Prof. Faris obtained all three university degrees in Human Nutrition from the University of Jordan. He completed the Global Clinical Scientists Research Training (GCSRT) program at Harvard Medical School in 2015. Dr. Faris currently works as a Professor in the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics/Applied Science Private University in Amman, Jordan. With over twenty-five years of academic experience in four Arab universities in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, Prof. Faris has published nearly two hundred scientific reviews, original studies, and conference abstracts and proceedings. Additionally, he has authored several chapters in peer-reviewed scientific books and has authored two books independently: "Nutrition and Cancer" and "Food in the Holy Quran from the Perspective of Modern Nutrition." Prof. Faris also co-authored the book "A Tour in the World of Diabetes and Carbohydrate Counting." Prof. Faris has contributed dozens of cultural articles on food and nutrition to the Arab world. He has also participated in editing and reviewing several important Arabic books in the field of food and nutrition sciences. Prof. Faris is a member of the editorial board of several international scientific journals and the chief editor of several special issues on fasting research. Prof. Faris received the Distinguished Researcher Award from the University of Sharjah in 2021, the State Award for Outstanding Doctoral Student from Jordan in 2010, and the Best Doctoral Thesis Award at the University of Jordan in 2009. Prof. Faris has participated in more than sixty local, regional, and international conferences and workshops in the field of nutrition, in addition to giving dozens of lectures at cultural and scientific societies. Prof. Faris has a presence in various Arab media and is a member and founder of several professional societies and specialized committees, as well as a reviewer for several international scientific journals. He is the founder and chair of the scientific committee of the first International Conference on Fasting, which was held in Sharjah/UAE on February 28-29, 2024. Prof. Faris is one of the most productive and cited researchers in the field of Ramadan fasting, and his research has been cited hundreds of times by researchers worldwide. Prof. Faris has also been included in the Stanford list of the most cited and influential researchers (top 2%) worldwide for two consecutive years (2023-2024).
