Applied Science Private University Participates in the Sixth Scientific Conference of the Association of Environmental Law Lecturers in Middle East and North African Universities (ASSELLMU)

​Applied Science Private University took part in the proceedings of the Sixth Scientific Conference of the Association of Environmental Law Lecturers in Middle East and North African Universities (ASSELLMU), held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This year's conference focused on the theme: “Water Security and Environmental Law in the Region”, and was organized by the College of Law at Al Sharqiyah Colleges from February 24 to 26, 2025, in Riyadh.

The University was represented by Dr. Ali Al-Hammouri, an expert in environmental legislation and a faculty member at the Faculty of Law at Applied Science Private University.

The conference brought together a distinguished group of academics and decision-makers from within and beyond the region. Discussions centred around enhancing education in environmental law to ensure the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to provide effective legal solutions to challenges related to water security.

The conference was held under the supervision of the United Nations and in partnership with the Ministries of Education, Environment, and Water and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Approximately 70 experts and researchers from around the world participated. The event included specialists in environmental education, university lecturers, environmental law experts, and representatives from international organizations and specialized environmental agencies.

The primary objective of the conference was to exchange knowledge and expertise and to learn from shared experiences on how to strengthen the teaching and practice of environmental law in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to achieve water security.

Applied Science Private University distinguished itself through its active participation, notably with a presentation delivered by Dr. Ali Al-Hammouri titled: “Criminal Protection of Water Resources and Achieving Water Security in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.”

The presentation addressed Jordan’s national experience in protecting water resources, emphasized the importance of advancing environmental law education to meet current challenges, and showcased the University’s pioneering experience in the field of environmental education.
