The Department of Interior Design at the Faculty of Arts and Design organized a field visit to the Jordan Museum as part of the educational activities for the "Interior Design for Public Buildings" course. The visit, supervised by Professor Dr. Osama Hassan and Dr. Ruba Jadallah, aimed to enhance students' practical understanding and provide a comprehensive perspective on the role of interior design in museums and its application in presenting historical and cultural information.
The visit focused on helping students understand the architectural and interior design of the museum, exploring its elements that contribute to enriching the visitor experience. The tour included an in-depth look at display area designs and how to create a sensory experience that fosters visual engagement between visitors and exhibits. Additionally, students examined methods for redesigning museum spaces as part of a practical project requirement within the course.
Museum officials presented historical artifacts to students that illustrate the development of civilizations in Jordan, explaining how interior design can effectively showcase Jordan's heritage in a way that enhances the visitor experience. This educational field experience provided students with an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in designing public spaces, equipping them with critical and creative thinking skills in designing public buildings, especially museums.
The visit resulted in several key takeaways that strengthened students' understanding of the interaction between architectural elements and exhibits, as well as how to design spaces that cater to visitors' needs, creating an enriching and enjoyable experience. This visit underscored the value of hands-on learning in this field.
