The Faculty of Law organized the Legal Debate Competition on Thursday 01/09/2025, in the presence of His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, Dr. Haitham Abdullah Abu Khadija, Vice President of the University, Professor Dr. Saleh Al-Aqdah, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Hamza Muhammad Abu Issa, faculty members, and a number of guests, students and their families.
The competition was held in three sessions, the first session: "This Council believes that illegal immigrants should be treated as criminals", the second session: "This Council believes that we are very strict in punishing cybercrime", and the third session: "This Council believes that the provisions related to attempted violent crimes should be the same as the provisions for violent crimes".
In each session, a pro- and anti-debate team debated, each team included three speakers, each speaker presented the arguments he had prepared to support his position on the issue at hand, and refutation arguments to respond to the arguments of the opposing team, and according to the evaluation schedule presented to the honorable committee, points were calculated for the participants. The teams participating in the competition were judged by a committee consisting of: Arabic Language Professor Dr. Asim Bani Amer, Lecturer Moatasem Billah Dabash, and Lawyer Mr. Ahmed Mutawwa.
In the first round the following team won : The Loyalty Team, which included students: Tulin Mustafa Abdul Hadi, Batoul Waseem Abdeen, and Layan Muhammad Issa.
In the second round the Loyalty Team won : Zainab Thamer Hamid Al-Obaidi, Hadeel Ahmed Muhammad Al-Nusour, and Huda Jamal Jalal Juma.
In the third round the Loyalty Team won : Jessica Hanna Al-Madanat, Muhammad Mahmoud Sayyah, and Hala Ahmed Jamal Abdul Khaliq.
The Loyalty Team which won the second round, won first place in the competition overall.
The first place as the best speaker from the Loyalty teams was shared by the two students: Layan Issa and Hala Abdul Khaliq.
The first place as the best speaker from the opposition teams was won by the student: Mudar Islam Jaidi.
The importance of this competition lies in refining the students’ skills and personalities to help them face their professional challenges, by increasing their ability to discuss contemporary issues away from extremism and exaggeration, and by increasing their public speaking skills and respect for other opinions.
