Alqub was honored with the Experiential Learning Award from Concordia, which supports outstanding projects that provide experiential learning opportunities benefiting the local community. Given Alqub's focus on refugees' home-making practices within host settings, aimed at transforming their new spaces into homes, she collaborated with Action Réfugiés Montréal (ARM), a Montreal-based non-profit organization. Through ARM's "Refugee Sponsorship Training Program," Alqub actively participated in facilitating the resettlement process for refugees in Montreal, thereby contributing to breaking down barriers between refugees and the host state. This collaboration aims to achieve a practical understanding of the spaces created by refugees, imbued with meanings and aspirations, through firsthand engagement and experience.
Additionally, Alqub is part of The Cities X Citizens project that emphasizes the democratization of planning and urban design by employing participatory design methodologies and open-source systems.
