A qualitative Phenomenological study explored the
experience of 10 Jordanian mothers admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
during their immediate postpartum period with severe complication. The
experience of these mothers was expressed in 4 Themes: Lost Bonding: Early
Separation from their babies; Relinquished Bay Care; Impaired Maternal Role;
and Sociocultural Influences. The
study highlighted the unique needs of mother’s encounter complication
necessitate their admission to the ICU and made recommendation for ICU nurses
to consider these needs to enhance transition to motherhood for such mothers
