Overview

The department’s main objective is to produce a highly competent pharmacy practitioner by providing the experience and knowledge in the chemistry based topics according to the B.pharmacy plan that is necessary for graduate education and healthcare related careers. Focus is emphasized on building strong scientific foundations and developing essential laboratory skills.


The department houses five major laboratories including: analytical pharmaceutical chemistry, organic pharmaceutical chemistry, phytochemistry, medicinal chemistry and “instrumental analysis and drug identification”. The goals of such experiential learning are diverse and are focused on the synthesis, design, and analysis (both qualitative and quantitative) of drugs and natural products.


Scientific research interests of department members fall into different categories such as synthesis and discovery of novel anticancer drugs, and development of new analytical techniques for various bioactive compounds. .​
