University Participation in Cross-Sectoral Dialogue about the SDGs

The Applied Science Private University initiates and participates in cross-sectoral dialogue about the SDGs, through organization of conferences, dialogues and workshops involving government/NGOs. Examples of such initiatives include:

1. Organizing an International Conference on Sustainable Engineering in 2023. The aim of the conference was to bring together academic scientists, researchers, and policy makers to exchange and share their experiences.

2. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, organized an interactive workshop titled: " A focused study:  waste management in informal settlements and camps in the Middle East and North Africa, using Jordan as an example " One of the objectives of the event was to interact with all stakeholders and develop a multidisciplinary network of experts in this field, in addition to creating a knowledge base on pollution and waste management in the most densely populated communities, and developing guidelines on effective practices for managing pollution and waste in densely populated neighborhoods. To achieve the event's objectives, many experts from the Ministry of Environment, the Greater Amman Municipality, and the Ministry of Local Administration presented a series of lectures. They presented various projects and studies on waste management in Jordan and its impact on achieving sustainable development goals. These lectures concluded with an interactive panel discussion between experts and academics in addition to students. https://www.asu.edu.jo/en/News/Pages/Waste-management-informal-settlements.aspx
