Dr. Mohammad Hijjawi
Dean of Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) | Professor


Dr. Mohammad Hijjawi is a professor in the computer science department in the faculty of information technology at Applied Science private University(ASU). He received his PhD from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK in 2011. Dr. Mohammad has previous computing based training in several domains. Also, he was an IT training manager for a specialized training center in the ASU beside his work as an ASU Cisco academy manager and an authorized Cisco based courses. Currently, Dr. Mohammad acts as the faculty of information technology dean at ASU from Sep. 2015 beside his responsibilities according to the ASU’s committees.​

Dr. Fatima Alhaj

Assistant Professor | Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department | Faculty of Information Technology (FIT)


Dr. Fatima got her PhD. Degree, Master, and a bachelor from the university of Jordan, in 2022, 2015, and 2010 respectively. She now works as an assistant professor at the Applied Science Private University, in the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department​. She is an artificial intelligence and machine learning researcher, specializing in state‐of‐the‐art natural language processing (NLP) techniques. Her research focuses mainly on pre-trained language models, text mining, and Human-computer interaction. Also, her experience in information technology is wide and varied, including Ontologies, Data Visualization, Programming, and Software Engineering. Her four years of PhD research output includes five peer‐reviewed papers published in a Scopus journal and top NLP conferences. In her PhD, she developed a novel and efficient framework to classify distortions in textual data, especially social media text, based on a pre-trained language model.​​


 



Aya Salameh Al-Sultan
Program Coordinator | Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (ICE) | Applied Science Private University

Aya Al-Sultan is the Program Coordinator at the Innovation Center and Entrepreneurship (ICE) at Applied Science Private University (ASU), where she fosters student-led entrepreneurial idea initiatives and collaborates with industry leaders to develop workshops. She previously led the Hult Prize competition at ASU, earning global recognition for the university’s team, and contributed to the Knowledge4All project, focusing on economic analysis and sustainable development in Jordan.

With a strong foundation in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs, Aya has worked at Maddox Pharma Swiss and completed a comprehensive regulatory training program, achieving a 99% score. Her knowledge of entrepreneurship's role in addressing challenges in emerging economies was expanded through the HarvardX course, "Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies." She is dedicated to creating social impact through innovation and continues to build partnerships aimed at driving positive change.
