The Pharmacy Practice Group held a lecture on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, titled "(Dealing with Health Insurance Companies in Community Pharmacies), presented by Dr. Diaa Amr, who has extensive experience in community pharmacy chains, pharmacist training, and development. She began by defining the concept of insurance companies and the categories and classifications within this system, which may differ in terms of benefits, offers, and services provided, as well as the deductible percentage imposed on health insurance holders.
The potential challenges when dealing with insurance companies were also discussed, along with some common behaviors and mistakes in prescription dispensing. Correct principles and procedures for dealing with them were highlighted, including obtaining approval from the insurance company when there is doubt about any reason that might lead to non-acceptance of the prescription, to avoid errors and financial claims that could lead to litigation.
At the end of the workshop, there was an interactive discussion with the attendees, in addition to practical application on some insurance models with the aim of optimal learning for their dispensing.
The Faculty of Pharmacy, represented by the Dean Dr. Samar Thiab, extends special thanks to Dr. Diaa Amr for her efforts in providing distinctive and up-to-date pharmaceutical knowledge to students in the field of insurance and prescription dispensing, and emphasizes the faculty's continuous commitment to collaborate with various pharmaceutical bodies and individuals to support the students' training journey
