Professor Heba Alqub earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Jordan with an excellence rating, ranking 6th out of 170 in the graduating class of 2011. Following three years of professional practice at an architectural consulting firm in Amman, Jordan, she pursued her master’s degree in architecture, specializing in Urban Design and Housing, through the Post-Professional (UDH) Program at McGill University, Canada's top-ranked university. Her master's research focused on revitalizing traditions and cultural values in contemporary Arab-Islamic architecture, providing insights into design methodology and production.
Alqub continued her academic journey by obtaining a Ph.D. in Geography, Urban, and Environmental Studies from Concordia University, achieving a perfect CGPA of 4.0/4.0.
Her doctoral dissertation delved into the marginalized populations residing in refugee camps, examining their involvement in spatially and temporally constructing their living spaces.
y employing assemblage theory, the study offered a unique and dynamic perspective on how the construction process of refugee camp spaces is influenced by exchanges, interactions, and flows occurring within and beyond their boundaries, underscoring the refugees' role as co-creators of their environment.
Throughout her master’s and Ph.D. studies, Alqub contributed to the teaching staff at both McGill and Concordia universities, instructing undergraduate courses, leading tutorials, and participating in juror panels. She was honored as the recipient of the Golden Key International Award in 2019, representing Canada on the international stage.
Active in various international and local committees, Professor Alqub holds memberships in prestigious organizations such as Urban Affairs Association (UAA), Association of Collegiate School of Planning (ACSP), American Association of Geographers (AAG), Planners' Network (PN), the Golden Key International Honour Society at Concordia University (GK), and Jordanian Engineers Association (JEA).
