29-5-2024

As part of the Faculty of Arts and Design’s interest in informing its students about everything new in the fields of interior design and environmentally friendly design, the faculty hosted a delegation from the Jordanian Green Building Council. Engineer Heba Al-Nazer gave an introductory lecture on the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system, which is considered a standard for the design, construction, and operation of buildings with high environmental performance. It is an indicator of highly efficient green architecture.

Engineer Al-Nazer reviewed the most important system standards that must be applied to obtain its approved certificate. She also reviewed examples of local projects that have already obtained this certificate and discussed the challenges that were overcome to do so. This lecture also represented an enrichment of the sustainability in interior design course taught this semester.

After the lecture, Prof. Emad Al-Fahmawee, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, honored the guests from the Jordanian Green Building Council. In the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Ismail, Head of the Interior Design Department, and several faculty members of the department, discussions were held on ways to enhance cooperation between the Faculty of Arts and Design and the Jordan Green Building Council
