Lec. Hamza Amjed Bani Melhem

​Hamza Bani-Melhem is an academic and professional designer with a strong background in graphic design and Digital media. Born in Jordan, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Design and Applied Arts – Interior Design from Yarmouk University in Irbid, Jordan, in 2014. He later completed his postgraduate studies and obtained a Master’s degree in Graphic Design from Middle East University in Amman, Jordan, in 2020.

At the professional level, his experience has diversified between creative work and professional practice in the fields of design and photography, where he held multiple roles as a printing specialist, graphic designer, and photographer. Through these roles, he contributed to the implementation of integrated design projects, including the creation of photographic archives for products and furniture pieces, as well as the development of comprehensive visual identity guidelines for a number of brands. In addition, he continues to engage in freelance work in logo design, visual identity development, print design, and photography.

Hamza later transitioned into academia, beginning his teaching career as an instructor in the Department of Applied Arts – Interior Design at Luminus Technical University College (Irbid, Jordan). He was subsequently appointed as an Assistant Lecturer and then as a Full-Time Lecturer at the same institution, where he received several outstanding evaluations for academic performance. During this period, he taught British curricula and programs for Pearson BTEC qualifications as well as national diploma programs. He also served as Lead Internal Verifier for Pearson BTEC programs throughout his tenure. In parallel, he worked as a part-time lecturer at Yarmouk University (Irbid, Jordan). He later joined Al-Khwarizmi University College (Amman, Jordan) as a full-time lecturer in Multimedia Technology and Graphic Design. In 2024, he joined Pearson as an Internationally Based Trainer and subsequently assumed the role of International Standards Verifier (ISV), while continuing his current position as a full-time lecturer (2025–present) in the National Diplomas Department – Digital Media Applications Program at Applied Science Private University (Amman, Jordan). Hamza obtained the Academic Work License for Universities and University Colleges from Yarmouk University in 2023. In the same year, he completed a full-year Training of Trainers (TOT) program at The Hague Academy for Local Governance as part of the Faculty Development Program at Luminus Technical University College. He has also earned several certified professional certificates in design software.

In addition to teaching, Hamza has participated in the implementation of national training programs in partnership with the Jordanian Ministry of Education through his work with Pearson. He delivered more than 22 intensive training workshops to over 280 teachers as part of the 2024 Teacher Education Program for Pearson BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. He also conducted an intensive training workshop in 2023 on Inclusive and Participatory Education for more than 35 faculty members at Luminus Technical University College. Furthermore, he remains actively involved in creative, cultural, and volunteer community initiatives, including projects in collaboration with international organizations such as USAID and UNRWA. 

Hamza is distinguished by an academic vision focused on advancing creative education and enhancing the quality of programs in graphic design and digital media. His work emphasizes curriculum development, innovative teaching methods, and alignment with labor market needs and international standards, alongside continuous contributions to quality assurance and academic capacity building. Through this approach, he actively supports the preparation of qualified graduates and contributes to the development of higher education and the creative industry.​

  • My research interests focus on graphic design and environmental graphic design, with particular emphasis on wayfinding systems and spatial cognition, alongside information design, new media design and technology, interactive media and digital applications, and visual design and communication.​
