Dr. Basel Bani-Ismail is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Software Engineering at the Faculty of Information Technology at Applied Science Private University, Amman, Jordan. Dr. Basel holds a PhD in Computer Science from Sultan Qaboos University (2019), awarded through a full scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation in Oman.
With over 15 years of experience in higher education across the Gulf region, Dr. Basel previously served as an Assistant Professor at Majan University College in Oman. He was also the Head of the Computer Science and MIS Department at Oman College of Management and Technology from 2019 to 2024. Prior to that, he worked as a lecturer at Sultan Qaboos University from 2010 to 2015 and as an instructor at the University of Bahrain from 2006 to 2010.
Dr. Basel is an OQF external reviewer for the OAAAQA in Oman. He has served as a reviewer and editorial board member for numerous international journals and conferences. His research interests include Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), information retrieval, data mining, and natural language processing. He has published over 25 research papers in reputable journals and conferences.
