flue gas. It also revealed no differences betweenGender, faculty, cumulative average, and income levels affect EL.Multimedia alongside books and school environmental experience served as the key source of environmentalinformation. It concluded that environmental knowledge does not always influence the behavioral intentions, so anational strategy is needed to improve current curricula in higher education institution

Abstract : In a previous study, we tested the effect of COVID-19 epidemic on Applied Sciences University ASU students. Thereafter, we found that it is important to compare our students (ASU students) with Taibah University students. Five categories are used as the main structure of the study: General knowledge of Corona Virus epidemic, Students' knowledge about biological and chemical factors affecting Corona Virus, The impact of Corona Virus epidemic on the physical and mental health of students, Advantages of distance-learning versus direct education and Perspectives about the impact of the epidemic on our future life. A total of 556 students were recruited for the study. This study aimed to compare the results of Taibah students with a previous study conducted on ASU students in which a total of 361 students were recruited. Students of Taibah University and ASU are aware of the nature of the pandemic, and the biological and chemical factors affecting the virus, their information source is the social media. The pandemic has affected ASU students in terms of sleep pattern and physical movement more than Taibah University students. The pandemic has negative effects on ASU students with respect to distance-learning, whereas Taibah students found distance-learning more convenient and enjoyable than direct education.

A SURVEY FOR THE MOST HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS IN JORDANIAN LIVES

Abstract : Many chemicals have become ingrained in our daily lives, and many of them have the potential to harm our health if not utilized properly. Jordanians' attitudes and awareness about hazardous chemicals were examined in a prior study. This new study intends to determine Jordanians' awareness of the dangers of dioxin, phthalates, volatile organic compounds, arsenic, Triclosan, atrazine, chloroform, aluminum, glycol ethers, kerosene, Methanol, ethanol, and vinegar, among other substances. Between September and December 2020, the study looked at Jordanians in a variety of scenarios, including academics, laboratory work, and chemicals, as well as manufacturers and others. 245 persons were asked to participate in the study (71 women and 29 men); 44 percent of the respondents completed the dioxin questionnaire. And 40% of them were unaware of the dangers of a number of potentially hazardous chemical combinations. 65.3 percent had no idea what phthalates were, and 44.9 percent had given incorrect answers to questions about unstable natural substances. As a result, the girls and college students have been providing precise answers regarding the hazardous effects of various chemicals. With the aid of age, there isn't a significant difference between the common stages of chemical defense. As far as education is concerned, there is no discernible difference between the various stages of chemical protection.

A COMPARISON OF ONLINE EXAMS TO WRITTEN EXAMS BEFORE AND AFTER COVID-19 AT APPLIED SCIENCE PRIVATE UNIVERSITY (ASU)

Abstract : In an attempt to study ASU students’ opinions about online exams during Covid-19, we investigated using an e-questionnaire for 782 students. Results were evaluated using descriptive statistics and compared with results about the same issue before Covid-19. The results showed that students were in favor of online exams. They found online exams easier than written exams and suitable for all stages and subjects. On the other hand, they believed that written exams were more reliable and accurate in measuring students’ levels and less stressful. Moreover, insufficient time and low reliability were the main disadvantages of online exams.

PREVALENCE OF TOBACCO PATTERNS AMONG APPLIED SCIENCE PRIVATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Abstract : The study goals were to assess the prevalence of cigarette smoking and the type of smoking patterns related to sociodemographic and university-related characteristics. A convenient sample was used in a survey to find varieties of smoking-related to age, gender, type of faculty, level of study, and cumulative average. These findings highlighted the severity of the students’ smoking issue and the urgent need for solutions. A total of 451 students from Applied Science Private University (ASU) were recruited to complete a self-administered, web-based survey in 2022. The questionnaire had questions on state of smoking, type of smoking patterns, sociodemographic and university related characteristics. 58.8% of the sample was female. 54.3% are between the ages of 20 and 41% from the first year. 65.6% of science colleges. 48.6% had a GPA of 84 yen. 40.4% of the total sample are smokers. In general, 18.2% of the participants were currently smoking bubbles, 15.5% were smoking e-cigarettes, and 6.7% were smoking ecigarettes, with a significantly higher prevalence among males compared to females, and the proportion of smoking began to increase with an increased level of study. While the proportion of non-smokers and those who do not think about smoking decreased.

Abstract : This study aims to test Islamic belief, worship and positive behavior in Applied Science Private University (ASU) students as coping strategies. An E-questionnaire was distributed and analyzed. The results showed that belief, worship and positive behavior were high, with mean 4.7951(SD=0.34749), 4.3826(SD=0.55866) and 4.5477(SD=0.40260) respectively. Female and younger students are more committed to their religion. No correlation was observed between religious commitment and academic achievement

The National Radiological Protection suggested that the average exposure to ionizing radiation in United Kingdom is now 2.5 mSv/year at 1988, compared with just under 2.2 mSv/year at 1984 in United State. Abstract : Approximately all universities in Jordan now administer online exams. The results of these tests feed into accountability systems. We examine the degree of satisfaction for online testing. Crucial to the study design is the fact that the university students vary in the level of education, age, Faculties and GPA. In most cases of our study, we find that students in favor of online exam. They find the online exam suitable for all stages, easier than paper-pencil tests, they prefer circulating online exams instead of paperpencil tests, time required to perform online exams is less than that for paper-pencil tests, and hence, preferable for future testing. There was somewhat less consistency in reliability of online exams compared to paper-pencil tests, participants find that online exams don’t reflect true level of examiners, suitability for all subjects. Participants find online exams have many disadvantages and increase stress of examiners.

