ASU President Professor Mahfouz Jouda inaugurated the Top 100 Arab Posters Exhibition, organized by the Faculty of Art and Design in cooperation with the German University in Cairo. The posters carried several themes in various design methods and different impact from modern approaches in the Islamic and European worlds, in addition to a touch from the 1950’s and 1960’s in the old Egyptian cinema designs. They also constituted a rich area for serious discussions of art and design.
Jouda voiced delight for the cooperation between the two institutions, leading to such an artistic demonstration and cultural heritage. He also expressed admiration of the students’ attendance and queries. He thanked the faculties of Art and Design deans and Jordanian universities’ students who visited, and interacted with, the exhibition.
He remarked that ASU’s FAD would stay as a hub for teaching and developing the subject in the kingdom.
The event was attended by a large number of specialized students at Jordanian universities and those interested. They learned about several poster design methods as well as various social, economic, artistic and cultural topics. The posters made a cognitive and technical material for the Graphic Design students.
The activity was also attended by Vice-president Professor Sameeha Jarrah, FAD deans and department heads at Jordanian universities as well as ASU’s faculty deans, department heads and faculty members. It is expected to continue until Thursday evening to receive guests like designers, art and design students and those interested from the community.
