The Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences was established in 1991, the same year the AppliedSciencesUniversity was established. Initially, the faculty consisted of four departments, the Medical Technology, Audiology and speech, Food Science and Nutrition, and Nursing departments. Each department was offering a B.Sc. degree, accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. In 2006, Nursing department has evolved as the Faculty of Nursing.
Currently, the faculty consists of two departments, 1) the fundamental (basic) sciences department including (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics) and 2) the Food Science and Nutrition department. The later, offers a B.Sc. degree, through a four years program, that comprises relevant scientific courses in both food and nutrition as well as practical training. The program qualifies the students to work in several aspects of nutrition, food processing, meals, and diet planning in hospitals, maternal and child centers, food analysis, quality control in food analysis, quality control in food factories and contributing in preparing food standards and regulation to ensure proper healthy food.
The fundamental (basic) sciences department provides basic Science courses in there fields of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics for students of other faculties including Engineering, Pharmacy, Information Technology (IT), and Nursing at the AppliedScienceUniversity.
The faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, aims at becoming one of the most distinguished faculties at AppliedScienceUniversity through educational excellence, scientific research and enhancement of scientific knowledge and through contributions to the local community. These objectives are fulfilled by:
1- Recruiting distinguished and skilled faculty members capable
to contribute to teaching and research efforts and meet
international standards of Quality Assurance.
2- Enabling the students to acquire scientific knowledge up
to the highest standards set by the fine international universities.
3- Adopting well balanced syllabuses and high quality international
text books that match those offered by comparable faculties
4- Endorsing innovative teaching methodologies that motivate
students to develop creative thinking.
5- Specifying and enforcing course objectives to ensure that
those objectives are realistically achieved by students.
6- Finally, the teaching process is assessed, following each semester,
through a feedback process in the form of point scale questions.
This will help improve the process and diagnose any problems or
issues, students may have.
