The Faculty of Law team won first place in the electoral mock trials for the year 2023/2024, and at the level of Jordanian public and private universities, and student Dana Bani Mustafa won the award for the best litigant in the competition.
It is worth noting that this competition is organized annually by the Independent Election Commission in cooperation with the Jordanian Judicial Council and the Partnership Project, and the competition aims to enhance the role of youth in political participation and how to resolve electoral disputes. The importance of this competition, which is a means of spreading awareness of election laws and political parties and introducing students to electoral appeals, comes through pleadings before a judicial body formed for this purpose, and raising the spirit of competition and respect for opponents and acquiring the skills and experiences necessary for practical life.
19 Jordanian public and private universities participated in the competition in the northern, central and southern regions, and at the end, His Excellency Mr. Ammar Al-Husseini, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, distributed awards and certificates to the participants.
The students were trained and prepared for the competition by Dr. Tariq Al-Bala and Dr. Ali Al-Hamouri from the college. The members of the applied team of participating students are: Dana Bani Mustafa, Tamara Al-Sayyida, Yara Al-Abbadi, San Abu Daabes, Muhammad Al-Ayoun, Alaa Saad, Hamza Nakhleh, and Rand Al-Samadi. The College of Law is keen to hold mock trials twice each academic year (in Arabic and English), as these mock trials are a form of practical simulation of real trials, and bridge the gap between legal theory and practical application by training to acquire the necessary skills to conduct pleadings before the court.
