Dr. Nagham Nafiz Hendi

Biography

Dr. Nagham Nafiz Hendi is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Applied Science Private University, Jordan, specializing in biomedical sciences, genomics, and clinical pharmacy. She earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical and Biological Sciences from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar (2023), graduating at the top of her class with distinction and receiving a fully funded doctoral scholarship. She also holds an M.Sc. in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Jordan (2017) and a B.Sc. in Pharmacy (2015), both with first-class excellent academic standing.
Dr. Hendi?s research advances precision medicine by integrating genomics and translational biomedicine, pharmacogenomics, multi-omics, bioinformatics, and machine learning. Her work encompasses population genetic structure, genetic and molecular mechanisms of complex diseases, and the functional characterization of novel genes, particularly in underrepresented populations. Dr. Hendi previously held academic and postdoctoral appointments at Middle East University, Sidra Medicine, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and the University of Jordan. She received the Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award (2024) from the American Heart Association. She contributes to peer-reviewed scientific publications, international conferences, funded research projects, postgraduate supervision, scientific peer review, and international scientific collaborations. She is a member of the American Society of Human Genetics and the European Society of Human Genetics.

Research Interests

Dr. Hendi?s research integrates population and functional genomics, pharmacogenomics, multi-omics, and translational biomedicine to investigate the genetic and molecular mechanisms of complex diseases and advance precision medicine. Her expertise encompasses genetic diversity and population structure, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), polygenic risk scores, and functional genomics using CRISPR/Cas9. She applies bioinformatics, integrative multi-omics (including transcriptomics and epigenomics), and artificial intelligence and machine learning to investigate gene function, identify disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets, and advance genetic risk prediction and personalized therapeutics, with particular emphasis on underrepresented populations.
