Admissions and Registration Aptitude Tests
 

   The aptitude test is mandatory for all students enrolled in the university as from the second semester, 2008-2009. All students must sit for the aptitude tests in the Arabic language, the English language, and computer. A student who does not pass any of these three tests must enroll in a deficiency course in the subject in which he fails outside his study plan.

 
 
Computer aptitude test
 
 
   Students enrolled in the university before the second semester, 2008-2009.
   All students enrolled in the university sit, as from the first semester of this year, for the computer aptitude test. The aim of this test is to alleviate part of the study load of the student, for
 
1.     the student who passes this test will be exempted from studying the course Computer Skills(1)(1301100). Three equated credit hours will be reckoned to his study plan, and he should pay the fees of one credit hour according to his major.
 
2.     The student who does not pass the aptitude test must study the course Computer Skills (1)(1301100).
 
3.     The student who holds the ICDL is exempted from studying the course Computer Skills (1)(1301100).
 
   The computer aptitude test is held in the first week of each of the first and second semesters of the academic year. Sitting for this test is mandatory in the first academic year for all enrolled students. The university looks forward to becoming electronic by developing electronic education. It is working now for furnishing all classrooms with computer devices to enable teaching staff members to deliver lectures via the computer. The students can now receive assignments through the internet particularly in the Faculty of Information Technology.
 
   The test is held in the Faculty of Information Technology in fully equipped laboratories. The test is online and electronically designed by using a new computerized system built completely in the Computer Center of the faculty. The system computes the results instantly and spares time and effort. The mark of the student appears immediately after finishing his answers. The test program has received great satisfaction of the students because of the speed and accuracy of computing the results. The university, in coordination with the Faculty of Information Technology, provides free-time laboratories for students during the working hours with the aim of upgrading students' awareness in the computer skills and applications.
 
 
English language aptitude test
 
 
   Students enrolled in the university before the second semester, 2008-2009.
   The Department of Foreign Languages holds several sessions for the English language aptitude test in each academic year taking into consideration the appropriate dates of the test to attract the largest possible number of students and the time that suits the dates of registration and drop and add. The test is mandatory for all university students. First-year students in all majors sit for the test as from the year 2001. The test goals are:
 
1.      to measure the student's knowledge in the basics of the English language.
 
2.      to classify students according to their actual levels and enroll students in the course that fits their level in the aptitude test.
a.     English language 102101
b.     English language102102
c.      English language (deficiency) 102099
 
   Levels are reckoned according to the following marks:
a.     50% or more: pass and take the course 102101.
b.     Less than 50%: fail and has to take the course 102099.
 
   Test format: the test consists of the following three parts:
a.     Reading and comprehension: 50 marks.
b.     Vocabulary: 20 marks.
c.      Grammar: 30 marks.
 
   The test is conducted online.
 
   Questions: Questions are set up to have four multiple choice answers, where the student selects one of them .
 
   The test results are announced in three days right after the test in the department's notice board. A copy of results in forwarded to the Office of Admissions and Registration. The mark of each student is recorded in his file on the computer.
 
   The test fee is JD 15 paid to the Office of Admissions and Registration before the test.
 
   The student who is to sit for the test must present an ID card (civil status, university ID card, passport) in the test room.
