Characterization of the optical absorption, electric modulus, and thermal conductivity of poly(ethylene oxide) dispersed with alum and carbon black nanoparticles

Abstract : Optical, electrical, and thermal properties of hybrid polymer thin films, made of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) filled with electrolyte alum salt of different concentrations, and doped with conductive carbon black (CB) nanoparticles (0.1 wt%), have been investigated. The optical properties were studied in the UV-visible wavelength range, thermal properties were studied as a function of temperature, filler content, and applied field frequency. The observed physical constants of the casted thin films like optical energy gap, energy tails, refractive index, thermal conductivity, impedance, dielectric constant, and electric modulus were determined. It was found that these measured quantities vary with the incident UV-wavelength, alum content, temperature and applied field frequency. The dependence of the electric modulus on frequency exhibit a relaxation peak occurs at 600 kHz.

Abstract : The electrical properties of prepared polystyrene/oil shale composites with different concentration: 0, 5, 10, 20, 30 wt. % of oil shale were studied in this paper, under various measuring conditions including filler content and applied electric field frequency. The dependence of AC-electrical properties of polystyrene/oil shale composites on filler content and frequency were studied using the AC impedance technique. The impedance measurements were performed in the frequency range (100 kHz - 1.5 MHz) at room temperature (30oC). Impedance, dielectric constant and AC-conductivity showed frequency and filler content dependencies. The relaxation time was determined for different filler concentrations .The study includes application of some models to explain the observed results. The universal power law of the AC conductivity behaviour is satisfied for different concentration.

The present study has studying the variation of AC electrical conductivity with frequency in the range (3 kHz - 5 MHz) for PEO with doped 0.1wt. % carbon black as compared to that case of the un doped PEO film, and determined of some physical quantities and parameters as AC conductivity, impedance, dielectric constant. The observed values of the impedance (Z), dielectric constant ('), dielectric loss ("), and AC-conductivity (σAC) showed frequency and temperature. It was found that the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the prepared thin films increase with doped (0.1wt. %) carbon black (CB) complexes and that it decrease with frequency according to polarization processes. The AC conductivity increases with doped carbon black, temperature and frequency.

It was found that the real part (M ') of the electric modulus increases with frequency and decreases with temperatures with doped 0.1wt. % carbon black content. And it was found that the real part (M ') of the electric modulus decreases with doped 0.1wt. % carbon black content.

Effect of Carbon Black Nanoparticles on the Optical Properties of poly (ethylene oxide)

Abstract : The optical properties of thin films made of poly (ethylene oxide) dispersed with dopants of fixed amount of carbon black (0.1 wt%). The prepared films by casting method have been optically investigated as a function of the carbon black fillers, and UV-visible wavelength ranges from (300 to 800) nm. The absorption coefficient, energy gap, refractive index, extinction coefficient, dielectric constants, and optical conductivity have been determined. The results obtained showed that the optical constants change with doped 0.1wt.% carbon black complexes.

Abstract : The present paper contains investigation of the thermal properties of thin films made of poly (ethylene oxide)(PEO)dispersed with dopants fixed amount of carbon black (0.1 wt%). The thermal conductivity and thermal resistivity of the prepared (PEO) thin films doped with carbon black composites have been studied at different (PEO) with doped 0.1wt.% carbon black as compared to that case of the un doped (PEO)film and temperatures. It was found that the thermal conductivity increases with temperature and the thermal conductivity increases with doped 0.1wt. % carbon black content.

The dependence of the electric modulus on frequency exhibit a relaxation peak occurs at 500 kHz.

Effect of Potassium Alum Salt Particles on the Activation Energy of Poly(ethylene oxide) Doped with Conductive Carbon Black (CB) Nanoparticles

Abstract : The electrical properties of conductive carbon black (CB) nanoparticles (0.1wt percent) doped thin films made of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) filled with varying amounts of the electrolyte potassium alum salt and doped with conductive carbon black (CB) nanoparticles (0.1wt percent) have been investigated. The dependence of the activation energy of the composites on frequency, temperature, and filler content was studied using the AC impedance technique. The current research looked at how activation energy changed with frequency (200-1000 kHz) and temperature (30-55oC) for composites with varied potassium alum salt concentrations: 0, 2, 4, 8, 12, and 16 wt. percent. The activation energy (Ea) values measured exhibited frequency, temperature, and filler content relationships. According to polarization processes, the activation energy of the produced sheets decreases with the potassium alum salt content in the composite and decreases with the temperature. With increasing frequency, the activation energy of the produced thin films decreases.

Abstract : The electrical characteristics of hybrid polymer thin films consisting of conductive carbon black (CB) nanoparticles (0.1wt%) doped in poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) filled with electrolyte potassium alum salt at varied concentrations were studied. For varied potassium alum concentrations and fixed content of conductive carbon black of concentration (0.1 wt. percent), the AC electrical characteristics were studied in the frequency range (3kHz - 5MHz) and temperature range (30 oC - 55 oC). Thin film physical constants such as dielectric constant, dielectric loss, AC conductivity, and impedance have been recorded. These measured amounts were discovered to fluctuate with potassium alum concentration, applied field frequency, and temperature. With increasing potassium alum content, frequency, and temperature, the AC conductivity (ac) increases. Dielectric constant (') and dielectric loss (") of the composites increase with potassium alum concentration and decrease with frequency.

Effect of Temperature on Selected Motors Oils

Abstract : The present study contains investigation of the viscosity of different selected motors oils. The viscosity of the selected motors oils has been studied at different temperatures. We studied the behaviour of those oils using rotating viscometer. It was found that the viscosity decreases with increasing temperature. The present study has studying the activation energy for the motors oils. It was found that the activation energy for the best oil less than the others oils.
