Masters Abstract

Considering the growing interest in knowledge and culture, and the increasing focus on narratives and cultural and heritage legacy as a means of presenting them to the local community, visitors, and tourists, a specialized movement emerged in the late twentieth century concerned with the interpretation and presentation of heritage and archaeological sites. This movement adopts scientific and contemporary approaches that align with international standards and modern methods of cultural communication.

Within this context, the idea of this thesis emerged to address a pressing need that is notably lacking in many heritage sites in Jordan, particularly those inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Accordingly, this thesis is entitled:

“An Interpretation and Presentation Plan for Umm ER-Rasas Archaeological Site (Mefa’a)”.

The thesis seeks to achieve the following objectives:

1. To fulfill UNESCO’s requirements for heritage site management plans, specifically the interpretation and presentation component, in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

2. To transfer and adapt this experience to other significant heritage sites, taking into consideration the specific characteristics of each site and the nature of its Outstanding Universal Value (OUV).
