ASU’s Department of English Language and Translation has obtained accreditation by the CIOL of the UK for all its BA and MA programmes. ELT is the only one of its kind to receive this certification in all private and public universities of Jordan and the Arab World.
The CIOL was founded in 1901 and chartered by Queen Elizabeth II in 2005. It is concerned with the universities which offer BA, MA and PhD degrees in the English language and Translation. It focuses on the quality of teaching and mechanisms to verify achieving the outcomes of learning and teaching English in accordance with the standards set by the UK’s Ministry of Higher Education.
