The first in the Middle East to obtain British CIOL accreditation for the Applied English programme (2026)

The Department of English Language and Translation at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Applied Science Private University has achieved a new milestone with the Bachelor’s programme in Applied English Language receiving recognition from the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), United Kingdom, for the year 2026. This achievement reflects the department’s capacity—through its expertise and high academic standards—to establish a new programme rapidly while maintaining exceptional quality aligned with international standards.

CIOL granted the programme recognised status as of January 2026, commending its strong focus on developing advanced specialised linguistic skills that prepare students to perform efficiently across diverse professional domains. The programme was also recognised for its comprehensive quality assurance system and robust academic governance that support its development and sustainability.

This recognition represents a continuation of the department’s distinguished record of excellence. Previously, CIOL recognition was awarded to the Bachelor’s programmes in English Language and Translation and English Language and Literature, as well as to the Master’s Programme in Audio-Visual and Mass Media Translation. This further strengthens the Faculty’s standing, enhances student learning outcomes in line with global standards, and expands opportunities for graduates in both postgraduate studies and the job market. Moreover, it reinforces the value of graduates’ qualifications through the inclusion of recognition details on official graduation documents, in alignment with quality requirements and international partnerships..
