The first in the Middle East to obtain British CIOL accreditation for the Applied English programme (2026)

​The Department of English Language and Translation at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Applied Science Private University has achieved a new milestone with the Bachelor’s programme in Applied English Language receiving recognition from the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), United Kingdom, for the year 2026. This achievement reflects the department’s capacity—through its expertise and high academic standards—to establish a new programme rapidly while maintaining exceptional quality aligned with international standards.

CIOL granted the programme recognised status as of January 2026, commending its strong focus on developing advanced specialised linguistic skills that prepare students to perform efficiently across diverse professional domains. The programme was also recognised for its comprehensive quality assurance system and robust academic governance that support its development and sustainability.

This recognition represents a continuation of the department’s distinguished record of excellence. Previously, CIOL recognition was awarded to the Bachelor’s programmes in English Language and Translation and English Language and Literature, as well as to the Master’s Programme in Audio-Visual and Mass Media Translation. This further strengthens the Faculty’s standing, enhances student learning outcomes in line with global standards, and expands opportunities for graduates in both postgraduate studies and the job market. Moreover, it reinforces the value of graduates’ qualifications through the inclusion of recognition details on official graduation documents, in alignment with quality requirements and international partnerships.. ​​

Students of the Department of English Language and Translation on an Academic Visit to Al Mamlaka TV

The Department of English Language and Translation organized an academic visit for students of the Press Translation course to Al Mamlaka TV and its English-language news platform, under the supervision of Dr. Dina Hammouri, with the aim of linking academic study to practical application.


During the visit, students were introduced to the processes of news preparation and translation, editorial systems and content management tools, and the coordination mechanisms between the Arabic and English newsrooms. The visit also included a guided tour of the newsrooms, studios, and live broadcasting facilities.


The visit contributed to enhancing students’ practical experience and broadening their understanding of the requirements of press translation and the media job market.

The Political Science Department at Applied Science Private University Visits the National Center for Human Rights

​As part of its extracurricular activities and efforts to build networks with relevant national institutions for the benefit of students, the Political Science Department at Applied Science Private University organized today a visit to the National Center for Human Rights — the department’s first visit of this kind to the Center.

During the visit, which was supervised by the Head of the Department, Dr. Bashar Al-Tarawneh, and Political Science Professor Dr. Mohammad Rababah, the students attended a lecture delivered by the Director of Studies, Mohammad Al-Hilo, on the Center’s work since its establishment, its objectives, strategy, and mechanisms of operation.

At the end of the visit, Dr. Rababah expressed his gratitude to this pioneering national institution and its staff for the important achievements they offer in the field of human rights protection. He also looked forward to further fruitful and continuous cooperation between the Center and the Political Science Department at Applied Science Private University.​

A Cultural Session Between ASU Students and Students from Abu Dhabi / New York University

The Language and Cultural Diversity Center organized a distinguished discussion session that brought together students from ASU and students from New York University–Abu Dhabi, from the Arabic Language Program for Non-Native Speakers, under the supervision of Dr. Doaa Rizq and Ms. Renaad Issa.

The session was held at Corp Amman Hotel and featured a rich, interactive dialogue that provided students with an opportunity to exchange viewpoints and build bridges of cultural and linguistic communication. The participants discussed several key topics, such as educational opportunities and the job market in Jordan, in addition to exchanging experiences about the diverse customs and traditions within their communities.

The programs were presented through interactive activities, engaging competitions, and eye-catching presentations that added an energetic atmosphere to the event.​