Abstract : Cooperative learning is an educational approach which is a highly recommended instructional procedure. This study examined the effect of cooperative learning on students’ achievement in the unit of Fractions in Mathematics for Fourth Grade. For this purpose, two samples were taken (each consisted of 46 students) the first one from Jaba Girls Basic School in Palestine, and the other one from Mobes Girl School in Jordan. Each one of them was divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group, cooperative learning was applied to the experimental group and the control group was taught by teacher-centered teaching. The students’ achievement was measured by a researcher-designed achievement test given to students as a pretest and a posttest. Analysis of the achievement test scores responses revealed that cooperative learning strategy have significantly more positive effects on students’ achievement than teacher-centered teaching method. These results provide an evidential base for educational authorities to implement cooperative learning methods and encourage and persuade teachers to implement these methods in the two countries mentioned before.

Abstract : A statistical study was conducted on the impact of the global epidemic of the COVID-19 virus on undergraduate students at the Applied Science Private University in Jordan. The items were divided into five main items; the general knowledge of the epidemic, information among students from a scientific perspective, the impact of the epidemic on psychological and physical health, the impact on academic achievement, and the future expectations. The total number of students was 361 students. The results among the items were positive except for the effect on academic achievement, which was negative. The difference in outcomes between males and females was slight, also, between colleges. However, the difference was clear between the school years, it was found that the higher the student in the academic year, the more cognitive analyzes and awareness of this epidemic. The study found that students had a medium to a high level of anxiety, and the majority of information on this epidemic was obtained by students from social media and not from official authorities. An effective partnership of governments and their educational institutions is must ensure limiting the spread of disease and finding accurate scientific methods to contain problems that arisein society to ensure prosperity

Abstract : The efforts of containing the novel virus (COVID-19) have begun to show signs of psychological impact on teachers and students across the globe. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many school districts have closed for the remainder of the academic year. These closures are unfortunate because, for many students, schools are their only source of trauma-informed care and supports. When schools reopen, they must develop a comprehensive plan to meet their students’ the potential mental health needs as social distancing and awareness campaigns can be a double-edged sword, if handled inadequately. This paper evaluated the challenges of teachers in Dammam in e-learning during the period of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic.

Abstract : This study is an attempt to identify the level of awareness of safety measures practiced in the survey was conducted between September and December 2020 among chemists graduated in Jordan in several working sectors (teaching, Laboratory work and in manufactures). A total of 245 eligible subjects were asked to participate in the study. The majority were females (71.0%), their ages ranged from 18 to 40 years, and most of them were between 18-22 (62.9%). As for educational qualifications, 65% were students. 77.1% of them had a good knowledge of chemistry. Most of the accidents were in the laboratory by females (68%), 78% of the accidents were by females in the household. The age of 18-22 (58.9%) caused most of the accidents in the laboratory. Also, the age of 18-22 (69.9%) caused most of the accidents in the household. 55.5% of laboratory accidents were from students. As result females and students were the major reason for chemical accidents. There is no significant difference in the average attitude towards chemical safety by age. There is no significant difference in the average attitude towards chemical safety as per education.

Abstract : Purpose: We investigated students' plugs, tweets, and posts in this article to learn about their ideas and sentiments, as well as the network impact of their tweets and hot topics. Because of the recent coronavirus epidemic sweeping the globe, most people are remaining at home to prevent becoming sick and restricting the virus's transmission, which is why the bulk of discussions are taking place online. The majority of kids' feelings and activities on social media remain unknown. The text mining approach included sentiment and social media research. According to the findings, many had positive sentiments towards the tragedy. Such insights are vital when training kids to respond and aiding them learn to stand up to an unexpected infectious illness since it builds stability socially. Methodology: Ethical data was gathered from 425 students at "Applied Science Private University" who were taking physics 101, calculus 101, and chemistry 101. A questionnaire serves as the data collecting tool. Applications: The findings of our study give insight and recommendations for science teachers, legislators, and leaders in determining student and instructor needs. Originality: The purpose of this research article is to offer and explore important approaches and processes for students to understand and love physics. Findings: 70% of students taking part in the survey showed a strong desire to employ social media, yet social media's impact on education is positive. More than 90% of college students utilize social media. Tiny communication devices, such as pocket computers, laptops, iPads, and even simple mobile phones, have seen rapid technological advancements, and such small communication devices may be used to access networks any time and from anyplace.

Abstract : The questionnaire was in three parts. Part A was Availability of E-learning requirements related to technical, administrative and financial aspects Part B was Disadvantages of E-learning and Part C E-learning obstacles. And It was written using Google Forms, and the link was shared through multimedia. The reliability of instrument was determined. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentage and t_test and Anova was used to test the hypotheses. The result collected and analyzed showed that; the majority of study (84.0%) respondents were in the middle age between 29 to 48 years old. Males were accounted for less than one fifth (18.0%) of sample. And we found out through the results teachers with 12 to 22 years of experience found of obstacles of E- learning in comparison with those with the lowest number of years of experience, and that state schools have more obstacles than private schools.
